Almost 70 years to the day of the expiry of the Big Four Grouping in favour of Nationalisation, York played host to three representatives of the groups which were to form British Railways in 1948.

These London Midland and Scottish Railway 'mixed traffic' locomotives were designed to haul both goods and passenger trains (mixed traffic).

Renders another unfailing performance heading 'the Diner' on its round trip via Leicester North, but regrettably 'donning' it's unbefitting train nameplate, GCR, 14/04/19
A view south with a good deal of steam age infrastructure surviving - including manual semaphore signalling, water column, lamp cabin fogman's hut.
Gonna use 3mm brass tubing for the rest of the pipework. But I still need to line it, so it's technically a WIP.
After the lining is complete, nothing will be done until I have an IRL model on hand.
Well I think that I have got all the various parts of the body joined together as well as I can. I've used a spine of Technic bricks pinned together and then hung the various body assemblies from that.
Not only that but I've been able to add some internal detailing. As you can probably guess from the amount of detailing, this is the end without the motor. Both the driving cars are identical with 3rd class seating throughout and a toilet.

Kelvin Central took the last remaining Fleetlines in the GRT owned Midland Bluebird fleet in late 1992. This included LMS 155W one the last 6 from the 1980 delivery to Alexander (Midland) still in the Midland service and it was of the few to receive full KCB red and cream livery.
LMS 155W became KCB 1695 and is seen in Coatbridge town centre at work on the through service from Kirkwood in Coatbridge to Petersburn in Airdrie.

The completed railcar had three coaches articulated on shared bogies. The two outer coaches are identical with 3rd class accommodation while the centre coach contained a first class compartment. All three coaches were equipped with a toilet and a power operated door on each side.
The original railcar was powered by six 125hp Leyland diesel engines, two per car, each driving one axle. Weighing just 74 tons, the railcar was intended to run at 75mph but actually achieved 82mph on a test run.
'Jinty' 0-6-0 tank 7298 (BR 42798) taking a service from Llangollen up the Dee Valley in early November 1993.
I think the locomotive must have been a guest at Llangollen as it is documented as being owned by East Lancs Railway at the time. It was owned by the Llangollen Railway in the 80s when it was painted blue and answered to 'Thomas'.

Looks to me like an LNWR 'Prince of Wales' class in LMS days. Perhaps on part of the WCML where the slow lines ran outside the fast lines? Or just photographed in the middle of passing loops. The photo has caught the driver nicely. Presumably taken in the 1920s. The glass negative had a few flaws, notably the centre of the boiler has been reconstructed in photoshop. Motion blurring on the front end of the loco has been reduced. I’d be grateful for any help with the likely consist behind the front two coaches.
X22418 drives through Helena, AL with CSXT 7929 up front. Built as LMS 711 in October 1994, this veteran CW40-8, still sporting marker lights and all, has somehow evaded storage this long.
Another piece of rolling stock for the collection, love working around the sides of brake vans. SNOT work is the best!
