Fellow Mary Catherine Boehmer brought a group of seven pre- and in-service English teachers, Fulbright ETAs Robert Borowik and Kayla Morton, and Fulbright Scholar Andrea Wyman to Mingachevir for tours of the city by local English students before attending the Azerbaijan English Teaching Association (AzETA) Mingachevir Branch Conference the following day.
International Mother Language Day or IMLD is an observance held annually on 21 February worldwide to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. It was first announced by UNESCO on 17 November, 1999. Its observance was also formally recognized by the United Nations General Assembly in its resolution establishing 2008 as the International Year of Languages. The images of this album were taken on 20 February showing the preparation of the students of Dhaka Art Institute at Shahid Minar.
