GIANT WASP, THE HIVE TERROR.
Happy #monstermonday folks!! This one is a familiar build I'm sure to some of you, as I gave a lil sneak peek of it a couple weeks ago. This was the encounter from the fourth Montown Mob quest post in which Marybeth the Kenku Barbarian went into cave at the behest of an herbalist, and fought a remarkably large insect!
Getting the shaping of the abdomen to curve was pretty fun, though the wings were a bit tricky. Originally, I thought about using the translucent wing pieces from a Hero Factory set, but they ended up wayyy put of scale, so I settled on these for the long, sharp-looking wings that yellowjackets have! What do you think? Did this build make you shudder at the thought of a wasp this big in real life?
This is my first custom modular designed building after the Cafe Corner style. Features highlight a spiral staircase, upper balcony, and many texture ideas. The lower floor is the candy shop and the upper floors are designed for lodging. Unfortunately I have not finished the interior to this model yet.

In Stephen Kings iconic novel series, the Dark Tower stands in the middle of all creation and serves as a nexus of all worlds. I built this vor the renewed "Marchitecture" Contest for the "Fictional Architecture" category
This MOC was inspired by the scene from chapter 3 season 1 of The Mandalorian TV show where Mandalorian survivors confront the bounty hunters guild to help Din Djarin escape with Baby Yoda (or The Child) from Nevarro City. It's the first time I ever tried third-party LED lights in a MOC and I think it turned out really well. I'm happy with all the details, especially the big arch/gate and the rockwork, but unfortunately I ran out of some crucial pieces and wasn't able to make the whole MOC as detailed as I wanted. However, it still looks pretty decent I think.
Imperial forces launch a ground offensive against Neo Separatist troops on Anuri. Supported by a AT-AT l Imperial forces charge the Separatists and their New Republic allies head on, hoping to destroy the Separatist forward command post and prevent them from calling in much needed reinforcements. In a valiant attempt to stop the charging walker, separatist jet troopers swarm the lumbering machine in the hopes to highjack it.

I was invited to display my model of the David Stott Building at Cityscape Detroit's annual meeting. Mall developer Alfred Taubman was the guest speaker at the meeting.
THE GREATER GRELL, BEAKED ABERRATION.
Happy #monstermonday everyone!! Today we visit a D&D creature that is as delightfully weird as it is frighteningly intriguing. The design of this creature is... a brain-resembling body with a beak, and several barbed tentacles. It doesn't get much more aberrant than that. While they appear to be senseless creatures, they actually have incredible hearing and a sort of sense that goes beyond what humanoids are capable of. Everything about grell is fascinating, strange, and—well, GRELL.
I was inspired to revisit this odd little creature when I saw the amazing grell builds by @asortaokaybuilder over on Instagram a little bit ago, so if you haven't seen those yet, I encourage you to check them out! I had initially made these creatures for a dungeon encounter yeeeeears ago, but didn't love the way I executed their design, so I decided to redo one. Additionally, as you may well already know about me, I like to take liberties with creatures' size categories, and make them larger than normal to both add more detail, and dial up the fearsome factor a bit! Therefore, I give you the Greater Grell, a grell who has lived and fed a significantly longer time than most grell, and is thus far more powerful. Enjoy!

Beginning stages of the construction of a LEGO model of the Ford Building, 615 Griswold, Detroit, Michigan. This shows progress after two days of work (these are not 8 hour days by any means). The first day I just put together the base plates and the first layer of bricks.
It may not look like much now, but hopefully it will reach the full 19 story height when I am done. The base measures 75 x 59 studs.
This building will the the fourth of five buildings I had planned to build in order to recreate an entire city block - the Penobscot Block. Due to the uncertain economy, I decided to defer the more expensive Penobscot Annex until later. The Ford Building will be relatively inexpensive since I already had a lot of white bricks. The Penobscot Annex will require light gray which is more expensive.

COLOSSAL RAT, BLIGHT OF THE CELLAR.
Happy #monstermonday folks! This one is a creature featured in one of my recent Montown Mob stories in which Borgoop the Plasmoid Monk descends into an inn's cellar to defeat a ton of giant rats. This is the biggest one. He's a little derpy, but has a whole lot of charm! Hope y'all enjoy!
Giant Rats are known for gathering in unsanitary places, and carrying diseases, much like their smaller counterparts. They do, however, pose a much greater threat to any foes, as they're far more aggressive, and have a thicker hide and nastier bite, owed to their size. The Colossal Rat, then, is the last type of vermin one would want to run into. It's staggeringly large size and mass make it a force to be reckoned with, and a pest better left to a professional to take care of.
This is my second custom LEGO modular building which I call "City Post & Library." I built it to look somewhat like an older post office building, but since it has two floors I put a library in the top level. This time around I managed to finish and furnish the interior and an pleased with the results.

I finally received a bricklink order that I needed to finish the third story cornice.
Making its first appearance in Fallout 2 as the player characters mode of transportation and its second appearance as an easter egg in Fallout New Vegas, the Chryslus Highwayman became an iconic part of the fallout franchise.
Seeing as both versions of the car, one 2D- one 3D, have quite a few differences between them, building this model was rather interesting, since it wasn't about making a one to one copy, but instead more about trying to combine all of the styles and designs together into one cohesive design.

“All these big fancy type folk try be telling us all sort of nonsense. Go to school, study hard. Get a job, make good money. Get an apartment, have a happy family….. Blah blah blah, it’s all a bunch of useless garble. All ye really need is errything I got right here! Me trusty floor on some fanciful, free haggled floats, a nice stove for all my food needs. Oh’er I almost forgot! The most comfortable mattress I err’ did find, call it ye ole faithful. She never lets me down, nor complains. All that plus an AC unit and some solar. What more could a humble guy want? Fancy towers…pshh this right here the life.”
Local homeless floater boasts that raft life is the best life in New Hashima’s seas. Claims of “avoid rent, by floating!” have been shouted at by local bypassers on the streets.Others think he’s just crazy, asking “where will you be when the city sinks?” Whatever it is, he’s never been seen off his raft. He’s even floated so much that he’s become a staple of the community! If you can even call his disheveled heap that.

If I’m going to keep rebuilding this thing, I may as well try to do some things differently. I’m hyper fixated on chassis detail and boiler proportions. Trying to use different snot techniques to create ‘lip’ for the smoke box and fire box to show the separated sections. I’ve also tried to utilize some different techniques in the cab to accommodate opening firebox doors and allow movement in the levers and valves.
Idk if I’ll ever be happy with this MOC, but until another engine captures my desire like this auto tank or the terrier before it, I’m just going to keep fiddling I guess lol

PUTKIN PRESENTS: AXE OF THE VALKYRIE.
"Folks, we've finally come back around to the best type of weapon: the axe. This here is called the Axe of the Valkyrie, and its story is ALL myth. Legend says that long ago, when the dwarves hadn't yet formed the region of Gotram, they were at war with an enemy from underneath. They faced a race of giants renowned for their hideousness: the fomorians. These twisted, horrendous giants plagued the dwarves every time they dug too deep into the earth. Mining for iron? Fomorian colony. Hollowing out a mountain to establish a city? Fomorian colony. Just tried to dig a well for a small village in the middle of nowhere? You guessed it: fomorian colony. They popped up like the lesions they were covered in, and laid waste to the dwarves that encountered them.
"In their feud with the giant adversaries that dwelled in the Underdark, the dwarves made a number of special weapons, ruthless in nature and especially effective against giants. They had started to turn the tide of their war against the fomorians, and those outcast giants knew it. They had gathered their forces from all over the region, and planned to attack the dwarves' main civilization, the now-destroyed city of Skaargot. But one dwarven priest claimed to have a vision from the angels above, that said they would arrive in the dwarves' hour of need. According to the legend, the fomorians did, in fact, attack their city. It was a completely unwinnable battle, until the vision came true: from the heavens descended a force of fighting dwarves that seemed to float with the grace of clouds, though their blows landed like mighty thunder upon the giants. When the battle was won, any remaining fomorians had fled back underground, and never again showed their ugly mugs. The Cloud Dwarves, as the legend tells, bestowed upon the surface-dwellers a weapon that would smite down the giants with ease, should they ever rise again: The Axe of the Valkyrie.
"So, what'd you think? Sounds like malarkey, doesn't it? Everybody knows there's no such thing as Cloud Dwarves, and I think we'd have heard about it if fomorians really dwelled in the Underdark. Still, it makes for a compelling story!"
