Belly away in 20 days

At the beach, only every third Indian is happy with his figure. We tell you how to reduce your belly fat to get to the bikini figure quickly. Here the some of Belly reduce tips.

Belly reduce tips: High time to lose belly fat

belly reduce tips: take a healthy food

It does not have to be a six-pack – but you can certainly reduce a bit of belly fat before you go on summer vacation. Her skills to make a good figure in the next twenty days: our two compass workouts for him and her. They each contain six crunchy exercises that specifically affect the female and male parade parties: The women’s circle focuses on legs & butt ( to be found here ), the circuit course for him is aimed primarily at the abdominal, thoracic and arm muscles from ( to find here).

This target zone training provides the appropriate muscle care, which sustainably contributes to the fine-tuning of your beachwear. Exercise on three days a week, but not on two consecutive days. The body needs Renenerationspausen to adapt to the training stimuli of the workout. And if you are not fast enough to slim down with our power circuits alone – here are a few effective accelerators from the Food Trick box:

belly reduce tips

Soup-Coup: Plan two to three soup days a week. Some diets do not completely rely on soups: they have a low-calorie density, so they hardly deliver any calories per kilogram due to their high water content. However, to lose weight, your soup meal should not contain more than 150 calories. Use plenty of fresh seasonal vegetables and proteins from legumes, lean meats or fish. Cream and creams are taboo, taste instead of yogurt or cottage cheese.

Fruit instead of sweet: If in between the small hunger comes, do not resort to the chocolate, but to dried fruit! Figs, plums, apricots, and Co. quickly bring the sugar level up. Important: drink extra – preferably water or unsweetened teas.

Dinner, goodbye: who takes the last bite before 17 or 18 clocks, lives slimmer! This also applies to calorie-containing drinks such as juices, sodas, milk, alcohol. Rule of thumb: start the feeding break about four hours before going to bed.

Avoid percentages: Alcohol is a true calorie bomb! A quarter liter of white wine contains about 180 kilocalories. But still better than a glass of wheat beer: With half a liter capacity, it has almost 500 calories. That’s more than a complete meal.

Belly reduce tips: How can it burn….!

Those who want to reduce belly fat and repeatedly subject to the latest diets usually fails and the obesity joins the frustration. However, there is simple Belly reduce tips that help immediately.

belly reduce tips: food helps to reduce belly

1) Make for a regular breakfast. Who refrains from the plague food cravings and the greed for sweet and greasy. It is good if breakfast contains fiber as well as minerals, vitamins like complex carbohydrates.

2) Especially for the complex carbohydrates, for example in wholegrain bread, the following applies: The body needs carbohydrates to provide energy. But we also need to consume this energy, otherwise, it will accumulate as fat.

3) Drink plenty of cold water. The body uses up calories to bring the water up to its temperature. In addition, water fills the stomach. Therefore, drink water in between to avoid hunger attacks. What’s more, thirst and hunger are close together, and we often eat a snack when we’re really thirsty. Before eating you should always drink water, then you have less appetite because the stomach is already filled.

4) Eat low calorie. If you eat meat, give chicken meat priority over pork, if you eat chicken, take the breast instead of the fat-rich thighs. Or grab the even lower-fat turkey.

Avoid finished products and make their own soups, sauces and dips. For example, ketchup often contains almost 50% sugar. If you mix tomato paste with soy sauce instead and add herbs, only a fraction of it remains. Instead of chips, you can eat apple chips or kohlrabi strips on the sofa, and even pretzel sticks are far less popular than potato chips.

MacDonalds, Burgerking, etc. are NoGo: Hamburger & Co are extremely fat-like sugar-rich and lead, in addition to the large intake of calories in addition to cravings. So they take easily three to four times calories

Eat “Mediterranean”: lots of fruits and vegetables, olive oil and fish, little red meat and simple carbohydrates.

High-protein food is filling for a long time, while high-fat food only briefly soothes hunger.

5) Eat when you are hungry. This is not so easy. We are so oversaturated with energy drinks, sweets or fast food stuff that we barely recognize the difference between hungry and full.

6)We eat because we are bored, because there is something to eat, or because we have the lunch break. Get used to eating only when you feel hungry.

7) Avoid soft drinks with sugar. Cola, Fanta, Sprite or Red Bull contains a lot of sugar, as well as “iced tea” from the supermarket, sweetened nectar still a lot. Drink water when you are thirsty. Mix spritzers of fruit juice and water, make your own iced tea.

8) Eat slowly. If you chew well and eat your time, eat less. The body needs up to 20 minutes to record the information “full”. It does not matter if they bring one or three plates into the stomach first. See also: ” Fletching “.

9) Move. Walk or ride a bike. In the parking garage take the stairs instead of the elevator.

10) You can also cycle for 30 minutes every day, plan jogging or weight training and integrate abdominal exercises into your daily routine. A good practice is push-ups where you press the abdomen to the floor or when you lie on your back and repeatedly straighten your upper body as much as possible.

Luckily, belly fat reacts very well to sports, and that’s why weight training is particularly successful at reducing the fat level.

11) Use everyday life to move. Go up and down while reading or talking instead of lolling on the sofa.

12) Work physically in the home: cleaning the windows, scrubbing the floor, dragging furniture into the basement, even washing up consumes calories.

13) You can easily extend or vary everyday activities that consume calories. For example, if you ride a bike to the university, take a detour. Or you drive as fast as you can. Or you turn a few gears higher.

14) Watch out for sweets. If you love Haribo, Snickers, or Tofifee, reduce the treats or forego it for a while. You should not go too dogmatic because that leads to cravings. It is better if you make sweets a ritual: In the evening at eight a colorful bag at Mehmed’s kiosk, for example.

15) Plan your free time so that you burn fat and have fun at the same time: outdoor trekking instead of sightseeing with the double-decker bus; historical city walks instead of the pub. Or do both together. By the way: even wandering through large museums consumes calories.

16) Mental training. The more we imagine something, the more we work unconsciously to achieve it. Therefore, imagine your body as you would like it to be. This will keep you focused on the goal, and the individual methods of achieving it will soon be self-evident.

So train useful habits and stop harmful habits. It takes some time, but it is very effective. For example, if you’ve gotten into the habit of drinking a gallon of coke and eating a pack of chips in the evenings, go for Coke Zero and pretzel sticks, or spritzers and apple chips.

17) Sleep well, because sleep is important for the fat metabolism to get going.

18) Avoid Stress Relievers because we often try to compensate for stress through eating.

19) Do not buy food when you are hungry, but make a list and work it out systematically. This could include, for example, peppers, onions, carrots, wild rice, various types of cabbage, potatoes, turkey breast, low-fat fish such as cod or salmon, apple spritzer, and flavored water.

Also, only buy what you really need and not what’s cheap.

20) Prevent hunger in between, by the way swallowing a sandwich or having a kebab in your stomach. Eat some fruit at home like a stuffing banana or take small snacks like apple slices, cucumbers or grapes along the way.

21) If you buy less often, then you are better protected against spontaneous purchases in the supermarket.

22) Eat at regular times, then notice quickly if you carelessly stuff calories into yourself.

23) Do not take over. An old rule. The more we eat, the more calories we give ourselves. Therefore, refrain from filling the plate two or three times.

24) In the restaurant, you refrain from sugar-rich desserts and give preference to low-calorie fish or poultry dishes over pork and lamb.

25) Do not store fatteners at home. Keep chips and chocolate under lock and key.

26) Brush your teeth more often, because that dampens your appetite.

After two years I'm finally sharing these photos of my latest Dark Age creation, a medieval Blacksmith Watermill that specialize on making enchanted weapons. Using the nearby river, the mill mechanism turns the shafts and powers the blacksmith drop-hammer.

It has a vegetable garden and a courtyard as well as a kitchen and smokestack. I built-in Power Functions to light up both the fireplace and the oven, as well as move the water wheel and drop hammer. I have a full video on this MOC on my YouTube channel here - youtu.be/81YqJs8wtBg

I hope you enjoy my creation, and check out the video!

my latest sticker project is this Plaxton bodied Volvo B10M for Kingswinford Coachways, Lee really likes this...

However as the four previous arrivals seem to have pushed four Olympians, including one of the famous 'G' reg Leyland examples out of service it sadly wouldn't be unreasonable to expect that the arrival of this one will displace the last Leyland - it was still parked with the 'in-service' buses today though. 32057 is seen leaving Newcastle-under-Lyme bus station bound for Hanley on a 25, 11/04/2014.

To consume the contents of the latest Flash Report you will either have to click on the following URL or give me a telephone call and ask that it be read to you. www.flickr.com/photos/60428361@N07/49769426826/ As a public service I’d advise that you use the click and read option. To find who the young man in the Flickr photo is you'll have to read the report. In the current vernacular, yes, I'm pushing "full blown exposure" to these reports.

Catching up

On March 21, 2020 this note was received. “Hi John: Just wanted to let you know that the KOM League has lost another. My dad Russell White passed away on March 19, 2020 at the good ole age of 93. He has gone to be with his Irish Love.

Wish you the best and we'll continue to read your reports as long as you send them Shawna White-Clough

Ed comment:

A message of condolence was sent to Shawna and the reporting of her father’s death was delayed until there was an obituary to share. The obituary came out on April 9 and on that same day this note was received from baseball necrologist, Jack Morris. “Here’s an obituary for a guy which says he was on the Iola Cubs. I’m assuming he didn’t get into a game since I can’t find him in Baseball Reference or in the TSN contract cards.

www.legacy.com/obituaries/tribnet/obituary.aspx?n=russell...

Obituary

Russell White Russell White (93) went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2020 of natural causes, joining his loving wife Lauretta.

He was born April 27, 1926 to Harry and Juanita White. He was born in Oakville, WA and eventually ended up in Gig Harbor. In 1946 he was signed by the Chicago Cubs and sent to their farm club in Visalia, CA.

He also spent time with the Iola Cubs which was part of the KOM league. Unfortunately, family wanted him back home so unhappily he returned. Upon returning home he got in touch with the love of his life Lauretta (Murphy) and they were married in August of 1948, before her passing in 2017 they had been married for 69 years.

He worked several jobs before being hired by the Peninsula Light Company where he retired from after 38 years. He enjoyed traveling and camping with Lauretta and would end up on some back road to their next destination. They traveled most of the United States, Ireland, Wales, Mexico to name a few. He was a very devoted member of St. John's Episcopal Church.

He is survived by his sister Kay (Vern) Kolves and his four children, Wendy (Alan) Lentz, Dennis White, Denise (Jim) Matthews and Shawna (Tom) Clough. He had 5 grandchildren, Chris, Marci (Ty), Jason, Chad and Tim and 1 great granddaughter Danika, along with several nieces and nephews that he adored. He was preceded in death by his wife Lauretta and brother Jess. A celebration of life will be held at a later time, after the pandemic is under control.

Published in News Tribune (Tacoma) on Apr. 9, 2020

A rather long e-mail was sent in reply to Jack Morris in which it was documented Russell White appeared in three games for the 1946 Iola, Kansas Cubs. Contact was first made with his daughter and later him in 2016. A number of communications went back and forth over the intervening four years. The account of locating the White family can be found in this Flash Report: oldtimerbaseball.com/hall_09.php?year=09&id=02 There are many references to contacts with the White family in the intervening four years and can be shared if anyone needs a reference as to the Flash Report in which they appeared. This site features a photo of Russell and his wife. www.flickr.com/photos/60428361@N07/28643236921/

In the first story written about Russell White he provided many interesting stories not the least of which happened when he was a young man. Of all the people with whom I have ever conversed with regarding baseball, or any other subject, I have never heard of anyone living in a “community” like White described. Go back and read the article and then report to me if you found the “naked truth.”

Being aware that a few baseball researchers peruse this publication it was decided to summarize Russell White’s time at Iola. This note was shared with Jack Morris. “This is Russell Austin White's career in a nutshell. Pitched against Carthage May 23-- 4 hits four runs--no decision. May 17 beat Miami 5-2. Also pitched at Bartlesville prior to May 17-no decision.”

Ed comment:

Receiving an obituary for April 9 has a real impact on Yours truly. It on that date, in 1947, that my father passed away due to ruptured appendix and the lack of penicillin to treat it. For 73 years it has always been my belief that the Hall family, led by my mother and her four children suffered worse on that day than anyone else on the planet.

On the morning of April 10 of this year I decided to look back on the events of April 9, 1947 and found that towns in Northwest Oklahoma, Southwest Kansas and the Texas Panhandle suffered devastation that numerical dwarfed what the Hall’s experienced that same day in Carthage, Missouri. Towns like Woodward, Oklahoma suffered immensely but eventually returned to “normal.” In the same manner the Hall family picked up the pieces and went on about trying to make it. Some 73 years after losing my father I have a reminder of him every day for his tombstone resides just a few feet away from where this report is being written. Don’t call me a weirdo until you ask how that came to be.

So my social commentary relates to the current status of the health of the world. This is not the worst thing that has ever happened, by a long shot and like tornados and deaths from 1947, this too shall pass. .

Death of Ewing Turner—Ponca Dodger

obits.ocregister.com/obituaries/orangecounty/obituary.asp...

Ewing passed away peacefully at his home in Scottsdale, AZ on April 1, 2020; he was 90 years old. Ewing Turner was born on June 28, 1929 in West Plains, MO (Ed note: His parents were living in Dry Branch in Howell County) and was raised in Long Beach, CA. Though Ewing was an only child; he had several first aunts and uncles, along with cousins. Ewing was born into a depression era family to his father, Everett and mother, Lillian.

The Turners were of very modest means and young Ewing was restless at a very early age. He was an excellent student, athlete, and woodworking craftsman. Ewing attended Long Beach Poly where he was an outstanding football, basketball, and track sprinter. His true love was playing baseball. Ewing was an All-CIF catcher at Long Beach Poly and had full ride scholarships to both USC and the University of Arizona.

Ewing, bypassed college and was signed by Hall of Famer, Branch Rickey, of the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1947. In the summer of 1949 at the age of 20, he met the love of his life, Geraldine Michelick. A whirlwind romance ensued, one year later they were married and the Turners were on a fast track to the big leagues. However, when they arrived home from their honeymoon on September 30, 1950, Ewing was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve on the front lines in the Korean War. Faith, hope and prayers brought Sergeant Turner back in 1952 and he resumed his career with the Dodgers. Ewing and Gerrie traveled the country in pursuit of their dreams from Vero Beach, FL to Ponca City, OK, Pueblo, CO, Mobile, AL and many other stops in between.

In 1955, Ewing and Gerrie, with a toddler and another baby on the way, decided to retire from baseball to move back to Long Beach, California. With his baseball bonus money, Ewing bought Curley's Cafe‚ in Signal Hill, still operating to this day as it has since 1932. The Turner's settled into a small home in Signal Hill. With one more move to Long Beach, they eventually purchased their dream home in 1960 on Rowena Drive in Rossmoor, CA. With 4 children to raise, Ewing became the ultimate super dad and helped construct the St. Hedwig's Little League fields in Rossmoor and became a mentor and coach to many young dads that had never played or coached.

Ewing and Gerrie also expanded their business ventures into other businesses: Turfside Liquor in Cypress, Automotive Salvage Yards Admore and Allco Auto Wrecking and Signal Savings & Loan. Ewing also became a Steering Committee Member of the Long Beach Second Guessers Professional Baseball Players Association of America and served as President (and Lifetime Honorary Member) of the Signal Hill Police Officers Association a philanthropic organization from 1978-80.

Ewing's work ethic on the baseball diamond, in the community, or running his businesses, was unrivaled out the door at 4:30 AM and home by 7:00 PM; he loved running Curley's. He always said he had the "best customers in the world" and he treated them like family. Great food, world famous chili and a stiff drink was their brand, no menu ever, daily blue plate specials prepared by his Aunt Ruth. His check cashing business and service to the oil field roustabouts was legendary. The locals knew it took some gumption to run Curley's, an occasional argument and bare-knuckled brawl might ensue over a lost wager but Ewing was there to restore order.

A friend to all, enemy to none, Ewing also served as the official lender to those in need. For 35 years, on a handshake, Ewing was there for his customers covering payroll or issuing credit when times were tough in the oilfields. As a salute to his customers, for 35 years, Ewing organized an annual Dove Hunting trip for the Signal Hill Curley's crew to Gila Bend, Arizona.

Ewing was known as the unofficial mayor of Gila Bend over the Labor Day Weekend. He would rent out the entire Space Age and Payless Motels and was legendary for his sharpshooting skills and hollering "my bird" before his epic opening night dove feed. Ewing and Gerrie became avid golfers in the early 1970's and convinced several other neighborhood couples to join Old Ranch Country Club in Seal Beach. Known as the "Hic and Hackers," Gerrie and Ewing organized many golf trips over the years and traveled with their friends to Hawaii, Palm Springs, Ojai, San Diego and Las Vegas for memorable golf outings. From 1975 to 1984, Ewing was the weekend chef to many of the Turner kids' friends. "You are always welcome to stay for dinner," our Dad would say and eat they would! He fed half of the Los Al Griffin football team over a ten-year span from 1969 to 1979. Filet Mignon and Lobster was always on the menu and grilled to order. Mom & Dad were always up for a celebration and party-planning was their specialty.

Birthdays, graduations, costume parties, Rose Bowl, Super Bowl and the Turner's famous Curley's chili "joke" parties were among the most popular parties, but their favorite party was a Cocktail Party! Family vacations were a big priority for Ewing and Gerrie. From Donner Lake, Mammoth, Hawaii, Bass Lake, trips to Colorado, Mexico, Canada, Lake Arrowhead and finally a "cabin" the 'Hillbilly Hilton' in Canyon Lake, CA. After the kids went off to college, Gerrie and Ewing traveled extensively throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe with many of their closest friends for many years. Ewing and Gerrie sold their Rossmoor home in 1995 and moved to Canyon Lake to set up shop for the next nine years on their 13th tee box home at Canyon Lake Country Club. In 2004, Gerrie and Ewing were on the move again to Phoenix, AZ to settle into their sunset years. Mom & Dad loved their Arizona sunsets in the Sonoran Desert.

Ewing is now at home, resting in peace with the Lord with his beloved wife, and the many dogs they raised, including their especially cute "Cupcake" who passed on the same day as Ewing. As parents, they always said "Dogs go to heaven, too." Ewing is survived by: his daughters, Dr. Pamelee Turner Santesteban of Scottsdale, AZ, Jana Lynn Turner of Newport Beach; his sons, Kerry Ewing Turner and daughter-in-law Alicia of Rossmoor, Kevin Michael Turner and daughter-in-law Perrin of Coto De Caza; grandchildren Austin Fairbourn, Ashley Turner, Patrick, Riley, and Lily Turner; grandson-in-law Charlie, and great-granddaughters, Turner Marie and Jennings James Fairbourn. He is also survived by his third adoptive son, Robert Harrison Bowles, of Denver, CO and wife Lynn and their four children.

In lieu of flowers, Ewing is being honored with donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/donate). Ewing's life was celebrated with military honors, an intimate family Catholic funeral mass in Scottsdale, AZ on Saturday, April 4, 2020 with interment at Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ.---Published in Orange County Register on Apr. 10, 2020

Ed comment:

When news arrives of the death of any former KOM leaguer an attempt is made to inform his teammates from the year(s) he played. In the case of Ewing Turner contact was made with Dick McCoy in Omaha, Nebr. Here is the reply from Molly McCoy. “Just opened our iPad and saw your news so glad Dick had gotten to visit with him. That was a very nice obit of his interesting life. We are getting along well in our new life style but miss seeing our family. We do take a ride a couple times a week maybe DQ and then back home. Hope you and your family are doing well.” Love Molly and Dick

Note from faithful reader-- Bill Clark

This is a note from former major league scout, Bill Clark.

I just read the latest Flash Report and continue to be intrigued by your ability to dig out guys that have been forgotten – or never really known – for 70 years. I’ve been doing a bit of it on Ancestry, but in regard to historical data on folks who have been dead in our county for 150 years. I’m beginning to find my way around. Old dogs do learn new tricks./ And I’m damned sure old. I’ll be 88 soon. That means I can be played like a piano.

I’m still grinding out five columns a week and, even though I’m staying at home in an effort to reach Age 88 and beyond with all my systems working, I have no problem conjuring up something of interest – at least to me. I’m about the only one who reads them.

Tomorrow’s bird column about an eight-day escape from home to bird a dozen different spots in mid-Missouri occupied only by the birds and the sole birder – ma way to relieve the boredom of four walls and a computer.

Keep on sending KOM League news, even if only you and I are reading these days.

OL Clark

Ed comment:

With the foregoing in mind these are some tidbits of information, recently uncovered, that will be of little interest to most readers but might be what it takes to get Ol Clark through this time of Covid whatever number it is.

It dawned on Yours truly, in recent days, that this forum might be putting out as much news as outlets such as ESPN and the sports departments of FOX, NBC, ABC, CBS et. al. At least what you find in this report is true, mostly.

Leading the age parade

The lone reader of these reports in Canada, Barry McMahon, mentioned that with the passing of Shannon Deniston who was the oldest living former KOM leaguer. That honor now rests with Robert Field of Hutchinson, Kansas who played for the 1946 Miami, Oklahoma Blues. The following are those born in 1922-23-25 and 1925.

Robert E. Field-- 8/27/1922 (Miami 1946)

Willis Frank Carruth-- 9/30/1922 (Bartlesville 1948)

Ruel WilliamWaggener--10/23/1923 (Pittsburg and Bartlesville 1946 then Bartlesville 1947)

Jasper Bono-- 3/15/1924 (Chanute 1946)

Nicholas Kucher --11/1/1924 (Ponca City 1947)

John Lawrence Bulkley --1/5/1925 (Chanute 1946-47)

William Edward McProuty --2/27/1925 (Independence 1947)

Robert J. Kapinus-- 4/10/1925 (Iola 1946)

Peter S. Maropis--9/27/1925 (Bartlesville 1948)

To my knowledge neither Jasper Bono and Nicholas Kucher have middle names. If they had one now it might well be “Longevity.”

One the opposite end of the spectrum the youngest living former KOM leaguers were born in 1933. There are 28 men who have or will reach the 87 mile marker this year. Those born from August to December are the youngest of the group. They are:

Robert L. Zuccarini-- 12/15/1933 (1951 Pittsburg Browns)

Bobby Uriah Elkins-- 12/9/1933 (1950 Ponca City Dodgers)

Arvil Lee Coonradt—12/6/1933 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)

James Joseph Cesanek—11/30/1933 (1952 Iola Indians)

Theodore James Downey—11/6/1953 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)

Thomas J. Guderian—10/14/1933 (1952 Blackwell Broncos)

Joseph Daniel Parisi—9/25/1933 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)

Vernon Leroy Summers—9/10/1933 (1952 Bartlesville/Pittsburg Pirates)

William Ellsworth Eastburn—9/4/1933 (1951 Carthage Cubs)

Les G. Machen Jr.—8/9/1933 (1952 Ponca City Dodgers)

Joseph C. “Corky” Buckstead—8/5/1933 (1951 Bartlesville Pirates 1952 Bartlesville/Pittsburg)

A reader enjoyed a recent tale

John: That story of the young man telling Miss XXXX, the roving teacher, that if she passed away he would be the ugliest person in the world was hysterical! I don't suppose you know if Miss XXXX continued to teach, or if after receiving that candid remark from one of her students, she tendered her resignation and joined a carnival as the world's ugliest woman?

Regardless John, keep up the good work. During these very trying times, your reports offer a great diversion from all the negativity in our lives. Sincerely, Leo Downey

Ed reply:

The Miss XXXX was about the meanest teacher I ever encountered. She had been the principal at one of the grade schools and she was finally relegated to roving status in her last year or two of employment

Once, in our geography class, she came upon a boy who had his book opened to the map of the world. He had a pencil with string tied to it. The string was touching the Pacific Ocean. Miss XXXX was looking over his shoulder and inquired as to what he was doing. He turned to her with a shhh! and said, “Be quiet before you scare the fish away.”

Miss XXXX had long boney fingers and enjoyed placing them under students collar bones and pulling upward. At my 50th high school reunion the brother of the boy who was caught fishing in class told me a tale I don’t recall. He said that I once warned Miss XXXX if she grabbed my collarbone that she would have my mother to deal with and she wouldn’t like the result. I can’t believe I said it but if I did I’m proud of myself.

Comment:

This is basically for the readers who attended Carthage schools at the same time as Yours truly. Miss XXXX parents came to the United States, from Ireland. Miss XXXX’s father was a tailor who passed away in 1925. By that time his daughter had reached the age of 41 and thus when my age group arrived on the scene Miss XXXX was already of retirement age and not much in the frame of mind to tolerate much from students of my generation.

Until recent days I was never able to track the fate or whereabouts of Robert Glynn Carter. He caught, briefly, for the 1952 Ponca City Dodgers but made a living scouting for them for many years. He was born July 1, 1932 in Downsville, Louisiana. He was assigned to Ponca City from the Valdosta, Georgia club on July 15, 1952.

After his playing days, which ended in 1956, he scouted for the Los Angeles Dodgers from 1958—1965 and then spent two years, 1967-68 doing the same job for the Philadelphia Phillies

Carter passed away July 17, 2003 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

This is a link to Robert Glynn Carter’s Sporting News card: digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/15035/...

In reviewing these cards just remember that there are omissions and other mistakes on them at times. The Item Description section is how the person summarizing the card deciphered it. Some names on the item description are far from the real thing. For example I tried finding Travis Kunce of the Miami Owls. I won’t go into the details. However, I pointed out how that got interpreted from the original card. It was documented and sent to Jack Morris of baseball necrology fame and he sent it along to the research group to make the change.

Ed note:

Carter’s photo is the one accompanying this report on the Flickr site: It was taken while he was in high school at Ouachita High School in Monroe, Louisiana.

Larry Glenn Smith

This gentleman was another member of the 1952 Ponca City Dodgers who they released on May 10. That is shown on his Sporting News card. It appears he went to Abbeyville, Louisiana of the Evangeline league for the rest of the season and after that his baseball career was nothing more than insertions on an index card kept in St. Louis by the Spinks and Sons. Peruse this one: digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/132212...

Unfortunately, there was nothing on his Sporting News card to indicate his place of birth and as yet I haven’t deciphered anything on Ancestry.com that would provide definitive information.

Wayne Parge may have been Wayne Parks—but probably not

Another fellow who showed up in Ponca City for a brief visit in 1952 was a gentleman only identified in an Associated Press line score. It showed up as Parg, Parq, Parge and Parks without a first name. Over the years a search was made for persons of that age range and the closest one ever found was Wayne Parge, a right handed pitcher from Malaka Township, Iowa.

Nothing definitive was ever found on this person after he left his Iowa farm home. In recent days an attempt was made to find someone fitting that profile and this was located. digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/173852... The person on this card would have been the property of the St. Louis Browns. When he was on the inactive list he could have possibly been sent to Ponca City for a “look see.” However, if I attempted to win this case in the court of law, with that amount of evidence, I’d lose my case, big time. In short this guy has me stumped.

It wasn’t Boerger but rather Boeger

A quarter century ago the name of Gerald Paul Boerger was added to the KOM league database on the basis that he was signed by the New York Giants out of St. Louis, Mo. and sent to Chanute, Kansas on July 1, 1948. He lasted until July 3 and his KOM league career was over. However, years of searching produced no trail on the fellow. Then, on a hunch the spelling of his last name was “tinkered” with and a search was made for Gerald Paul Boeger. This was found on the Internet: Gerald Paul Boeger Obituary. “It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gerald Paul Boeger (Fort Myers, Florida), born in Saint Louis, Missouri, who passed away on January 31, 2018, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family. You may also light a candle in honor of Gerald Paul Boeger or send a beautiful flower arrangement to the funeral service. The link to the obituary is: www.everhere.com/us/obituaries/fl/fort-myers/gerald-paul-...

Mr. Boeger was born January 13, 1929 in St. Louis. His Sporting News card, after his short stint in Chanute was filled with: being released, put on disabled list, reinstated, released, placed on suspended list, reinstated and released. Here is the document verifying what was just shared. digital.la84.org/digital/collection/p17103coll3/id/13196/...

Flash Report loses another reader

It is with a heavy heart that I must pass along the news about Doc Martin. He is home with Jesus as of March 19th. He died four days after his 99 birthday. Clara Dee Martin-Omaha, Nebraska.

Ed comment:

Not many people, aside from steel guitar aficionados would know that name. However, he was a legend back in the days of Red Foley’s nationally syndicated “Ozark Jubilee” aired in the 1950’s from Springfield, Mo. Yours truly was aware of Doc for one of my grade and high school classmates lived a block from me and was his brother-in-law.

A number of years ago contact was made with Doc and one thing led to another and he became the recipient of these reports. I think some of you might have an interest in knowing more about him. His given name was Ulyan Alan Martin. There was no obituary filed for him, according to his widow, and in its place a trio of links are being shared. The first link is a television interview he did in 2016 in Springfield, Mo. The second one is him playing on a live performance of the Ozark Jubilee in the late 1950’s and the third contains a clip of three famous men going inside the Jewell Theater in Springfield in 1958. One of the men is the greatest baseball whoever played in that town (or any other for that matter), the other is the most successful cowboy star of all-time and the third is that of Pat Boone’s father-in-law. You will have to watch closely or you’ll miss it. But, I suspect all of you have time on your hands these days. If any of you suffer from anxiety or hyper activity I’ll give you a hint. The clip of the three famous men is around the seven minute mark of the third clip.

When my friend from grade and high school attended the Ozark Jubilee with his brother-in-law, Doc Martin, Red Foley’s youngest daughter took a liking to him. We’ll call that friend Darrell, for that was his name. Darrell always claimed he was never too fond of Red’s daughter but Red had an older one who caught the eye of Pat Boone and they married and he and his wife had daughter (Debbie) who enjoyed a fine singing career. I think Debbie made some money singing “You Light Up My Life.” www.google.com/search?q=Debbie+Boone+You+LIght+up+my+life...

In my humble opinion this was Red Foley’s best song. I’m sure the group backing him on this was Elmo Fagg and the Blue Ridge Quartet. www.google.com/search?q=red+foley+peace+in+the+valley&amp...

While we are on the topic of hit tunes of the Foley/Boone family I suppose then one Pat Boone got from Richard Penniman (Little Richard) was the most rambunctious of them all: www.google.com/search?q=pat+boone+tutti+frutti&oq=Pat...

It is recommended you listen to all those songs and thus take your mind off either the shortcoming of this writing effort or the miserable news of the current health issue around the planet. In case you wish to compare Little Richard to Pat Boone on the Tutti Frutti tune I’m sure you know how to Google it.

The report continues.

This is name dropping time. Many years later Yours truly encountered Pat Boone in a book shop at a major airport. In those instances you don’t want to say something stupid like “Oh, you’re Pat Boone, aren’t’ you?” We exchanged pleasantries and I inquired about the young daughter of Red Foley who dated Darrell. Boone was surprised that such a question was asked and then filled me in on Jenny’s whereabouts and family.

Another reader was lost in recent days and it hit close to home

It is my belief that the recent articles on Shannon Deniston caught the eye of many readers. One of my late readers knew me about as well and as long as anyone on this distribution list. The news of his passing was shared by his widow. He was my last living first cousin. There is a whole lot I could say about Jimmy Ray Harrison but will let the following link do it for me. Without doubt he had the most eventful life of anyone in the Hall/Harrison clan from which I sprung. I taught him everything I knew about martial arts which was nothing. I now introduce you to “Cousin Jim.”

Winding down

I shall close even though there is much more to share. On the drawing table are some stories about former KOM leaguers on whom some extensive research has been compiled in recent days.

When, and if, I ever get around to it there will be minor to voluminous information on heretofore obscure former KOM leaguers: William D. White, Raymond Harvey Buckner, Charles Hertzer, Thomas E. Johnson, William Horace Sibson Jr., Carroll Hoffman, William Huffman, Jack Clayton Jean, Robert Westgate, George Francis Paul, Don Mathews and possibly a host of others.

The latest quality urban development in Tokyo, located at the once notorious area of Roppongi: The Tokyo Midtown. The sprawling complex is not too far from its major competitor, the Roppongi Hills, which already has its lease of life since a couple of years ago and is hugely successful.

At the Tokyo Midtown (TM), the formula is quite similar to that of Roppongi Hills (RH):

1. Prominent architects and designers (KPF at RH; and SOM at TM)

2. Huge and trendy shopping mall

3. Museum (Mori Art Museum at RH, and Suntory Museum at TM)

4. Luxury Hotel (Grand Hyatt at RH; and Ritz Carlton at TM)

5. First Grade office towers and tenants

6. Urban Garden

7. Art installation

8. Cultural Anchor (Asahi TV at RH; Design Sight at TM)

Based on my experience at both, the mall at the Midtown is more luxurious and elegant, but at Roppongi Hills, it is more lively and successfull, with more diverse and quality tenants. The Grand Hyatt at Roppongi is much better than the boring Ritz Carlton. The restaurants and food choice at Roppongi is unbeatable. Midtown is quite deserted and "cold", whereas Roppongi Hills is very lively and happening.

SOM / Skidmore, Owings, Merrills, Pritzker Prize Winner (1988)

My latest hand cut jigsaw, made by Howard Smeeton of HS Puzzles. The image is from my favourite painter Edward Burne-Jones.

Cupid discovering Psyche was a favourite subject of Burne-Jones who completed at least 5 paintings of the subject. This one is dated 1867 and is at Manchester Art Gallery. You can see a number of the other versions on this website:

publications.ngv.vic.gov.au/artjournal/edward-burne-jones...

"In 1865 Burne-Jones had begun the preparatory drawings for William Morris’s illustrated epic poem The Earthly Paradise. A section of Morris’s twenty-four episodic tales was the story of Cupid and Psyche, based on Lucius Apuleius’s The Golden Ass from the second century AD. The first edition of The Earthly Paradise greatly compromised Morris’s original concept. Printed using a standard font, it was released without the intended forty-four wood engravings which Burne-Jones had designed to accompany it.7 This overly ambitious project was abandoned in 1868, partly because of the impossibility of finding a modern typeface that could be satisfactorily integrated with the illustrations.

Despite this setback to the main project, the Cupid and Psyche narrative became a favourite of Burne-Jones’s and inspired many of his works for the next thirty years.8 The youthful daughter of a king, Psyche was considered so beautiful by her people that she was favoured over Venus. Slighted by this disregard, Venus sent Love, or Cupid, to destroy Psyche with a poisoned arrow. During the heat of summer, Psyche fell asleep by a marble fountain set within a hedge of woodbine and red roses. Cupid, finding her there, was overwhelmed by her beauty and succumbed to his desire to kiss her. He arranged an elaborate ruse so that he could visit his lover under the anonymity of darkness. An object of human adoration, Psyche is vulnerable to Cupid’s destructive yet adoring gaze and Venus’s envy. "

Tianliang Ma

~ a Taiwanese social reformer, philosopher, photographer and film director

“Touching Fairness and Justice”

馬天亮

~ 臺灣的社會改革者,哲學家,攝影師,和電影導演

《感動的公平與正義》

TianLiang Maa, alternative spelling: Tianliang Ma, also known as Theophilus Raynsford Mann; Ma, Tianliang; Chinese: 馬天亮; 马天亮.

SUMMARY

TianLiang Maa is a naturalist, occultist, Buddhist and Taoist. In 1982, Maa developed a technique for abstract photography, applied “Rayonism” into photographic works. Maa staged 32 individual, extraordinary exhibitions around Taiwan, who was the first exhibitor around Formosa. Maa’s works is the beginning of modernization in the modern abstract arts in the world. At the University of Oxford, Maa’s attractive topic was “A View of Architectural History: Towns through the Ages from Winchester through London Arrived at Oxford in England”; also an author at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Michigan in the United States; an alumnus from Christ Church College at the University of Oxford in England, the University of Glamorgan in Wales, and National Taiwan University in Taipei on Taiwan. Maa’s works have been quoted by the scholars many times, making Maa one of the highly cited technological, artistic, and managing public administrators in the academia. Maa was listed in “Taiwan Who’s Who In Business” © 1984, 1987, 1989 Harvard Management Service.

Early Life and Record of Genealogy

TianLiang Maa possesses both Taiwanese and German surnames from birth. Usually, whenever anyone asks Maa about where he comes from, he would reply “Formosa” as he grew up and was educated in the Far East and lives in Taiwanese and Japanese lifestyles. Moreover, he often teaches and educates younger generations based on the methods of the Far Eastern teaching he experienced when he was young, though he does not oppose the Western ways of teaching and thinking. Maa takes great pride in his roots, which go back 150 years (since 1864); Maa’s ancestry originates and creates generations, and prepares younger generations to succeed their personality and ethical standards and integrity.

Education in Taiwan and a Brief of Latest Generation of History in Taiwan / Formosa

In 1980, Maa obtained his postgraduate certificate from the Graduate Institute of Electrical Engineering of National Taiwan University in Taipei; successfully completed another graduate studies in Information dBase III Plus and Taiwanese Traditional Chinese Mandarin Information System at National Sun Yat-Sen University in Kaohsiung in 1989.

In history, the Portuguese explorers discovered and called the island (Taiwan), “Formosa” (meaning “Beautiful Island”) in 1590. They are non-Chinese people; it was long a Chinese and Japanese pirate base. Fighting continued, between its original inhabitants of Taiwanese and the Chinese settlers, into the 19th century. In 1894-95 first Sino-Japanese War that ended in Manchus of the Qing (Ching) dynasty defeat, the late Manchu Qing Government forced to cede Formosa to Japan. This result was made by the Treaty of Shomonoseki in 1895 and remained under Japanese control until the end of the Second World War. Early on, Taiwan was conquered by the Qing in 1683 and for the first time became part of older China dynasty. However, today, the home country of Maa’s origin has around 165 institutions (93 universities) of higher education, which now has one of the best-educated populations in Asia. Among the major public (state) ones are the National Taiwan University (NTU) at Taipei, and National Sun Yat-Sen University (NSYSU) at Kaohsiung. NSYSU is also called National Chun-Shan University; according to Times Higher Education 2010-2011, NSYSU ranks as the 3rd university in Taiwan, 21st in Asia, and 163rd worldwide. National Taiwan University is ranked 51 to 60 ranks on Times Higher Education World University Rankings - Top Universities by Reputation 2013, the United Kingdom (see www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/...); King's College London (KCL) (21st in the world and 6th in Europe in the 2010, QS World University Rankings), the University of London, and University of Southern California (is one of the world's leading private research universities, located in the heart of Los Angeles), afterward.

Backing to Maa’s early school-time of Taiwan Provincial Kaohsiung Industrial Senior High School (Kaohsiung Municipal Kaohsiung Industrial High school), the professional technical education, which is equivalent to Advanced Level General Certificate of Education, commonly referred to as an A-level in the United Kingdom; China Electronic Engineering College, the distance learning programme, which is in equivalence as UK’s Diploma of Higher Education / Undergraduate Diploma (as an Associate Degree in the United States). An additional, his middle education was taught by the Kaohsiung Municipal Chihjh (Ci Sian) Junior High School; and Kaohsiung Municipal San Min Elementary School was his first school in Taiwan.

Early Career

In 1989, Maa instituted Maa’s Office of Electrical Engineer, he settled himself in electrical technology and industries as a chief engineer in his early years. He put his professional and precise knowledge to good account in business management. A formal business management with business relationship established to provide for regular services, dealings, and other commercial transactions and deed. He had many customers having a business and credit relationship with his firm then he was a successful engineer.

Study Abroad and Immigration into the United Kingdom

In 1998, Maa studied abroad when he arrived in Great Britain; he studied at School of Built Environment, the University of Glamorgan (Prifysgol Morgannwg) in Merthyr Tydfil, Pontypridd, Wales for a master of science in real estate appraisal. Until the summer of 2000, Maa completed an academic course on “Towns through the Ages” from Christ Church College at the University of Oxford (is ranked the 2nd place worldwide on The Times Higher Education, World University Rankings 2012-2013

www.timeshighereducation.co.uk/world-university-rankings/...) in England. Afterward, Maa immigrated into the United Kingdom in the early year of 2004.

PHILOSOPHICAL VIEWS

Maa is a naturalist; he trusts spiritual naturalism and naturalistic spirituality, which teaches that “the unknown” created this wonderful world. “The unknown” arranged the nature with its law so that everything in nature is kept balanced and in order. However, human beings failed to control themselves, deliberately went against the law of nature, and resulted in disasters, which we deserved. He also is an occultist, a Taoist, and a Buddhist; but in Britain, he frequently goes to Christian and Catholic churches, where he makes friends with pastors and fathers as well as churchgoers. In his mind, he recognizes “Belief is truth held in the mind; faith is a fire in the heart”. He is always a freethinker, does not accept traditional, social, and religious teaching, but based on his ideas: a thought or conception that potentially and actually exists in his mind as a product of mental activity - his opinion, conviction, and principle. If people have not come across eastern classics and philosophy, we are afraid that people would never understand TianLiang Maa. People cannot judge an eastern philosopher based on western ways of thinking. He studies I Ching discovering eastern classics of ancient origin consisting of 64 interrelated hexagrams along with commentaries. The hexagrams embody Taoist philosophy by describing all nature and human endeavour in terms of the interaction of yin and yang, and the classics may be consulted as an oracle.

Back in the 1990s when Maa just arrived at England, he had been offered places to do Ph.D. and LL.M. degrees (degree in Law and Politics of the European Union) by several western professors in the Great Britain. He has met all the requirements for postgraduate admissions to study at UK’s universities.

During his time at Oxford, he learnt a lot of British culture and folk-custom while carrying out research with many British and Western professors, experts, and archaeologists. This proves that Maa understands various aspects in British society, culture, and lifestyles. Of course, he does not fully understand about the perspectives of thinking of a typical British. For example, what would be the most valuable in life for a British person? What would a British want to gain from life? What is the goal in life for a British? Is it fortune or a lover? Alternatively, perhaps honour? On the other hand, maybe being able to travel around the world and see the world?

FAIRNESS and JUSTICE

As TianLiang Maa’s (馬天亮) saying are:

“Touching Fairness and Justice”

Feel good about themselves, but do not know the sufferings of the people...

Who can get easy life like them?

What is profile of modern society?

What type and style is truly solemn for this society identify?

Where “the characterization” is? Who can see? Did you see it?

Jurisprudence and Political Philosophy and Perspectives

Maa ever studied judicial review and governmental action, the impact of law and legal techniques, constitutional mechanisms for the protection of basic rights, and ensuring the integrity of commercial activity, the impact of law and legal techniques on government, policymaking, and administration, as well as the creation of markets. He tries to understand these critical trends in the political development of modern state. Maa will combine both theoretical and empirical approaches, and the conditions for democratic transition and the nature of state development in the ‘post-industrial’ era of globalisation and economic integration.

According as Maa’s legal experiences, he comprehend that “the knowledge of the law is like a deep well, out of which each man draught according to the strength of his understanding”, and, law and arbitrary power are in eternal enmity. He is also sure law and institutions are constantly tending to gravitate like clocks; they must be occasionally cleansed, and wound up, and set to true time.

The government issues a decree - an authoritative order having the force of law, which charged with putting into effect a country's laws and the administering of its functions. Any of the officials promulgate a law or put into practice relating to the government charged with the execution and administration of the nation's laws then they announce and carry out the creation of any order or new policy that will be responsible for the people.

Maa had knowledge in connexion with construction law; he also understands architectural arts, and as well learnt the forms by combining materials and parts include as an integral part concerning modern construct. I ever built urban buildings and rural architecture in different styles under new housing and building projects by the governmental administration and construction corporations.

Right now, Maa studies the problems caused by ethnic disputes and human armed conflicts in the modern society resulted code of mixed civil and criminal procedure. He wishes an agreement or a treaty to end human hostilities - the absence of war and other hostilities around the world. The interrelation and arrangement of freedom from quarrels and disagreement become harmonious relations living in peace with each other. Actually, erect peace in more friendly ways of making friendships for modern human society is comfortable in my ideal. It is like building monolithic architecture: houses and buildings for the people. Maa would like to do “something beautiful for `the unknown`”.

In the ethnic disagreement and armed conflicts as concerning the poor people and children notwithstanding they live through a bad environment on any of poor or crowded village or town in a particular manner - lived frugally. However, after years of industrialisation as a more educated population, becomes more aware of global plenum, continuing to be alive. Environmental groups are increasing and lobbing government will legislate to stop bad environmental and social practices. The establishments of human rights’ wide and untiring efforts will be alleviated people’s suffering. And as well the poor people shall meet and debate sustainable development and for a concerted government led action towards sustainability is an example that the younger generation are concerned for the future. It shall be making the younger easier for their life and make better on their lives, and help them to build a better future.

In present world, Maa really knows the full meanings of “Fundamental Human Rights and Equal Opportunities for the People”. He thinks ethics is the moral code governing the daily conduct of the individual toward those about him / her. It represents those rules or principles by which men and women live and work in a spirit of mutual confidence and service. Without going into the question of how an ethical code was formulated or why anybody should obey it, we can look at the matter in a common-sense fashion with reference to its influence upon our legal affairs. In brief, from the law point of view, a reputable ethical code embodies the qualities of accuracy, dependability, fair play, sound judgement, and service. It is based upon honesty.

No person can have an ethical code that concerns him / her alone. Living in society, as he / she must, a person encounters others whose rights must be respected as well as his / her own. An honest regard for the rights of others is an essential element of any decent code of ethics, and one that anyone must observe if anybody intends to follow that code. After all, ethics is not something apart from human beings. Indeed, there is no such thing apart from our actions and us. It is the duty, therefore, of every man and woman in legal affairs to see that his daily associations with others are truly in conformity with the plain meaning of the Ten Commandments: “Thou shalt not barratry, thou shalt not bear false witness, thou shalt not receive illegal fee and the rest”.

The knowledge Maa has, in connection with legal affairs, was usually come from his precious experiences of his past over ten year’s law and political careers. In an interval regarded as a distinct period of 1980s, he studied mixed civil and crime, and the code of mixed civil and criminal procedure for the problems caused by ethnic disputes and human armed conflicts in the modern society. He was especially one who maintains the language and customs of the group, and social security in Taiwan.

Since 30 July of 1988, Maa settled himself in law as a chief executive and scrivener at Central Legal, Real Estate, and Accounting Services Office; it is in the equivalent to a solicitor of the United Kingdom. The Office provided full legal, accounting, real estate, and commercial services to the public. He did his job as a person legally appointed by another to act as his or her agent in the transaction of business, specifically one qualified and licensed to act for plaintiffs and defendants in legal proceedings and affairs. Over and above Maa was a chairman and executive consultant at Taiwan Credit Information Company®, founded in 1994. The company offered services to the public in response to need and demand in the area of credit information.

Maa had excellent experiences in political and law work was pertaining to mixed civil and crime, the code of mixed civil and criminal procedure, construction, and commercial law abroad. The experiences of legal services related to the rights of private individuals and legal proceedings concerning these rights as distinguished. In the criminal proceedings, he did many cases for the defendants. Although an act committed or omitted in violation of a law forbidding or commanding it and for which punishment is imposed upon conviction; but he also laid legal claim, required as useful, just, proper, or necessary to the defendants under the human rights in the meantime. This provision ensures to the defendant a real voice in the subject.

The men whose judgement we respect are those who do not allow prejudices, preferences, or personalities to influence their decisions. Profit and self-aggrandisement are likewise ignored in their determination to reach an equitable and fair settlement. What are the basic principles upon which good judgement is founded? A keen intellect, a normal emotionally, a through understanding of human nature, experience of law work, sincerity, and integrity.

Developed a Technique for Abstract Photography and Abstractionist

In 1982, Maa developed a technique for abstractive photography, which applied “rayonism” to the photographic works. In November of 1984, Maa was 26-year-old, he instructed many professors and students of National Taiwan Normal University in photography of abstract impressionism and rayonnisme in Taipei, Taiwan. The word “rayonnisme” is French for rayonism - a style of abstract painting developed in 1911 in Russia.

馬天亮『光影』攝影特展(個人展32場)1983〜1985年.

Maa staged 32 individual, extraordinary exhibitions and annual special exhibitions on photography of abstractive image and Rayonnisme around Taiwan / Formosa. Maa was the first exhibitor around the country. All of the invited displays were by the Chinese Government, cultural and artistic organisations, and sponsors. Maa’s earliest exhibition took place in the National Taiwan Arts Education Institute (Museum) on 19 December 1983 when Maa was 25 years old; Maa was the youngest exhibitor in the history of the Institute in any solo exhibitions. The Institute that was opened in March 1957, kept a collection of Maa’s work. It is currently updating the Institute’s internal organisation and strengthening co-operation with leading institutes and museums around the world. Meanwhile, it widened the institute’s scope to increase its emphasis on Taiwan’ regional culture and folk arts.

Modernization in the Modern Abstract Arts of Taiwan

Maa’s works is the beginning of modernization in the modern abstract arts of Taiwan, China and greater Chinese society in the world. The use of “modernisation” as a concept that is opposed to “Traditional” of “Conservative” ideas began with the approach of the 20th century. It spreads rapidly through academic circles, and was broadly accepted as a means to reform society. Chinese Manchu Qing (Ching) dynasty’s first steps toward modernisation began in the Tung-chih era (1862-1874) with the “Self-Empowerment Movement”. During the late 19th century, as late Manchu dynasty was confronted on all sides by foreign aggression, voices throughout society debated the most effective means to reform and strengthen the country. Some advocated “combining the best of East and West”, while others went so far as to call for “complete Westernisation”. Taiwan was at the centre of these waves of reform. Faced with direct threats against the island by foreign enemies, the Chinese Ching dynasty court took special steps to push Taiwan’s modernisation.

In a role just like that of a gardener wanting to create a rich and fertile environment for the seeds of culture, one in which Maa may sprout, grow and bloom. Maa aims to provide an educational stimulus for society by introducing his works - Maa can express the neo-romantic spirit deftly from various creations and supporting international artistic exchanges. Maa believes that the first step in creating such a new and independent state is the real emergence of culture and arts, for which the art and science of designing and erecting buildings, and fine arts (including photography and motion picture) of the civilization is a good measurement of success. For the foreseeable future, Maa should be continuing to forge ahead, working diligently and unceasingly towards its mission of raising China and Formosa / Taiwan’s culture in his spare time.

Became an Author and a Scholar

In 1980, TianLiang Maa completed his first book - scenario original “The Soul's Sentimentalizing”, also named: “Hun Yun : Jin Qi Tu Rui” 電影原著《魂韻》(衿契吐蕊) then Maa was at the age of 22. In 1983, The General Library of the University of California, Berkeley in the United States of America, collected and kept Maa’s writings - scenario original 「魂韻 : 衿契吐蕊」“Hun Yun : jin qi tu rui”, included a musical composition of his own – “Sonate Nr. 1 C-dur op. 3 für Klavier (piano)”, composed on 3rd April 1977 then Maa was 18 years old. The works were published in 1980; the theme was based on “The Soul's Sentimentalizing”. Another masterpiece was an Album of Academic Work for News Publication “TianLiang Maa (Theophilus Raynsford Mann) Photographic Exhibition of Rayonnisme / Rayonism”, published in 1985. The Hathi Trust Digital Library, the University of Michigan also collected and kept Maa’s writings.

Authorship

Maa’s articles and writings were published in more than 200 different kinds of domestic and foreign magazines, newspapers, and periodicals, in the period between May of 1972 and 1990s. It was all started when Maa was just 13-year-old. Many of which have been very influential. These have been quoted by Western and Eastern scholars many times in the last few years, making Maa one of the highly cited technological, artistic, and managing public administrators in the world in the late 20th and early 21st century. The Ministry of the Interior in Taiwan had registered Maa’s professional writings and given him two certificates of copyright. The numbers are 33080 and 33081 on 4th July of 1985; and Taiwan’s Gazette of The Presidential Office issue No. 4499, featured his writings on 4th September 1985.
