The Cocopah Indian Tribe, known as the River People, have lived along the lower Colorado River and delta for centuries, maintaining their traditional and cultural beliefs throughout many political and environmental changes. Descended from the greater Yuman-speaking people who occupied lands along the Colorado River, the Cocopah had no written language, however, historical records have been passed on orally and by outside visitors. I couldn't believe this. There really is a store here called hoochi mama. Another example of where there's cultural appropriation due to language barriers (like the fact swear words in English have a lot less power both here and in Finland). This was within the main department store.

International Mother Language Day or IMLD is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. It was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November, 1999. Its observance was also formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages. The images of this album were taken on 20 February showing the preparation of the students of Dhaka Art Institute at Shahid Minar.
