We went on a tour of the San Diego Salt Works with the bird watchers from the Audubon Society recently. It was a relaxed 5-mile walk amongst a series of lagoons, with many stops to look at shore birds. I was getting some practice on using my 200mm plus a 2x extender, and managed to catch a few shots that are not blurry. Later, we did some bird watching on our own in a local wooded area, which quickly made me realize how much I appreciate a guided tour, and how much harder it is to get a decent shot of a bird in the bush versus out in the open.
Willet is a common resident of coastal marshes. Standing birds are very plain, but show prominent wing pattern in flight. Their call sounds like "pill-will-willet".

October already.. it seems 2022 is on our doorstep and I haven't even fully processed 2020! 😮
I'm enjoying my autumn holiday now (one of the few perks I have as a teacher). And besides doing a lot of resting.. I have also been doing lots of editing of my photos and videos.
In August, I visited a castle in the south of the Netherlands. And because we had a very disappointing cold wet summer, I opted for a maxi dress.

I know owning a castle like that is very expensive and not very practical.. but I'd love to dream. 😊
frustrations of the world getting to me so thinking of relocating, unfortunately no trees or birds and I had to abort landing due to a little malfunction of the booster rockets upon final approach.....
Less than 50 minutes before the Hopping Egret, this Great Blue Heron declared it was done with breakfast, with a screech and a splashy takeoff.
