JavaOne - Dynamic Languages Panel (Tim Bray)

After reading a story about a fish who lives in a polluted stream, teachers learned how to lead a classroom activity that challenges students to create their own filters that can remove pollutants from stream water.

Translation Interpreters & Language Interpreters in Dubai from the House of Translation are highly qualified and experienced native linguists dealing with all the foreign languages.

Students from programs offered at USG and staff from the Priddy Library made "Multilingual Story Time" at the Gaithersburg Book Festival a success! The event was organized by the director of the Priddy Library, Irene Munster.

 

Student volunteers read stories printed in Spanish, French, Vietnamese, Hindi, Farsi and Korean to young children and their families at the festival.

Commonwealth University-Bloomsburg’s Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic recently hosted a special educational event in honor of National Speech-Language-Hearing Month — an opportunity to learn, connect, and take charge of your health-all while having fun with free hearing and balance screenings, educational games, and complimentary refreshments. The event was designed to raise awareness and support communication health in the community.

 

The Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic provides diagnostic and therapeutic services to children and adults with a wide range of communication and swallowing disorders. All clinical services are provided by graduate students in the speech-language pathology and audiology programs under the supervision of clinical supervisors, each certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the State of Pennsylvania Board of Examiners in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.

 

Language Science Day on Friday, October 28, 2022 at 2130 H.J. Patterson Hall. Event took place from 9 AM to 5 PM. These photos were taken in the afternoon.

The Sydney Opera House is a multi-venue performing arts centre at Sydney Harbour in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is one of the 20th century's most famous and distinctive buildings.

Sydney Opera House sits on Bennelong Point. Bennelong Point was named after Woollarawarre Bennelong, a senior Eora man at the time of the arrival of British colonisers in Australia in 1788.

 

The original cost estimate to build Sydney Opera House was $7 million. The final cost was $102 million and it was largely paid for by a State Lottery.

 

233 designs were submitted for the Opera House international design competition held in 1956. Jørn Utzon from Denmark was announced the winner, receiving ₤5000 for his design.

Construction was expected to take four years. It took 14 years. Work commenced in 1959 and involved 10,000 construction workers.

  

Sydney Opera House was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2007

 

There are more than 1 million roof tiles covering approximately 1.62 hectares sitting over the structure. They were made in Sweden.

 

Seven A380s could sit wing-to-wing on the site.

 

Sydney Opera House was opened by Queen Elizabeth II on 20th October, 1973. She has since visited four times, most recently in 2006.

UW-Madison’s Language Institute hosted World Languages Day on November 14, 2013 at Union South. This exciting, college-for-a-day experience introduces more than 600 Wisconsin high school students and their teachers to many of the world languages and cultural topics offered at UW-Madison. The event, which features faculty, students and staff, aims to inspire students to pursue a second or third language regardless of their educational and career goals.

Col. Phillip J. Deppert, the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center commandant, gave opening remarks at the Language Capital of the World Cultural Festival in Monterey May 14. Deppert’s remarks emphasized the city’s rich international culture. DLIFLC partners with the local community to promote events that further cultural understanding and appreciation, and strengthen the institute’s bond with the city. L.A. Speech & Language Therapy Centers Open House

Professor Henry Lo, a calligrapher from Hong Kong, came to Xu Guo Chan's Chinese 301 class on November 12, 2015, to give a brief introduction of Chinese calligraphy and instruct students to work on Chinese characters. The Confucius Institute offered supplies for the activity.
