1952 Bristol Tramways & Carriage Co. LS 6G integral chassis and body, designed in conjunction with the Eastern Coach Works (ECW) as a joint venture, Reg.MOD978, at the Bristol Bus Show, Brislington, 27 July 2025. It has a coach body (with roof pod) and a Gardner 6LW 6-cylinder 8.4 litre diesel engine and is in the livery of the Royal Blue Coach Service, Fleet No.1291.

The LS, which meant ‘Light Saloon’, was 30ft long and introduced in 1950. 1,409 were manufactured. The LS was the first really successful British under-floor engine bus and one of the first to have unitary construction. The buses were fitted with Gardner 5G and 6G engines. Many were operated by companies within the Tilling Group including Southern National, Western National, Eastern National as buses and by Royal Blue as coaches.

MOD978 was delivered new to Southern National who used it in their associate company Royal Blue Coach Service in a C41F arrangement although in 1960 it was re-seated by ECW to become a C39F. It was withdrawn in 1968 and passed to several dealers eventually passing to Beeline, West Hartlepool in 1972 but it entered preservation soon afterwards.

In my opinion, a beautiful bus in a beautiful livery.
