Yeah, I went back. Who wouldn't? Crazy people? Maybe, but life is short.
She had found some old records, she wanted me to hear them. We debated rye vs cognac for her namesake. We found a lot to disagree on. It didn't matter.
They say third time's the charm. Well, number two did it for me. You never know how The Mother Road is gonna change your life.

Built on the site of a Jacobean house, it's notable cantilevered staircase was incorporated into this fine Georgian town house. Named "Kirby House" in 1874 after being purchased by local solicitor Thomas H Kirby it had fallen on hard times by the 20th century. Listed Grade II in 1955. The initial restoration estimate in 1959 was £10.000, but only £6000 could be raised, but what with procrastination (and a post war rebuilding boom ) CCC tried unsuccessfully to have it de-listed to broaden the options but the cost had reached £77.800 by 1971. The real heroes of this piece are the builders WA Blackburn who in 1980 bought it off the financially struggling developers (who'd bought it off CCC) and with Architects Crouch Butler & Savage, and historic consultants RS Melville they salvaged all they could and reproduced everything else using extensive photos taken during 1969. Sold to sun Life in 1982 it became Varley Hibbs & Co in 1987 and subsequently the Citizens Advice Bureau in 2013.
I have been inside twice - in the year 2000 and again in 2006 and was most impressed with what I could see.
My latest crush ... LOL. I discovered their cuteness sometime ago, and fell head over heels in love. Good thing is, they are affordable - if you catch the right auction, they can just be a buck or two each.

Her head was COVERED in stickers and pen which magic eraser and acetone could not remove all the discolouration. So instead of painting just around her eyes I did almost her whole head. Her ears are the only things that remain original colour. She wears a moxie girls dress and modified operetta shoes.
