I decided to create a new layout for myself. Sadly, I don't have Illustrator so I used Photoshop, which is why it's slightly pixelated.

It will take me a while to adapt... Still unfinished. I am planning to get more baseplates of sorts. Features 'public display track' for one classic locomotive to be...
Update as of Aug. 31, 2008: Hopefully this is the last time I have to set up a layout on two different-level tables. I am looking to a new multiple 60" x 30" table standard. Thus, baseplates would be equally aligned and I can have a 2-baseplate block sandwiched by a road and 2 tracks on each side. I literally almost destroyed the layout when I nearly tripped due to holding on to the extension too much. Plus, the extended section looks like it's going to tip over! I should not let that happen. The only good thing about the new section was the smooth transition of the track from ballast to plain table due to not having enough ballast sections. But I am getting to a point that I will need that space for ballast and that the extension would not be able to support the edge of the layout.
The difference can be seen in another shot.
Update July 21, 2009: The layout has been cleared completely, to make way for a temporary setup of a Hollywood, FL diorama. It's been hard leaving the modular block, but at least until Christmas, I can guarantee the two corner structures, the Cafe Corner and the Deluxe Cafe Corner will remain absolutely, by no doubt, intact. In Nov 08 the Market Street has been demolished and in July 2009, the two central 16x16 footprint buildings have been downgraded to which several dk blue parts were taken out for an 8wide project. More likely I will restore the one with the white/green striped awning, but also likely the one with the black sloped roof which makes a checker with the LDD creation will be torn down. Pound Park may see the chopping block too, but at least remain intact until Halloween.

Right, so I can opt in and out of this, I know some people can't so I thought I'd upload a picture for their viewing pleasure. This is the only thing that's changed for me when I opt in, I'm not used to all the black-ness but I have to admit it's actually a ton easier to use than the current system and works really smoothly, and that's coming from someone with a decade-old laptop with a slow internet connection. Two problems though: the comments are in reverse order, that is from newest to oldest (trifling problem, could get used to that) and the note function is entirely gone. That's pretty bad in my opinion, though flickr says they're working on the entire layout and are planning on adding more stuff to it. There's an "Opt-out & Feedback" button in the lower left, I encourage any fellow LEGO builders to which the note function is important to go to the feedback section and bitch about its absence.
Opinions?
This paper is from Stack 7 by DCWV, which was the second stack I ever bought. It has a copyright date of 2009. Also, the "congratualtions" is vellum from some package I don't even know where I got it from so I can guarantee that's old! :)
The funny part about this is that there are no graduation photos even though this is a graduation layout! I didn't really know the graduate but we had fun seeing all of the family.
The switching layout is now pretty much finished. All areas are polished off and it’s a blast to operate. I’ve been quite happy with all the subtle details I’ve been able to model with this layout. It’s very fun to operate and I think really compliments whatever is running at the time!

The Concorde was completely redesigned for the 1998 model year. The new design was similar to the new Chrysler LHS, however the two models each had a unique front end shape and different rear fascias. The "Second Generation" design was introduced in 1996 as the Chrysler LHX Concept Car. This concept vehicle had large 20" wheels, and a centrally located instrument cluster. The wheelbase was expanded to 124 inches (3,100 mm) to allow for rear passenger supplement restraints, rear occupant entertainment center and storage compartment.
Despite overall length increasing by 7.5 inches (190 mm), the second generation's weight dropped by nearly a hundred pounds. This was achieved by extensive use of aluminum for the rear suspension, hood, as well as the two new engines. In addition the 214 hp (160 kW) 3.5-liter V6 engine, there was also a new 200 hp (149 kW) 2.7-liter V6 and 225 hp (168 kW) 3.2-liter V6. The 3.5-liter was redone and output upgraded to 253 hp (189 kW) and was available on the 2002-2004 Concorde Limited (formerly LHS).
Much was done in the design process to make the second generation LH sedans look more distinct from each other. The 1998 Concorde differed far greater from the Dodge Intrepid and the new 1999 Chrysler 300M (successor to the Eagle Vision), than did the first generation models. With the exception of the doors and roof, the Concorde shared little sheetmetal with the Intrepid and 300M. The new Concorde's front end was underscored by a striking full-width grille, relocated to the front bumper to give the impression of a bottom breather. Sweeping curves and a more rounded front end also helped set the Concorde apart from the Intrepid and 300M. The second generation Chrysler LHS had an appearance very similar to the Concorde; The only major differences being its more centrally located single frame grille and amber turn signals on the taillights.
As in the previous generation, six passenger seating with a front bench seat and column shifter was optional. Cloth seating was standard on base LX with leather seating optional. Leather was standard on upscale LXi and later Limited models.
The Concorde, 300M, and Intrepid were discontinued in 2004. The all-new Chrysler 300 replaced the Concorde (and 300M) in late 2004 as a 2005 model.
The Concorde 2nd generation replaced the first generation car (launched in 1991), itself derived from the AMC division Eagle Premier (and Dodge Monaco). Interestingly, these two AMC products were directly related to the then-new Renault 25 and inherited the Renault north-south installation of the powertrains, with the engine mounted ahead of, and driving, the front axle. This layout is very similar to that used in the larger Audis, thus permitting the installation of a all-wheel-drive system for added traction, though there were no volume models of either the AMC division cars, or the latter LHS platform Chryslers that used this system.
Notes on each of the aircraft Concorde and automotive Concorde are taken from excerpts published on Wikipedia.
The two models shown here, the Aérospatiale-BAC Concorde and the second generation Chrysler Corcorde have been designed in Lego. The aircraft in approximately 1:50 scale, and the car in miniland (1:21) scale for Flickr LUGNuts 79th Build Challenge, - "LUGNuts goes Wingnuts" - featuring automotive models named after, inspired by, or related to aircraft.
The layout, as can be seen, is still not finished but the most gruesome work is done, the metropolis. Now the industrial area has to be done and it'll be finished before the eve. One of these units will be taken to Tampa, the one with the best motor. They're doing a good job on my mini GFLUG style, dueling regulator layout thus far but already failed the proving ground in Plant City.

The origins of the hall date to the 11th century. William Peverel, illegitimate son of William the Conqueror, held the manor of Haddon in 1087, when the survey which resulted in the Domesday Book was undertaken. The Vernon family acquired the Manor of Nether Haddon by the 13th century marriage to the Haddon heiress.[2] Though it was never a castle, the manor of Haddon was protected by a wall from 1195, when Richard Vernon received permission to build it.[citation needed]
Haddon Hall's long gallery c.1890
Dorothy Vernon, the daughter and heiress of Sir George Vernon, the owner of Haddon Hall, married John Manners, the second son of Thomas Manners, 1st Earl of Rutland in 1563. Sir George disapproved of the union, describing his daughter's suitor as "the second son of an impoverished Earl." In addition, the Manners were Protestants, and the Vernons were Catholics. According to legend, 18 year old Dorothy eloped with Manners during a wedding party for her older sister. However, they must have later reconciled with Sir George, as the couple inherited the manor.[3] Their grandson, also John Manners of Haddon, inherited the Earldom on the death of his distant cousin the seventh Earl of Belvoir Castle.
The 9th Earl, when made Duke of Rutland in 1703, moved to Belvoir Castle, and his heirs used the Hall very little, so it lay almost in its unaltered 16th-century condition, as it had been when it passed in 1567 by marriage to the Manners family. In the 1920s, the 9th Duke realised its importance and began a lifetime of meticulous restoration, with his restoration architect Harold Brakspear. The current medieval and Tudor Haddon includes small sections of the 11th-century structure, but mostly comprises additional chambers and ranges added by the successive generations of the Peverel, Avenel, Vernon and Manners families. Major construction was carried out at various stages between the 13th and the 17th centuries. The banqueting hall (with minstrels' gallery), kitchens and parlour date from 1370 and the St. Nicholas Chapel was completed in 1427. For generations, whitewash concealed and protected their pre-Reformation frescoes. There is a 16th-century Long Gallery.

The 9th Duke created the walled topiary garden adjoining the stable-block cottage, with clipped heraldic devices of the boar's head and the peacock, emblematic of the Vernon and Manners families.
[edit] Layout
The hall stands on a sloping site, and is structured around two courtyards; the upper (north-east) courtyard contains the Peverel or Eagle Tower and the Long Gallery, the lower (south-west) courtyard houses the Chapel, while the Great Hall lies between the two. As was normal when the hall was built, many of the rooms can only be reached from outside or by passing through other rooms, making the house inconvenient by later standards.
[edit] In literature and the arts
The hall has figured prominently in a number of literary and stage works, including the following, all of which describe the Vernon/Manners elopement:
A light opera, called Haddon Hall, with music by Arthur Sullivan and a libretto by Sydney Grundy, premiered in London in 1892.
A novel called Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall was written in 1902 by American Charles Major and became a best seller.
A play of the same name, based Major's novel, was written by American playwright Paul Kester. It debuted on Broadway in 1903.[4]
Fred Terry and his wife Julia Neilson adapted that play for London, calling it Dorothy o' the Hall, where it played in 1906.[5][6]
A 1924 film, starring Mary Pickford, was adapted by American screenwriter Waldemar Young (grandson of Brigham Young) from the Major novel.[7]
The Hall features in Philip Hensher's 2008 novel, The Northern Clemency[citation needed]
Frederick Booty, the English watercolourist, painted Haddon Hall several times, including pictures of the peacocks in the gardens.[8]
[edit] In cinema and television
The interior and exterior of the home (including the Long Gallery) were used in 1986 as Prince Humperdinck's castle in The Princess Bride. Franco Zeffirelli chose Haddon Hall as the location for his 1996 film of Jane Eyre, and the Hall featured in the 1998 film Elizabeth. It also appeared in the 2005 film version of Pride & Prejudice. Since then, it has appeared on television in 2006 as Thornfield Hall in Diederick Santer's 2006 BBC version of Jane Eyre and was so used again 2009[9] and in Cary Fukunaga's 2011 film of Jane Eyre.[10]
The hall was the setting for A Tudor Feast at Christmas, a BBC2 documentary recreation of a Tudor banquet (first broadcast Christmas 2006) by the team of academics from Tales from the Green Valley.[11] In 1990, Haddon Hall was the set for the castle of the giants at Harfang in the BBC's adaptation of The Silver Chair, one of C.S. Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia.
This is a quick Photoshop mockup of blog layout on a grid.
I made this when I was bored -- I was experimenting with the Inset text effect and somehow it turned into a grid-based layout mockup.
I'm obsessed with the Grid. It satisfies my need for organization, harmony, structure, simplicity, and balance. I think I'm one of the last remaining people in this world who still uses a ruler on a regular basis to create straight lines (or to use pen and paper on a regular basis, for that matter).
Someday I'll convert this into a free WordPress theme.
The layout's typography is supposed to be Grid-based (horizontal and vertical); I used the 12 column 960.gs template even though I'd probably write the CSS myself instead of using the framework's stylesheets. I'm not very happy with the color scheme and I can see some spots where it looks like there's poor background/foreground color contrast issues.
A product of boredom! :)
