Following the Orpheus’ workshop cycle where young writers and composers were invited to work on the myth of Orpheus and present an opera project, the creative team composed of Nuno da Rocha (composer) and Rita Fernandes (writer) met again in Helsinki for their first LAB in August 2016. For their second LAB they were joined by Portuguese director Pedro Ribeiro.
The creative team had the opportunity to develop further their project with the presence of an instrumental ensemble and an actress for the spoken role.

As usual I started out with my standard bits and bobs – gesso, acrylic paint, cheap watercolour paper and paintbrushes and whatnot, then I chose my other bits and bobs to use to create texture, and then I decided on my colours and mixed my washes. It was at this point I realised I may have some difficulty with the spraying as I didn’t have a little bottle – on the contrary I used one of those suitable for watering the leaves of plants because it was the only one I could find. I also only used acrylic paint, as I don’t have inks in general and I wouldn’t know what sort to use or anything so I didn’t want to risk it, really. I may try with inks in the future. So, anyway, I decided on my colours and mixed my washes…

Bizzotto Lab group... unfortunately the background was too bright! The colours don't look quite right due to the saturation from the window, however as a B&W photo it isn't too bad.
I ordered this awesome leash holder from www.bumblebellydesigns.etsy.com . I'd been watching her stuff for a while and when I saw the chocolate lab, I had to have it. It's a pretty neat leash/poo bag holder. I'm quite happy with my purchase.

For my object I use a analogue clock, to which I manually moved the dials into different times, then proceeded to overlap them over each other by making changes to their opacity. I also inverted the colors used so that they gelled together in a more cohesive way. I really wanted to reflect the way time looks to me when I have a deadline to meet, shown in the blurriness and the way the numbers separate from each other. I have composed my 5 images of the clock into one to create this picture i.e each dial represents another photo of the clock being layered on.
If inversion isn't allowed, then I have the clock without this effect on my photostream, but I really feel the inversion enhances the sense of distortion and speed. If you like this, feel free to check out some of my other photos for this lab.

Lab 2 - Fail.
I melted the nylon rope using a lighter. It turned into a liquid which quickly dried. I also streched it into thin lines while it was liquified.
