I brought my little sister up to the reservoir to take some pics. This goat is in the yard at the base of the hill.

Just a fun photo I took. Opinions?
Strobist : SB-700 held camera right, above subject head by subject's left hand, aimed towards subject's face. 1/16, 120mm.

Cadi and Brooke were a bit timid at first, but the water was very shallow at low tide and they were able to try out the boogie boards very close to me in less than a foot of water. After a couple of tries, they went out a bit further. The water was still below their waists, but the waves were plenty big! They can't wait to go back and boogie board again.
I had the privilege of being able to stand on the sidelines and take pictures of the Lee County HS girl's soccer team (on which my daughter is the assistant coach). Although the quality of these photos is not the greatest (night game, "low shutter speed"), they can serve the purpose to help educate minor details to help the girls play a more fulfilling match.
Communication with the ball handler is key to getting good passes and establishing a chain of passes between players. How long of a sequence can we get during the game?
As always, thanks for your views, comments and faves!
For four years, we've been taking groups of students from Douglass High School on educational river trips with a clean-up thrown in. The transformation in these kids in just a few hours is amazing. Going from..."I'm not getting in that boat" to "Go faster". It's all thanks to the efforts of a very special teacher, John Reid, who we awarded with our "Floating Classroom Award" last year. photo by John Reid.

Children are having a ROCKING great time at Tot Time – Bugs Rock at the Avondale Regional Branch Library. They're learning about bugs, making mosquito headbands, painting plaster of paris bugs, and observing real bugs in jars: snails, roly-polies, millipedes, earthworms, and crickets!
View large on black. By focusing on the dust on the lens at f2.8 I took the rest of the camera out of focus. I could shoot it again bearing this in mind but a) that's sunlight casting the shadow there and sunlight will be scarce here the coming days and b) I'm lazy.

My latest obsession has been learning to use some of my manual settings on my camera in an effort to learn to get the bokeh effect (in-focus subject, blurred background). I think I'm FINALLY getting it. Viewing the exif data for pictures on flickr has helped a lot.
This is the lava lamp I got in my stocking from my mom. I love it way more than I should but I'm a dork that way.

The iLab Southeast Asia developed a custom reporting application that builds upon the SMS-based reporting functionality of GeoChat. In the SMS-based TB Lab Results Alert System, once the TB tests are analyzed, the results can be reported immediately to the health centers in real time using text messages on mobile phones. Real-time reporting means that patients with positive TB test results can be given medical treatment right away, as well as receive important education by village volunteers with specialized training about how to prevent spreading the disease to others.
