Leans in a number of directions...

Full screen is way better tbh.

Don't think I've edited a pic I intend to blog this much before, but I do quite like the way it ended up

Houston invented lean. This is a different Houston lean.

Horton-in-Ribblesdale station suffered some lean times in the 1970s, along with others on the Settle-Carlisle line. Happily today it is receiving passengers again, but on 1 November 1973 when I took this picture it was closed and the outlook was bleak. Here a northbound freight rumbles through the platforms, headed by Class 40 locomotive No. 315.

Hey guys! I've been so busy and so sick lately that I haven't been around. But good news~ I had a little procedure today and the results were normal! There is still something going on and I'll need more tests to find it but they didn't see any active disease and that's a good sign. My doctor even high fived me, haha. ^___^

Sometimes you just need to lean into the sun to see where you are going. Human and Nature Exhibit at the Morton Arboretum. Lisle, IL.

When I saw these two trees my first thought was that the larger tree had reached out to support the smaller tree, but I didn’t know how that could happen. I learned later that as trees rub against each other bark is abraded away and then the two trees can self-graft, a process called inosculation. The conjoined trees are known as “marriage trees”, “husband and wife” trees, or gemels (the Latin word for “a pair”).

Lean on me, when you're not strong

And I'll be your friend

I'll help you carry on

For it won't be long

'Til I'm gonna need

Somebody to lean on...

Last weekend I went to the Fenland Busfest in Whittlesey. I had a very 'bracing' ride from Lincoln on open-top AEC Bridgemaster NJV995, which certainly cleared my head by the time I arrived. Having never been to this rally before, I'm happy to say that it is an excellent event.

As we had arrived fairly early, I was able to position myself to photograph several of the arriving vehicles slightly away from the main rally site. I always prefer to capture buses on the move wherever possible, as it is more of a challenge than taking a photo of a static vehicle.

One of the participants of the rally was this former Trent Leyland Atlantean, ONN571P. This bus was new in July 1976 as fleet number 571, and originally carried an ECW body. Sadly, a fire at Meadow Road depot in Derby destroyed the original body when the bus was almost new, so the chassis was sent to Willowbrook to be rebodied, and 571 returned to service in 1977. It remained in service until 2000 when it was sold for preservation. It has since been repainted into NBC Poppy Red livery.

This photo was taken in Whittlesey as the bus was negotiating a roundabout. The bus is leaning over to the nearside a little more than it probably should, after speaking with the driver, I gather that it has a soft spring on the nearside front corner.

I think it's a good thing this young man wasn't walking alone. It was slow going with his leg in this condition!

Sometimes in our lives, we all have pain, we all have sorrow.

But if we are wise, we know that there's always tomorrow.

Lean on me, when you're not strong and I'll be your friend.

I'll help you carry on, for it won't be long till I'm gonna need somebody

to lean on.

Please swallow your pride, if I have things you need to borrow.

For no one can fill those of your needs that you won't let show.

You just call on me brother when you need a hand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

I just might have a problem that you'll understand.

We all need somebody to lean on.

Lean on me when you´re not strong, and I'll be your friend.

If there is a load you have to bear that you can't carry.

I'm right up the road, I'll share your load if you just call me.

Call me (if you need a friend)

Call me
