A winter storm warning yet again today plus a snow squall watch for tonight with an additional 30-60 cm possible between now and Tuesday. This is my neighbors house where the layers on the roof give a pretty good illustration of daily snowfall amounts. There are usually thaws that keep the depth of snow down a bit but that hasn't happened since New Years Day.

Taken in Toggenburg, Switzerland. The mountain peaks you can see are part of the Churfirsten.

Purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain. Aerial perspective (also known as atmospheric perspective) demonstrated in this image.

Onions, ogres and canyons have layers. In this panorama, the Colorado River flows through the layers of Navajo, Kayenta, Wingate, Chinle and Moenkopi sandstone that it slowly cut through over eons of time.

Great layers at a foggy sunrise.

This is another foggy Fall morning on a country backroad. I did not use filters or post processing tricks, this is the color of the morning.

Have a great day

With a spring meadow as a foreground, we view layers of coast oaks, Douglas fir, distant ridge lines and a pretty burst of sunset color in the sky.

Brilliant architecture of 400 years old palace of King Bir Singh Deo of Bundelkhand.

Five out of seven stories are visible as it was taken from the second floor.

Saturday Self-challenge - layers

2024 one photo each day

Forest bathing requires a bit of a different approach at this time of year - usually, with a lot more layers of clothing, snowshoes, and a good set of winter boots. Even so, it's nice just to stand still, look around, and take it all in.

Originating in the West Indies, Mexico, and Central and South America, the flower is known botanically as Eustoma grandiflorum.

The common name comes from the Greek words lysis, meaning 'dissolution' and anthos, meaning 'flower'.

Colours include white, light and dark pink, lavender and deep purple. Double and single-flower varieties exist.

Many people do not know what it is, but everyone loves it!

For years I 'experimented' in the studio, to get that Flemish painter's light? Well, I was born in Flanders, it must be in my blood? LOL.

THANK you, M, (*_*)

Switching off from photo opportunity mode is difficult, even when you're eating lunch. I spotted this view of our trachycarpus fortunei palm whilst eating a baked potato and I just had to interrupt my meal to get a snap. The layers of palm leaves created some interesting fan shapes in the afternoon sun, but I was obliged to take the shot through SIX layers of glass - three double glazed windows. I was therefore surprised that I was able to achieve a less than perfect but reasonably acceptable focus.

A beautiful dahlia I saw on my morning walk seems to fit the bill with its layers of perfectly formed petals.

Misty morning in the Dee valley near Llangollen.

This is another red maple. It was bleached out by this years drought, but will likely return to a deep red just before it drops to the ground for me to eventually rake it up.

End of the month, time for another photo of my monthly project for 2017. This time I was inspired by the track 'Layers', made by Pryda aka Eric Prydz. The link to the song is below.

If you want to see which other tracks of Eric Prydz I made pictures for, feel free to check out the album with all the previous images.
