Well pard, back yer wagon load in chere until the snowfall quits. Take yer mules to the livery. It looks like the spring blizzard is settlin' in fer a spell. Hessie and Grand Island is still a fur piece up'n the road and the Fourth of July mine is a real stretch. That's nasty in this sorta weather. I wonder what prizes could be found inside this garage or sequestered in other structures in Eldora.
This Monday, eDDie and I found the old Switzerland Trail grade, old mining structures and colorful aspen. We found plenty of green aspen as well as a load of old structures on our earlier visit. Eldora's founding was listed as early as 1889 as a shipping point for Caribou silver, five years after Crofutt published his 1885 Colorado Encyclopedia. It was originally called Eldorado (or El Dorado), Colorado however there were post office department-caused conflicts. Apparently, the post office had issues with mail deliveries to Eldorado, Cal. instead of Eldorado, Col.
eDDie and I parked on Eldora Street, the through-town road, and scattered to seek opportunities. This was captured near where we parked. We came away exhausted and loaded with pictures and memories on both trips! We are here, west of Nederland on the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway, on the road up to Eldora and other mining camps, Hessie , Grand Island(?) and up to the Fourth of July (probably because that was the earliest date they could commence working for the year). That's now in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area. Eldora was claimed to be a transportation point for Caribou's silver ores. Frankly, I doubt that was the case before or after the Switzerland Trail narrow gauge rails served both canyons. Caribou had its own access to Nederland through Cardinal before the Colorado & Northwestern rails arrived and from Cardinal through to Boulder, Colorado mills and smelters afterward. The road from Caribou to Eldora looks like it was questionable on Google maps.

This little Dee puts pressure on me for a handout of seed. They were following me continually on the trail some even flying into my face to get the point across. Either that, or it was just my personal magnetism. Some call it the Snow White syndrome.
Better On Black
When you're not strong
I'll be your friend for you to lean on
I'll support you, so lean on me
For it won't be long
Till somebody is gonna need to lean on me again
Looking through the back room of the Villines Farmstead, an addition that was probably constructed in the 1880s. This was taken by looking through the back door - the house is fragile and the National Park Service has kindly asked that people no enter the building. The severe lean of the building shows how unsafe it would be to walk inside.
The house sits just above the Buffalo National River, in the Ozark Mountains of northern Arkansas.
After the previous succes of my last photograph on [Explore] I have decided to snap a few other Leaners I pass on the way to work.! This is on the A39 Also just outside of Kilkhampton this afternoon on a lovely bright day but very cold!
We arrived at the Grand Canyon just as the sun was setting and enjoyed the incredible views of the absolutely massive canyons.
We had to head over to our campsite as they were first come first serve and after driving around, the last one was just taken minutes before we arrived.
We ended up asking a couple if we could share the space that they had and they were more than welcoming.
After unpacking all of the tent stuff, we realized that we were missing one piece, the actual tent...
With several minutes of searching and realizing that we were indeed tentless, we decided to fashion a lean-to out of the slip cover that would go over the tent to protect from rain. The tree we found worked perfectly and everything was set.
I knew that I wanted to try and capture a frame with our lean-to and Polaris just happened to be perfectly placed for a star trail photo.
The lights going back and forth from the tent are from headlamps as we went back and forth while cooking our food. They are obviously messy but I loved what they conveyed about the photo.
Stacked using Starstax.

When we're in the car, Teddy will place his head on Missy's back and start falling asleep. It is one of the sweetest sights I have ever seen. They have such a lovely relationship.
Lean on me, when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long

Somebody to lean on ♫♫ - Bill Withers
A few abstract pieces as the winter landscape disappeared on the weekend of this hike. We call this scene Lean On Me.
After almost three years of walking by this scene, capturing many angles and seasons, including panos, this simple view with a slight vignette added is my favorite
A Manhattan-bound J train of R32 cars (Budd, 1964-1965) leans into the superelevation as it arrives at Hewes St Station on the BMT Jamaica Line. The R32s seen here were in their 56th year of revenue service.
If someone would ask me, what a beautiful life means? I will lean my head on you and feel your heartbeat and I will answer with a smile, like this "Lean On You"

Oxyopes macilentus, sometimes known as the lean lynx spider, is a species of lynx spiders from East Asia, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and northern Australia. They are active predators, hunting invertebrates (including other spiders) among vegetation. They are especially common in grassy areas and rice fields. Their bodies are characteristically long and thin, about four times as long as it is wide. Their body color ranges from pale white to yellow, orange, or green; with a... (Source: Wikipedia)
