IC 443 (also known as the faint and elusive Jellyfish Nebula Jellyfish Nebula and Sharpless 248 (Sh2-248)) is a Galactic supernova remnant (SNR) in the constellation Gemini. Flanked by two bright stars, Mu and Eta Geminorum. Its distance is roughly 5,000 light years from Earth. At that distance, this image would be about 300 light-years across.

A different perspective and my absolute favourite from my visit at Praia do Castelejo in the Algarve.

At this sight (especially of the shape of the rock) I feel transported to another time or even another world immediately. A world where giant sea monsters are crawling on land while the sun is drowning in the ocean. I have no idea, what they are doing there over night , I'm not a natural scientist.

Just open Youself to the photo one moment. Maybe it is coming to life, like it does for me. This would make me really happy.

In northern Norway, near the town of Vardø on the Barents Sea, rises an impressive work of art: the Drakkar Leviathan. This installation combines the shape of a dragon boat, the famous Viking ships, with the Leviathan, a mythological sea monster. It symbolizes the deep connection of Nordic culture to the sea and the forces of nature.

It was erected in the summer of 2016 by the Taibola Assemble team from Arkhangelsk/Severodvinsk and is made of massive wooden beams.

Leviathan of Parsonstown, or Rosse six-foot telescope, is a historic reflecting telescope of 72 in (1.83 m) aperture, which was the largest telescope in the world from 1845 until the construction of the 100-inch (2.5 m) Hooker Telescope in California in 1917. The Rosse six-foot telescope was built by William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse on his estate, Birr Castle, at Parsonstown

A dragon poem about mental health and the power of love. ❤

"In the silent chambers of my mind,

where shadows whisper, and fears unwind,

I tread the path of endless night,

seeking solace, a glimmer of light.

Amidst the chaos, a fragile heart,

beats with hope, though torn apart.

Whispers of doubt, a constant friend,

yet through this darkness, I ascend.

In the depths, where sorrow lies,

I hear the echoes of my cries.

Yet within these walls, a seed does grow,

a testament to all I've known.

Through trials faced and battles fought,

a lesson learned, a wisdom sought.

Each tear shed, a story told,

of strength unseen, of courage bold.

And as I rise from shadows deep,

a promise made, a vow to keep.

To cherish love, both given and received,

in its embrace, I am relieved.

For in the heart where love does reign,

it heals the wounds, it soothes the pain.

A beacon bright, a guiding star,

reminding me of who we are.

Together, we can face the night,

with love as armor, shining bright.

For in the end, through love's pure light,

we find our strength, our wings for flight.

So let us weave this tale anew,

of mental battles, we've fought through.

Triumphant hearts, with love's embrace,

together, in Evermore we find our sacred place."

Sometimes it takes luck to match a good picture with a poem and thanks for the Cica Ghost's art I did it. Such a beautiful place.

A huge severe-warned cell shows off some explosive convection as it drifts along the Front Range west of Loveland, CO.

Image Notes: To get an idea of how large the storm is, consider that this image is a five-frame pano. Each frame was shot vertically with the Samyang 14 mm, itself an incredibly wide lens. I processed each frame in DXO, corrected distortion/vignetting with PTLens (DXO lacks a profile for the Samy) and merged the frames in Photoshop to construct the pano.

This, my dear visitors, is already one of my favorite photos from this fall.

Now you might object that this is just an old gnarled (and possibly even dead) tree.

But not for me. For me, this giant is a symbol and a connection to all the books I have read and films I have ever seen that are about magic and mystical powers.

I see a giant octopus (which exists in some stories), a sea monster, one of Tolkien's Ents, the entrance to an enchanted forest and, last but not least, the whomping willow on the school grounds of a famous wizarding university.

Some of these images were already triggered in my head when I just drove past here.

The wonderfully thick fog certainly played its part here.

Anyway, I love this photo and I love getting lost in it. Definitely better than in the forest. Which I definitely have to go back to and which, by the way, is located in Bohemia just before the Zinnwald border crossing.

Oh well: In case anyone is wondering what a Leviathan is. IT is a cosmic sea monster from Jewish mythology. I saw a film with this title many years ago and it really impressed me at the time.

Leviathan is a cosmic sea monster from Jewish mythology. His description includes features of a crocodile, a dragon, a snake or a whale.

I always think of such a gigantic monster when I look at this photo I took in the Italian Alps in spring. I know I'm looking towards the Dolomites, but I can't say what that mountain range is called (as always, I'd be grateful if someone can fill this gap in my knowledge).

With its head hidden somewhere to the right behind the hills, all you can see is its carapace rising up towards the sky. So high that it is already covered in snow. And as I'm absorbed in the photo, I imagine what it would be like if this giant suddenly woke up and began to rise before my eyes.

Luckily, I can easily get stories like this out of my head when I move on to something else. Otherwise I would probably never be able to sleep peacefully again.
