A neat little trick I learned from one of the riders in our pack, but there is a trick, can you spot it? In the background, I will reveal the trick at the end of the day. My bike is the Giant, and Murray's is the magnificent custom Seven.

On another note, we had a great ride, with nice seasonal temps of 15c and light winds.

On its last legs stands* this interesting architectural memory. Built in the late 1800's, this Methodist church served local farmers, fishermen and their families through two freezes, two World Wars and a shifting economy. By the mid 1900's most of this community had moved away and in 1972, this congregation met for the final time.

Some years ago, this church was slated for demolition when a local neighbor bought the land it sits on, saving it from destruction. This same neighbor also paid to replace the roof which you see in the photo.

The rear wall of this one room church is largely detached from the structure, the steeple is missing and the foundation is crumbling.

I liked this old strong tree very much and thought it would be a good idea to lean on it. I had to run up the hill through the snow to get caught in the right moment with my selftimer...would have been funny if someone was watching me ;-)I have not much time for flickr at the moment cause second part of my studies started this week and there is lot to do, the good thing of having to ride one hour or more a day by car is that I come through areas where I didn't already took many pictures so I hope to find some new stuff.

This is an older shot from before I had PS. I have processed it as B&W and am considering using it for an upcoming photo club competition.

BNSF 6059 West leans into the curve at Wilder, KS on the BNSF Topeka Sub near about MP 3.87 with the C-WTMLRT0-36B. It's carrying 135 loads of coal to the Evergy Power Plant at Lawrence, KS.

This train used to split into 2 sections and half the train would go to Tecumseh, KS but that plant was closed down a few years back. Now even the Lawrence plant is scheduled to be closed. Progress I guess. With current natural gas prices that seems like a short-sighted decision to me, but I'm just a regular dude.

Hey everyone! I hope your Memorial Day weekend has started off in grand style! Of course, I was up early and although the beach sunrise wasn't notable, at least the beach and water are still oil-free and quite beautiful...such a blessing for all, especially the local merchants who desperately need the tourist business over the long weekend in case the rest of the summer is ruined...and I was very heartened to see bumper-to-bumper beach bound traffic as I left from my morning hike!

I hiked the beach Refuge trails all morning and the humidity was lower than it has been lately, making for a very pleasant excursion...here's just a bit of what I saw...
