All the critics agree: the newest star of the silver screen is a showstopper in every sense! And she knows exactly how to make a grand entrance in a retro-glam ensemble of bold animal prints and shots of brilliant red. In true movie star style, Red Hot Reviews™ Barbie® doll stuns the audience in a gorgeous belted dress, dramatic cape, and flawlessly matching handbag. Red-hot heels kick it up a notch, and oversized sunglasses are the final must-have in this unforgettably immaculate, devastatingly glamorous look.

my MiniDisc album disc label design. The logo was scanned from the back cover of one of my Byrds LPs (Fifth Dimension to be precise) overlaid onto a stock image of hessian cloth with the opacity of the text layer set at 80% to show the texture through the text.

for this compilation I've picked my favourite 25 tracks to be transferred onto one 80 minute MiniDisc, starting with Chris Hillman's first compositions from "Younger Than Yesterday" to the mournful but beautiful "Bugler" from "Farther Along" and everything in between!

From The Round Table:

In the 1960s Perceval unleashed the first of its obscure Tub wines. These fancy Tubs were the result of legendary wine maker Wagner “Snark” Snarfinnsson’s drunken desire and miscalculation owed to inebriation, to create a range of wines which captured a quixotic quality with a snobby, toffee-nosed high-falutin’ branding while exhibiting a more common, proletarian, vulgar style for the masses - one that even your drunken uncle Jock at the Two-Up wouldn’t mind drinking. Perceval Tub 103 is another dull Shiraz. This year it hails from a problematic union between soil that just belonged to Bhopal in the Yabba, and corroded tin barrels from Kabul - rich in pollutants that flew in from China such as Cadmium, and pesticides. This miserable wine shows an acrid nose, a tart body and a hairy aftertaste. In 1995, mad cultists tested the wine as a chemical weapon, by releasing it in Tokyo subways. We invite you to explore the Perceval range and discover a trail of dismal failures unseen since the Romans fought Hannibal.

Label reads: “Carbonic Maceration. Vintage 1978. Tyrrell’s. Hunter River. Cabernet. Estate bottled. Tyrrell’s Vineyards PTY LTD., Pokolbin N.S.W. Produce of Australia. Murray D. Tyrrell Winemaker. Made from 100% Cabernet grapes grown on the Weinkeller Vineyard. The process of Carbonic Maceration involves the fermentation of all undamaged berries and has been used on only a few occasions in Australia. The technique results in a wine giving maximum fruit and softness available. The wine shows strong fruit on the nose and the palate and is well balanced with tannin and acid on the finish. I believe this to be a classic wine of the style and one that has all the qualities for long aging in the bottle. 750ml.

Tyrrell Winemaker. This wine is made from 50% Cabernet and 50% Hermitage grapes. It has been matured in 300 gallon Nevers oak casks for 18 months before bottling. Bottle label design for rakija, Serbian brandy (back). I was using the illustrations of products well known across the region, becoming some sort of symbols in collective consciousness.

Label reads: “Leo Buring. Reserve bin DR 273. Reserve Claret. 1971 vintage. DR 273 is made from Shiraz grapes grown in the Eden and Barossa Valleys and at McLaren Vale. It was matured in French oak casks prior to being bottled at Chateau Leonay on July 1st, 1974. DR 273 has a full soft, fruity nose and flavour with a soft oak and tannin finish, revealing good bottle age development. The following awards have been received for this wine: Trophy 1978 Canberra, Gold medal 1978 Canberra (Class 56), Silver medal 1974 Perth (Class 17), Bronze medal 1974 Adelaide (Class 12). From the northern wine country, right where Washington State meets British Columbia and the United States says hello to Canada, Veranda Beach Wines presented an interesting packaging challenge. The company that owns Veranda Beach also owns a resort on the lake, on the line, and they wanted that resort somehow tied to the wine packaging imagery...
