A traditional but immensely frustrating 'game'. (Recently unearthed from the cupboard!).
It's all a question of balance!
This necklace is part of a series I did based on Labyrinths. It is Sterling Silver that has been etched, then 24k gold plated. It is set with garnets and a black onyx. They keyhole catch is an elegant addition.

This is the labyrinth at Kirkridge Retreat and Study Center, high atop the Kittatinny Ridge in the Poconos. It was constructed jointly during a retreat in 1999 by participants at Kirkridge and neighboring Columcille.
This is Betty and her property manager. The place is named for the labyrinth one can walk and contemplate, but Betty, a retired nurse, has become a master of herbal medicine, and has the garden to support her art.
"The labyrinth is a walking meditation. Take off your shoes, pause at the start and then slowly follow the path. There is one path to the centre and then you follow the same path back out. There are others on the journey. Take your time. If you have to wait that is a good thing probably. There is no rush! Taking care and paying attention to your soul, your true self, the you of you is important soul work. Use this journey to give your soul some time. Soul is also about your relationship to God - take time to be with God in this space."

This image (Palladium Print) is part of my Labyrinth series of night photography and was accepted into the Julia Dean 3rd annual Alternative Photography juried show in Venice, CA. The show will open in August 2006, so here is a sneak peek.
Labyrinth at Emory Presbyterian Church on North Decatur road. It is a contemporary "chalice" labyrinth, six circuit with switchbacks, an incorporation of classical with medieval design. The first switchback is lower left, second is upper left, then one crosses over to the upper right for the third, lower left for the fourth, inner lobe right for the fifth, then one crosses over to the inner switchback left which is the sixth and opens to the center, which has been decorated with a cross design. Material is paving stone of different colors (which I've enhanced a good deal here, appearing more as they would if wet). Setting is the front yard of the church on a busy road so you can make a public spectacle of yourself performing this private, meditative rite.
