Raw developed in DxO PhotoLab 5, cleaned up in Topaz Sharpen, colour graded in Color Efex Pro 5 and finished off back in PhotoLab
Obviously, it's not a sea monster surfacing from the ocean. But the big storm in La Jolla produced high surfs that created interesting photographic sceneries like this. This is actually my second time on this spot. The first one was before the storm.
Pre-sunset action seen from Leviathan Peak in Alpine County. Lightning behind me and coming my way, smallish wildfire behind a ridge to the right of the frame, light rain about to get worse. I pitched my tent, ate a cold dinner in the car, put in some earplugs, and awoke to a glorious morning where I fulfilled a goal that I've been striving for for 7 years. That shot will be up next.

Another view of this heritage listed item of mining technology located in Morwell, Victoria, Australia.
This colossus is one of Germany’s biggest industrial monuments. In the past, several thousand workers were drudging here under the most severe conditions day after day. In this former steel mill, all the production stages, from processing ore to the final goods, were realized in the tightest of spaces. After 15 years of being decommissioned, the monstrous industrial park was still appearing in working order. But when we were daring to enter the belly of the beast, we realized that the old plant is only a ruin. Pipes and steel beams, thick like tree trunks, are the skeleton of the leviathan but have been gnawed on by rust.

This time something from fantasy Warhammer, not the 40k.
I saw trailer of "Curse of the Vampire Coast" ("Total War: Warhammer II" expansion pack) last summer and already knew I have to build this ugly guy.
Took me a while to get parts (bought those ship elements last month) but it's finally here - it was such a fun thing to build and I still have some ideas of pirate-monster theme soooo maybe, maybe. ;)

Beneath a bruised and boiling sky, the ISV Leviathan cuts through the surge like a blade of judgment. Each wave it breaks is taller than a building; each bolt of violet lightning above carves fractures into the atmosphere of an oceanic world no human was ever meant to chart.
Designed for abyssal incursions on planetary bodies classified as Anomalous-Class Hydrospheres, the Leviathan is more than a vessel — it is a fortress. Its hull is carved from neutron-forged alloy and lined with harmonic shielding to withstand both gravitational pressure and electromagnetic chaos.
Its mission: to descend beneath the black waves of Orthon-6, a drowned exoplanet long abandoned by its native species. But the sea here is not just water — it is memory, current, and malice.
Above, the storm churns unnaturally, its lightning crawling like claws across impossible sky. Below, something ancient stirs. The Leviathan does not turn back.
Now you know why our hero and his two dragon cohorts were in such a hurry to clear the plain. A thundering winged horror descends out of the clouds screaming with murderous fury. Things look desperate for our friends...

I saw a friend with this avatar the other day, and was immediately transfixed and knew I needed one. The animations on it are ridiculously good, and pretty hypnotic lol. Seems very accurate to how a creature this size and type would move in the water. Bravo to the creator. Cranston Yordstorm was apparently also inspired to get this big ol' fishy for himself with the marlin mod, when he saw me in this one at NatureCon. A friend I showed it to was equally as entranced by the animations and overall impact of this lorge fishy friend. It's pretty dang impressive. And customizable via a bunch of modifiable bom layers that it comes with to change various parts of the fish.
I tried many sky & water settings for this one, and decided I like this funky radioactive green water best, as it suits the imposing vibe of this leviathan fishy. Also, you know, because waterways can be and are polluted as fuck and maybe we could all stand to be reminded of that. And then do something about it. Leviathan is a massive float with many riders on it, all throwing beads and toys to the crowd! Lots of fun to see it go by! Unfortunately, once it passed us and turned on St. Charles and hard moved down the route a little ways, it caught on fire! No riders or spectators were hurt, and it was hours later that we even learned of it!
We didn't go to Zulu or Rex today. This is our last parade of Mardi Gras 2023, so it's our last float of our season!
