The parents had two remaining goslings this weekend, and the kids were learning to dive. I caught this youngster trying to go completely under water. Took him a few hard kicks and a lot of splashing, but he made it. While he was under, the closest parent would put their head and neck completely under water to watch them (I suppose), and sometimes the kids would pop up while mom or dad was under, then, almost as if the parents were concerned they couldn't see them, they'd pop their heads up to look for them, just as the youngster would go back under. Pretty darn funny to watch. Reminded me of how my kids were as toddlers.

into the distance a ribbon of black
stretched to the point of no turning back
a flight of fancy on a windswept field
standing alone my senses reel
a fatal attraction is holding me fast
how can i escape this irresistible grasp
can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, i...
...a soul in tension, that's learning to fly
condition grounded but determined to try
can't keep my eyes from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted, just an earth-bound misfit, i
above the planet on a wing & a prayer
my grubby halo a vapor trail in the empty air
across the clouds i see my shadow fly
out of the corner of my watering eye
a dream unthreatened my the morning light
could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
there's no sensation to compare w/ this
suspended animation a state of bliss
can't keep my mind from the circling sky
tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i
