The Gejia (Chinese: 家人 or 革家人; Hanyu pinyin: Géjiārén; also Gedou) is an ethnic group of Guizhou province, southwestern China. They are officially classified by the government as a part of the Miao, but have separate status in Guizhou. The Gejia live mainly in Qiandongnan Prefecture, in the counties of Huangping, Kaili, and Guanling. They are concentrated in the towns of Chong'an, Chong Xing, Huangpiao in Huangping and Longchang, Wanshui of Kaili. Matang is exclusively inhabited by these people. There are over 400 inhabitants in this village. The total Gejia population is approximately 50,000.

The major occupation among the Gejia people is farming. They practice slash-and-burn methods of cultivation, with rice, corn, and millet being their major crops. The women are typically focused on embroideries and batik. Their handicraft style dates back to the Qin dynasty (221–207 BCE), the first dynasty of a unified China and the group sells the items to visitors. The people are most noted for their batik products. Girls are taught the technique at a young age.

The dress code of the women has a cultural symbol, particularly signifying the warfare of their ancestors. The head dress is a representation of the Sun and the arrow, while the shoulders and back are covered with thick wools like shawls that represent shields. They cover their legs with leggings as leg guards and the clothes are made in white and red patterns, and decorated with silver ornaments. They practice animism, and make offerings to appease invisible spirits to prevent diseases, calamities and death, and to make a good harvest.

A major festival among the Gejia is Caiqing. It involves a dance called Caiqing Wu (Wu for "dance"), which is a dance of romance. It is held in the first lunar month. Gejia women wear colourful festival dresses, including batik scarves, silver necklaces, pleated skirts, aprons and leggings. There is also a lusheng festival (similar to that of Miao) held in November where the boys play a series of bamboo pipes called lusheng. They perform bird fight and antiphonal singing.

A WIP / scrapped project inspired by the Bionicle collab here on Flickr some time ago. The axe was originally a table scrap from my last years Bio-Cup build and had wanted to build a character to wield it since then. I realized mid-build that I only have one of each of those leg guards, so now it looks more like he wears different pair of boots he put on in a hurry in the morning...

As I sneak around the fenced-in flock, two huge sheep rose from the distance... I thought. But since when do sheep bark?...it flashed through my head. Only then did I regnozice the two Abruzzo sheepdogs that literally flew towards me with loud barking because they thought I was an intruder. I stepped back two meters but then stopped and talked to them. Only then did they calm down, but kept a watchful eye on me. When I took a step closer, they barked again. So I stuck to their given zone because it would be easy for her to jump the fence.

Abruzzo Shepherd Dogs are herding and driving dogs and the shepherd's right hand on four legs. Guarding animals and the farm is in his blood. They were just doing their job...smile

I bought this very cheaply as a non runner

stripped the engine and overhauled it with a new crank, new bearings and seals and a rebore, ran like a dream foolishly i chucked away the excellent leg guards

my brother had it but destroyed the new engine, by failing to keep the throttle open going down a big hill

I repaired it but sold it afterwards

Manufacturer: Deutsche Industriewerke AG, Berlin-Spandau - Germany

Type: R-0/6

Engine: 496cc single cilinder 4-stroke

Power: 12 bhp

Speed: 105 km/h

Production time: 1928 - 1929

Production outlet: 9,000

Curb weight: 170 kg

Special:

- The R-0/6 is a re-design of the R-0/5 by Oberingenieur Martin Stolle (ex-BMW en Victoria).

- The D-Rad models had previously nicknamed "Spandau Spring Bock", which wasn't the company doing well (lousy handling of the leaf suspension forks).

- It was Martin Stolles new job to search for a solution.

- It has a three speed manual gearbox and a twelve liter petrol tank (ca. 3.5 Liter / 100km).

- Electric lights, Corbin speedometer, leg guards, bulp horn, footboards and switch operation with switching threshold value were optional.

- D-Rad did well in Gross-Berlin: In 1928 every fifth wheel was a "D-wheel" although there were up to 100 motorcycle companies in Berlin!

- In 1932 D-Rad was taken over by NSU.

And then these assholes, with bonus unused marksman 'fig. Trying to make a decently futuristic-looking SWAT officer was hard, since the only third-party folks making armor with the word SWAT slapped on them was Brickforge, and it was on a more modern-looking torso armor. I tried to balance it out with vambraces, shoulder/leg guards, and painted visors from Billy. The shoulder/leg guards are cut up bits from helmet visors. The shoulder guards are horribly flimsy, though. Gonna have to learn how to use ProCreate soon. Also had ALOT more officers than you see here in this pic. Hey, PDs are huge.

Alfred Mynn (19 January 1807 – 1 November 1861) was an English first-class cricketer during the game's "Roundarm Era". He was a genuine all-rounder, being both an attacking right-handed batsman and a formidable right arm fast bowler. Cricket writer John Woodcock ranked him as the fourth greatest cricketer of all time. Simon Wilde wrote of him: "The speed at which Mynn bowled... and his life-size personality captured the imagination of the public in a way no cricketer had before."

Mynn was born at Twisden, near Goudhurst in Kent, the fourth son of a gentleman farmer. He was a hop farmer, and was married to Sarah, in 1828. They had many children, five of his daughters survived to adulthood and Sarah Mynn outlived her husband by twenty years.

He was a very large man by any standard, bearing comparison with W. G. Grace. He was well over six feet tall and weighed more than 21 stones (294 lbs). He was known as "the Lion of Kent" and it was for Kent that most of his greatest feats occurred, though he also played a substantial number of matches for Sussex, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) and the All-England Eleven (AEE). His brother, Walter Mynn, was also an early cricketer with the Kent team. Mynn's first-class career was from 1832 to 1859. He played in 213 first-class matches. As a batsman he had 395 innings. He scored 4,955 runs at a batting average of 13.42 runs per innings with a highest score of 125 not out. He made only one century, scored for South v North at Leicester in 1836. As a bowler he was fast with a round arm action. With his arm never getting above shoulder height he was obliged to bowl around the wicket.

Fred Gale in "Echoes from old Cricket Fields" (Simpkin and Marshall 1871), wrote

"I must see another man who stands six-foot two, of gigantic but symmetrical figure, standing up his full height, taking six stately steps to the wicket, and bringing his arm round well below the shoulder, and sending the ball down like a flash of lightning dead on the wicket, before I can ever believe there is or has been a greater cricketer than Alfred Mynn".

Mynn suffered an ankle injury before the famous 1836 match. He batted with a runner and was unable to bowl. Leg guards had not yet been invented and as he made his hundred in the second innings his legs were badly bruised by the Northern fast bowler Sam Redgate. Mynn's captain, Lord Frederick Beauclerk sent him back to London laid out on the top of a stagecoach.

Dr Bainbridge of St Martin's Lane and Surgeon Lawrence attended him at the Angel Tavern and debated whether his leg should be amputated. When told he would lose his leg at the hip, Mynn, a sincerely religious man, asked for a few minutes to say his prayers. In those minutes the doctors decided not to operate and instead had him sent to St Bartholomew's Hospital. After two years convalescence, he fully recovered.[5]

After this injury there is some evidence that Mynn wore padding on his game leg. There is no conclusive evidence that he invented leg guards as worn by modern cricketers although there was an anecdote about WG Grace being presented with a pair of Mynn's pads and using them in a match. This story dates from Fred Gale's book "The Game of Cricket" (1887), published many years after the end of Mynn's career.

Mynn's finances were never sound. He played as an amateur and a gentleman and risked social disgrace each time he accepted money for playing. He was imprisoned several times for debts owed to John Wyatt, a money lender, in 1845. He was made bankrupt in that year. Often he was saved from his creditors by wealthy patrons who wanted him free to play in a match they had an interest in. It is possible he had extensive medical bills to settle after the injury to his leg. The situation was eased in 1847, by the award of a testimonial match at Lord's between Kent and "England". Mynn was also an enthusiastic amateur actor, appearing for the Old Stagers during Canterbury Cricket Week. He took regular minor roles from 1847 until his death. He generally played strongmen such as Hercules. In 1853 the Kentish Gazette noted his appearance as "The Grand German Water Drinker" when he imbibed "no less than 12 tumblers of water in as many half minutes."

He died suddenly at his brother Walter's house at 22 Merrick Square, Newington near Southwark, London. The cause of death was diabetes. As a member of the Leeds and Hollingbourne Volunteers, a rifle corps which was a forerunner of the Territorial Army, he was entitled to a military funeral. He is buried in Thurnham churchyard next to two of his daughters.

Legacy

The village sign of Mynn at Bearsted

William Jeffrey Prowse wrote what was to become one of the most famous pieces of cricket poetry in his memory. The first six stanzas compare Mynn with his contemporaries. The poem closes with these lines:

With his tall and stately presence, with his nobly moulded form,

His broad hand was ever open, his brave heart was ever warm;

All were proud of him, all loved him. As the changing seasons pass,

As our champion lies a-sleeping underneath the Kentish grass,

Proudly, sadly will we name him – to forget him were a sin.

Lightly lie the turf upon thee, kind and manly Alfred Mynn!

Mynn is commemorated in Bearsted Kent, where the house in which he lived, Mount Pleasant, can be found. The village sign is a depiction of him, and the local pub, The Lion of Kent, is named after him.

He is a fictional character in the historical novel Flashman's Lady. The main character Harry Flashman plays cricket with him several times.

Come ti appellavano? Ti chiamavano dottore.

Quasi simultaneamente.

Yosif “Witcher” Sawartski

"Raised by his huntsman father, Yosif had made a name for himself in the metro as being a skilled stalker and professional mutant exterminator. As the major factions within the metro began to arise, he had served as a soldier for Polis and what would later become the Spartan Order. However, due to ideological differences, he soon went his separate way to became an independent. He most commonly operates in the unexplored southern metro tunnels, surveying abandoned stations with the hope of reestablishing new settlements in the future."

Nonna Agapova

"With her grandfather having served in the Moscow Fire Brigade and her father having been a rescue worker for the Ministry of Emergency Affairs, it might have been conceived that Nonna would have followed in their footsteps. However; as was the case with many children following the Great War, such childhood dreams would remain just that. Regardless, Nonna still wished to live up to their name; doing whatever she could to support her home station. More often than not this meant working as a "tunnel rat" and salvaging any raw materials from the tunnels that could benefit the main settlements. After being saved by Yosif, the stalker then took Nonna under his wing to train her as a protege."

_____________________________________________

I'd mentioned these figures back in July, and finally I got my paints (mostly) cooperating again so I was able to finish painting their weapons.

These are just two of a small line of of Metro figures I have in the works. Possibly I might make a little series around it, I already have ideas in mind.

They're mostly based off the figures from a scene I'd made about two years ago:

www.flickr.com/photos/immediate_lego/27675496464/in/album...

The stalker I went for more of a beast-slayer theme to it; having a gladiator/bite-suit arm sleeve, improvised leg guard, fur pelt, heavy machine gun, as well as a few signs of past brawls with mutants. After struggling to come up with a better nickname, I decided that "Witcher" (from the Witcher series) was the best description of what the character's role is.

The protege I've been sticking with an emergency worker theme; wearing a general issue EMERCOM beret, a firefighter coat, and an emergency variant of VSR 3-TsV camouflage (how accurate that would actually be to EMERCOM workers I still have yet to figure out). I would've given her a PPM gas mask to go all out, but I can't begin to think of how to make one, so the current is just a place holder. Also debating over giving her a rain poncho or something of the sort.

The weapons I'll go into detail in a separate post.

Mommy long legs guarding her eggs.

This is the common spider at homes.

My challenge was using my smartphone with a cheap click on macro to get as sharp as I can.

A 2016 Shadow is now mind and at a good price too. Having a windshield, leg guards and fog light ordered for it.

I walk into room 11, on the 3rd floor of the Iceberg Lounge, a trail of unconscious or dead guards behind me. It wasn’t hard to find Roman’s room, the first guard I found told me. I walk into the blue walled room, everything seems to be where it should be, even the bed is neatly made. I scan the room and no one seems to be around, but then I notice smoke coming from the balcony of the room. I quietly walk towards the sliding doors and there sits a bald man in a beige suit. He holds a cigar in his hand, which he sets on the glass table beside him.

“So you finally made it, I honestly expected you sooner.” Roman says, still looking out at the harbor and the city behind it.

“Expected me?” I say.

“Oh yes, I told my men to tell you where I was and to let you beat them. You made quite a racket at the docks. You dress like you want to be some type of ninja assassin, but the way you fight makes me think you’re a nobody crook.”

“I’m not a crook, but you are, I’ve been hunting you for a while Roman, you’re not an easy man to find.”

“Don’t play the big talk on me, I’ve seen a lot of people just like you, but let me tell you one thing, your type either works for me or ends up dead. So leave while you have the opportunity.”

“I have one question for you.”

“What’s that?”

“What do you have to do with the death of Amadeus Arkham?”

“Arkham? That’s a tree I wouldn’t go barking up. There are worse people than me involved and I’d rather not see them again.”

“Like who?”

“Look, you don’t want to know, there’s a whole court of guys who control these things. They want people dead for different reasons, I did a job for them once but it wasn’t Arkham.”

“You’re lying.” I say as I pop out my wrist blades.

Roman turns around revealing his face, he has an almost silver beard and a gold eyepatch covering his left eye. I try to ram him over the balcony but he manages to jump over me, proving that he’s been trained. As he leaps over me and puts his hands on my back, pushing me to the ground. As I get up I turn to Roman and yell in anger, my adrenalin rises and I charge at him. I run at him but he quickly doges to the side, pulls a knife from my belt and cuts me across the arm. He’s a lot quicker than I imagined, and that just makes me angrier.

“You’re sloppy, you let your emotions take over, but don’t cry, it’s a rookie mistake, one a child would make.” He taunts.

I cover the cut with my hand and try to think of what to do next, Roman could be my only lead on Amadeus’ death. But before I can finish the thought Roman throws the knife into my shoulder. I scream in pain and he grabs a chair, lifts it up then bashes it over my head. Splinters of wood fly throughout the room and I fall backwards.

“I told you not to bark up this tree but you keep doing it, I’m honestly doing you a favor kid, because if they get to you you’re toast.”

He pulls the knife out of my shoulder and brings it to my neck, then he pulls off my hood and mask. He pushes the knife closer and closer to my neck, I try to push him off but it’s no use. I look to my sides and try to find something, I spot a chunk of wood that’s just out of reach, but I have no way of getting Roman off me. If I try to head butt him the knife will cut my neck and he’s got my arms pinned. I then realize my feet are free enough that I may be able to do something, so I kick his foot away and kick him right in the crotch. I get up and grab the knife out of his hand.

“It’s okay, it was a rookie mistake.” I say as I throw the knife behind me.

I grab him by the collar and pull him up to me and push my wrist blade write into his gut. I then pull the blade out and drop him to the ground. Then as I’m about to finish him off a bullet flies through the door and hits me in the leg. Guards storm into the room, all fully armed, I grab my hood and mask and run out onto the balcony. I vault over the cold metal bar of the balcony and out into the harbor, bullets fly past my head as I fall into the cold harbor, barely escaping.

Japanese armour, known as "Yoroi," was made up of a combination of plates and scales that were laced together with silk cords. It often included a helmet with a face guard, shoulder protectors, chest and back plates, and arm and leg guards for full protection in battle.

Bronze (copper alloy) figure of Mars, enlivened with silver inlay. Wearing the armor of a general - an elaborate helmet, sheet metal leg guards (greaves) decorated with thunderbolts, and an embossed chest plate (cuirass) molded to the form of the body. He would originally have held a spear in his right hand, now missing, and probably a shield in his left (also missing).

Accomplished casting, this is the finest bronze figurine of Mars from Roman Britain.

2016 Shadow for a good price and waiting for wind shield, leg guards and fog lights. I have another one which is a 350cc Piaggio I'm keeping plus I have bout 64,000 to 65,000 miles on 2 different scooters.

A Robot/Drone I put together a week ago. I had to upload him, becourse he allways falls apart.

I first build him for marchikoma, but he looked extremely stupid with arms, so...

Danse: sure you don't want to put on some armor? those Institute lasers would cut right through you

Lizzy: I'll be fine!

Danse: I know you're fast, but I've seen heavily armored soldiers die in a synth swarm

Lizzy: you're in for a surprise, then!

Danse: well I'm not burying your corpse

Lizzy: did anyone ever tell you, you have a great personality?

Danse: no

Lizzy: there's a reason they don't

Also in the lot of six dolls/figurines were these series 1 jewel power dolls of Tamera & Fallon. Tamara lost an arm in battle before reaching me, as well as her other armband & leg guard. Her skirt was also stretched out so I had to double it up an shimmy it back on her waist. Fallon, meanwhile, only misses her second armband and comb shield. Her necklace came with her but she looks prettier without it. In addition, Fallon's mask broke on the right side and I had to put a rubber band to get it to stay on well but she's otherwise fine. Amusingly, she's errored and has a sunstone in her belt instead of her own moonstone

Tamara was the animal lover & maternal one of the trio while Fallon was the largely capable tomboyish character, usually found with the wolf pack. I liked that despite Gwen unfairly being the leader (nepotism at it's finest) both of her teammates were FAR more capable as jewel riders as it made the trio all the more interesting as a team.

Marble altar-stele with a representation of a gladiator (secutor?) in relief. The gladiator is standing on a base, advancing to the left. He wears body armor, leg guards, and a helmet with a crest; In his left hand he has a long shield, and in his right hand a short sword.

The gladiator is named by inscription Εὐρώτας. His name is inspired by the homonymous river near Sparta, which allodes to the military qualities of the Spartans

This kind of two altar-stele belong to a large group of similar monuments found at Aphrodisias. According to some scholars, such stelae are not funerary monuments, but reliefs that were assembled around an inscription of a familia of gladiators commemorating its individual members. Since none of these monuments has been found in situ, but outside of the citywWall, where they were probably used as spolia. This stele was found built into the west City Wall, in which many funerary monuments have been used as spolia. A funerary context should not be excluded

A pikeman's helmet, breastplate, and hips/upper leg guards from about 1620 or 1630. Made of steel with brass rivets.

The helmet is likely from Flanders or Holland, and the rest of the armor is probably from Greenwich, England. European pikemen, no matter the nation, all dressed alike.

Missing is the backplate and the buff coat.

The buff coat was made of thick cowhide treated with cod oil to provide suppleness. The seams were butt joints, the interior was lined with rough linen, and the closures included laces, buttons, loops, clasps, or hook-and-eyelet. Removable sleeves were common. All buff coats had skirts attached, which protected the upper legs.

The Wilson Sporting Goods Company is an American sports equipment manufacturer based in Chicago, Illinois. Wilson makes equipment for many sports, among them baseball, badminton, American football, basketball, fastpitch softball, golf, racquetball, soccer, squash, tennis, pickleball and volleyball.

The company owns the brands Atec, DeMarini, EvoShield, Louisville Slugger, and Luxilon to provide sports equipment and protective gear for baseball, lacrosse, softball, and tennis. The company has been a subsidiary of Finnish retailer Amer Sports since 1989.

The company traces its roots to the "Schwarzschild & Sulzberger" meatpacking company (later changed to "Sulzberger & Son's") based in New York, that operated meat packing slaughterhouses.

Sulzberger & Son's founded the "Ashland Manufacturing Company" in 1913 to use animal by-products from its slaughterhouses. It started out in 1914, making tennis racket strings, violin strings, and surgical sutures, but soon expanded into baseball shoes and tennis racquets.

In 1915, Thomas E. Wilson, former president of meatpacker Morris & Company, was appointed president by the controlling banks and renamed the company "Thomas E. Wilson Company". The company acquired the Hetzinger Knitting Mills to produce athletic uniforms and a caddie bag company which produced golf balls but soon expanded into footballs and basketballs.

In 1918, Wilson left to concentrate on the beef-packing business, changing the Sulzberger company to Wilson & Co. (which would ultimately become Iowa Beef Packers and then be taken over by Tyson Foods). The packing company continued to have control in the company until 1967 when it was sold to Ling-Temco-Vought.

Under new president Lawrence Blaine Icely, it acquired the "Chicago Sporting Goods Company" and struck a deal to supply the Chicago Cubs. It also hired Arch Turner, a leather designer who would design the leather football.

In 1922, it introduced the Ray Schalk catcher's mitt which later became the standard. It worked with Knute Rockne to introduce the double-lined leather football and first valve football and the first waist-line football pants with pads.[1] In 1925, it was renamed "Wilson-Western Sporting Goods" following a distribution agreement with "Western Sporting Goods".

After Rockne's death, the company focused on golf, introducing the R-90, a sand wedge golf club inspired by Gene Sarazen's victory in the 1932 British Open.

In 1931, it renamed itself "Wilson Sporting Goods Company". During World War II it introduced the Wilson Duke football, featuring high-quality leather, ends that were hand-sewn, lock-stitch seams, and triple lining, which was adopted as the official ball of the National Football League in 1941; this partnership between Wilson and NFL has continued since.

Horween Leather Company has supplied Wilson with pebbled cowhide since 1941 for use in the manufacture of footballs and basketballs. Wilson is Horween Leather Company's largest customer.

Wilson became the official game ball supplier of the newly-formed Basketball Association of America (BAA; the forerunner league of what would eventually become today's NBA) in 1946, this partnership would last 37 years until 1983.

After World War II, Wilson focused on tennis and signed Jack Kramer, who developed its line of Jack Kramer signed tennis rackets. L. B. Icely died in 1950, but the company continued to expand. In 1955, it acquired Ohio-Kentucky Manufacturing for making footballs.

In 1964, Wilson acquired "Wonder Products Company", which made toys and custom-molded items. The company transformed the custom-mold section to make protective equipment for American football and baseball, such as face masks for football helmets and leg guards for baseball catchers.

In 1967, the company was acquired by Ling-Temco-Vought. Only three years later, PepsiCo became Wilson's new owner. In those days, the company manufactured and commercialized the official balls of both the NBA and NFL, and provided most of the uniforms of teams in Major League Baseball (MLB) and the United States Summer Olympics teams.

In 1979, Wilson tennis balls were first used in the US Open, and still are used to this day. In 2006, the Australian Open began using Wilson tennis balls.[11] In 1985, Wilson was acquired by Westray Capital Corporation, through subsidiary WSGC Holdings. In 1989, WSGC merged with Bogey Acquisitions Company, which is affiliated with the Finnish group Amer Sports.

In May 2020, it was announced that Wilson became the NBA and WNBA's official game ball supplier, starting with the 2021 season; Wilson replaced Spalding, after the latter company's 37-year partnership with the league ended, thus returning Wilson as the game ball supplier to the NBA.

it took me a while, but I finally got around to cracking open this beauty - presenting the Tamashii Nations Saint Seiya: Andromeda Shun God Cloth - 10th Anniversary Edition figure set, which I picked up at a Flea Market for $60 CAD.

If you were around during the early 2000s, you may remember a little toy line from Bandai called Knights of the Zodiac. Much like Ultimate Muscle, Knights of the Zodiac was based on an incredibly popular Japanese property - in this case, it was known as Saint Seiya, which had been around since the mid 80s. The series revolves around the chosen warriors of the Goddess Athena, who are gifted with armour sets, or "cloths" that draw their power from various constellations. I have yet to actually watch anything from this series, Japanese or American, but I do remember watching a bit of the first American episode and noting that they censored the living crap out of it. Other than that, the only other exposure I had to the series was occasionally I'd see pictures as a kid of the one they call Dragon Shiryu, who had some admitted badass looking gear. I think the number of suits in the series could probably give MCU Iron Man a run for his money.

The main gimmick of each figure was that you'd have a generic core figure (with the head generally being the only difference), and you could gear up each figure with chromed armour pieces. The Bandai of America releases were very much based on the sets I'd seen while clomping around Market Village and Pacific Mall in Markham, as the series popularity over in Asia made it a no brainer for local import toy stores to bring it relatively cheap figures from Hong Kong and sell them here. But this was 2004 - I had already graduated from University and was working full time, well on my way to becoming a toy snob. Furthermore, it was Bandai of America.. you just knew that they'd cheap out on something just to make a buck.

So, as you can imagine with no time actually watch the series, and effectively nobody ever talking about it locally, I basically had no real reason to keep up with the property. Little did I know Saint Seiya was an ongoing thing - it never did die overseas. So much so that Bandai of Japan actually went ahead and had Tamashii Nations further refine the figure line eventually resulting in the Myth Cloth Revival line, where all the original character were rereleased as new action figures, having core bodies that weren't quite Figuarts good, but were much improved over the original toys by at the very least allowing for figures with the proper body proportions and vastly improved articulation.

Andromeda Shun, as the name implies, is a character named Shun who wields the cloth of Andromeda. According to my research, Shun is generally hesitant to use violence as a solution to matters, but when he does all sorts of wonderful things happen. Considered the strongest amongst the core five saints (known as the Bronze Saints). His character has some other deep dark secrets that I'm not going to touch on, but overall, I'm told he's one of the most popular characters in the series. The God Cloth in the title indicates that this is the most powerful form of the named Cloth, in this case the Andromeda cloth. The original appears to have been released in 2009 (this was a 2014 figure), with improvements being more accurate colouring, and the addition of an alternate shocked expression face to recreate a key scene.

With the background out of the way, lets move on the actual overview.

First off, lets talk contents. This set MSRPed for 8,250 yen back in 2014, and even if you added inflation to the price there is no way in you'd get anything even CLOSE to what you get in this box for the price. You get the core body, two expressions (neutral, shocked), two front hair pieces (one for mounting the headgear), parts to the armour (all of which is die cast metal with the exception of the collar piece, wings, headgear, along with the chest and waist cover, and the pieces on the sides of the hands), two additional bracers with metal chains (main weapons), a formed plastic chain (Thunder Wave attack effect), 3 pairs of hands specifically for use with the armour (closed fists, chain gripping fists, posing hands), and the parts to turn the armour into an Object (think really ornate armour stand, which in the case of Andromeda is a kneeling figure) including some really intricate curved chains.

The armour itself consists of :

Headgear

Collar piece

Inner upper and lower torso frame

Chest piece

Waist piece

Pauldrons

Bicep guards

Forearm guards

Hip guards (both sides)

Thigh guards

Knee guards

Lower leg guards

Wings

As the photos show if it isn't on the core figure, it's either chromed plastic or it's coloured die cast metal parts. There's not a dull/unfinished piece on this gear whatsoever.

The main figure is larger than a modern day Figuarts - yes Nat is technically slightly smaller than the average male Figuarts, but its nothing that would change this statement. Very anorexic looking, which allowed for the equipping of less bulky looking accessories. The actual mobility isn't bad, as you get toe, ankles, double jointed knees, hips with thigh swivel, limited mobility waist and mid torso, shoulders with chest collapse, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, wrists, limited neck motion, and head articulation. The figure is also equipped with die cast clown shoes to improve balance both with and without the gear on. With the exception of the waist and torso, range of motion isn't too bad, and is definitely on par with the better offerings of 2009. Articulation of the various body parts is generally not further limited even after you equip the armour, with the sole exception being the upper body, which goes from limited movement to no movement due to the body armour harness effectively having no points of articulation whatsoever.

Equipping the armour is an incredibly painstaking activity, so much so that it took me almost 30 minutes the first time to put things on, mostly due to fear of scratching the finished surfaces. Even after realizing I had one of the leg armour pieces on backwards in my pictures, I decided that it's too much effort to put it back for a reshoot. You see, unlike the original Deluxe figures where you'd just clip on chromed plastic armour around the various limbs, this figure requires the removal of hands and legs to get the limb armour on. But, as much of a pain it is getting the parts on just right, and the limited range of motion overall, the finished product looks stunning, especially if you've got some bright lights on the figure. It's not quite Hot Toys die cast Iron Man, but it's pretty damn impressive nonetheless. As stated earlier, arms, legs, and head are generally unhindered even with the armour on.. that is to say it doesn't make it any worse. The pauldrons and hip guards have ball joints on the mounting parts to allow for more range of motion as to improve posing opportunities.

From an actual paint perspective, I honestly don't think there's much of it on the figure. There's the plastic hair, the hair, and the fleshtones. Everything else is pretty much chrome plating which looks glorious. There are some imperfections in the finish here and there, but those are rare to find. Overall, this is a one sharp looking figure. The chromed plastic parts blend in quite well due to excellent colour matching.

Build quality is picture perfect where it matters - the armour. Much like with the Hot Toys Iron Man line, the use of metal has allowed for thinner parts, which reduces the overall bulk of the figure, as well as permits for that fantastic metallic finish. Despite the general non linearity of the parts, everything fits together perfectly, which is saying a lot given how much assembly there is on this figure, and is a testament to the impressive QC that went into the manufacture of the armour parts, including the parts for Object. On the main figure, the only rough spot I could see was the finish on the waist section of the core figure wasn't great at all, but fortunately that section was effectively on the undercarriage, so it's not something that you'd normally notice. Based on my experience, joints will hold your desired pose, even with the additional weight of the die cast metal parts.

A few gripes before we adjourn. First off, by far the most annoying thing to do with this figure is to assemble Object mode. Not only do you need to keep track of the left and right parts (put on wrong the figure won't sit right), but putting the chains together is a major pain due to the small size of the connectors (both to the body and to each other) which is further exasperated by the fact if the forearms aren't lined up correctly you're going to have a hell of a time trying to actually get it right. If they (Tamashii Nations) designed the shoulders of the Object such that they would only point in one directly, why couldn't they do that with the forearms?

The second major issue I have goes back the usual gripe I have with Figuarts figures - the lack of a stand. While normally just annoying, the lack of a stand makes this figure a bit of a gamble to pose. You see, despite the giant metal clown feet, the figure can still fall over, especially when it's weighed down with all the armour pieces. Scratches is one thing, but my biggest fear is that it falls over backward, and either due to long exposure warps the plastic wings, or if you're really unlucky, falls over with a force that ends up snapping the wings. Neither of which are particularly attractive or desired, so until I can figure things out I'm leaving the Shun unarmoured.

Phew.. so there you have it. A long write up, but well worth it for a truly extraordinary action figure both from an aesthetic perspective as well as overall production values, a combination of which isn't really a thing these days unless you go one sixth scale or higher. I suspect "finishing the line", especially with my cheapness, is probably not something that is going to ever happen, but to be honest I say that about a lot of things. I guess at least I know what to look for, which is a good start.

With that said, it's off the next review, which I'm gonna flip a coin to decide on, but will be guaranteed to be less metal.

Original design by Soren Roberts. This Scrambler has modified legs for modern appearance. Equipped with Sting Beam Laser, Dual Leg Guards, and Quad-leg mobility.
