The XL-15 enters the LEGO City!

This set wouldn’t have been on my radar if it wasn’t for the buzz about the Lightyear film’s director being AFOL Angus MacLane (check out his builds on Flickr!).

Evidently, he pushed for the in-film design to have a yellow transparent canopy, reminiscent of the Classic Space elements.

He also had an interesting spot on LEGOCon, worth a check out.

The build of this one and a cat seater spaceship is substantial! As a medium sized ship it checks most boxes for me: fits all accessories, swoosh-ability is there, has mobile base in form of laptop (stretch), and droid in the Catbot (also stretch). No escape pod/rover, which loses some points when compared to the medium builds of my ‘90s childhood.

But the elements and connections this set brings to the table blow anything from my childhood away. There are a few elements that are super obscure.

Color scheme for the spaceship is great, can’t miss with light blue, white, and black with that yellow canopy.

Also bonus points for extra head/hair elements for minifigs.

Less stellar for me were the minifigs. Buzz looks pretty good, but I’d prefer the dome over a normal helmet (I’m sure that’s a movie plot detail). The other figs have nice printing, but are pretty mute brown, like something out of a Star Wars set.

The shoulder pauldrons for all of them are cumbersome to range of motion.

The rocket launcher build doesn’t really work out to be held, but I do appreciate the built up weapon/scanning accessories.

Very nice set, strong suggest for the building experience and MOC possibilities!

I left off the red stripes off the wings. Does it look cleaner? Worse? Let me know

I’ll be looking at more contemporary LEGO sets that are bringing back Classic Space soon!

After delivering the cargo to the rebel base commander he is stranded on the planet as his ship was blown to bits by one of Darth Mor's Destroyers.

One day later he is invited by the Commander to his office:

- Cade comes into the Commander's office dressed in a blueish-grey outfit as his Guavian gear was left behind due to damage and to avoid being easily spotted by Darth Mor's Agents.

- Commander: Welcome Cade, Please have a seat. I would like to thank you again for the great job done by delivering to us the experimental fuel. This will save many lives, Cade, that fuel will help us design new engine types and build better Starfighters. We are now planning to take out the facility on Daro and considering you know the landscape very well I was thinking of asking for your help on leading an attack squadron of 10 X-Wings and 5 Y-Wings.

- Cade: Thank you Commander but I would not like to get involved further in your conflict, I'm planning on leaving as soon as I get my promised credits and maybe you can point me to a ship seller so I can look for a cheap ride out of here.

- Commander: Ah well, was worth a try. Sure Cade I will transfer the credits to you for the job well done and I'm sorry about your ship, the only way I can help you is to join me in the hangar and see what we got there.

- Cade agrees and they go over to the hangar where Cade can only see disappointment, Bounty was a part of him, that ship was on his side from the day he left the Guavians. Now looking ahead the Commander points to a strange small-looking ship.

- Commander: Cade this is the S10 Spirit and the only thing we could find about it is that it used to be a Jedi Starfighter. We found it in the hangar long ago, we were thinking it was abandoned here by its Jedi owner when the purge started. We used it to do scouting missions but not more than that. The ship handles superbly and it is hyperdrive capable. We did try to look into its back box to find the owner but it was all blocked, clearly the owner didn't want anyone to find him. Ah, and there is one small droid inside a BD series, we tried to check his data bank but it is locked as well. We left it all there as you never know, maybe the owner would return one day but it looks like not as the ship has been sitting here for a very long time.

Anyways, what do you say? - Cade: It will do, looking in your hanger it doesn't look like I got a better option.

- Commander: I will call in the engineers to get it ready for you. And Cade, our doors are always open to you. Don't forget about that offer.

- Cade: We will see Commander, what brings tomorrow.

- Soon after the Starfighter was ready to go and Cade went in to get ready for departure. He looked at that BD unit with suspicion but left it for another time. At the moment he needed to get away from the rebels and imperials. He took Spirit out for a spin and realized it was quite a formidable fighter.

As soon as he got off planet he was thinking where exactly he could go and hide for a while. Then he could hear from behind him some small engine noises and powerups.

- BD-2: Hellow I'm BD-2

- Cade: Had a fixed look at the BD unit not knowing how to react at that moment.......

This is the second Viper I've made for NoVVember 2011. I'm less convinced by this one than by my first try... But it was an occasion to try something with my limited stock of green and lime. Hope you'll like it anyway !!!

BTW I'm sorry if I can't answer all the comments I've received for the moment ! I'm terribly busy with work and other things, so please don't take it bad :-)

A bee sized nano drone used to infiltrate bee colonies and extract valuable information on their plans to take over the world.

It feels like ages since I made a freestyle spacecraft. I often find myself influenced by insects for some reason and when I saw the City Oceans Mini Sub Lego set (60263) I thought I might be able to make some kind of Viper using it's yellow mid-section. That grew into this bee nano drone. Because.. bees rock!

I might continue this and make a series of insect themed robotic sci-fi craft...

Caught in a death grip.

This weird looking thing is ship 4 in my melee Blacktron fleet. It’s great for opening up the hulls of passing enemy ships, or giant cans of tuna for the Blacktron space cat.

This might be it for this fleet. It's definitely it for this year. Plus, I think the Neo Classic Space guys will be needing a melee fleet of their own soon..

Here is a baby replica of the latest iteration of the LEGO Galaxy Explorer set 10497. It still has the main play features of the original set just down sized. Pop off canopy, steering wheels, opening rear end with boarding ramp, airlock sliding door and last but not least ride on booster engines!

This was a blast to build. And was inspired by the builds @troublesbricking made while I was travelling Europe. While on holiday I managed to track down this squad of space babies so that when I got as soon as I got back from holiday I could get into building this moc.

Instructions for the Gozanti are available at BrickVault!

Let's start 2025 with yet another Imperial ship! My ever-growing Nanofig-scale collection gets a new model: the very sleek Imperial Gozanti Cruiser from Rebels.

This build was painstakingly modeled to the most accurate reference material I could find. It features all the details of the original design: shield projectors, narrow viewport, symmetrical upper and ventral turrets, sensor array, tapered engines and wings...

The docking clamps on the underside can hold four TIE fighters I made for display, or two of my Midi AT-ATs, which are now updated and fully compatible with the Gozanti. All models are at the same Nanofigure scale.

The very organic shape of the whole upper section required a precise combination of angled panels in order to achieve a continuous, natural curve. This really felt like designing a fish, reproducing that "elongated teardrop" shape.

You'd think making a fish out of Lego was challenging enough... the wings of the ship had to not only be compact but also have a slight inwards taper. On top of that, they had to hold the weight of two AT-ATs. All these things were achieved thanks to a thin and sturdy technic structure.

This build also has detachable landing gear, and comes with two different stands: a short stand, ideal for displaying the Gozanti solely or with TIEs attached, and a beefier, taller stand to show it carrying two AT-ATs in mid-air. Badass.

At 55cm in length and made of about 3,000 parts, it's still a slim model that can fit pretty much anywhere in your Lego room. Once mounted on its tall stand with two AT-ATs though, it becomes a fairly impressive display piece, with more than 5,300 parts in total.

A little system moc I made so long ago

From March 2011 - Sorry for the poor quality pic, my Lego room is a a terrible mess for the moment, and I had troubles to find a good place to shot this MOC properly...

T Wing, as I imagined it. Hope you guys like it.

For any interest, all the stuff in the pictures are included in the instructions except the minifigs.

Here it is, my biggest MOC so far, with almost 110 studs in lenght ! This baby weight a ton and take almost all my black and white basic parts. Hope you'll like it !

PS - This ship is a tribute to LEIJI MATSUMOTO and especially the ship he created for the "Captain Harlock" saga, named the Arcadia. The concept and overall design is close, but not as elegant as the real thing, obviously :-)

As my exploration of Prequel ships continues, I'm trying to shift my focus to Minifig-scale more, and decided to give a crack at Obi-Wan's sleek Delta-7 from Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

At exactly 400 pieces, this compact and angular ship was full of technical challenges, especially with the constraint of making a proper interior that could accommodate a full Obi-Wan Minifigure without ending up with a bulky design.

Following my "wings must be as thin as possible" philosophy (like the Eta-2), I used a combination of plates & tiles for the outline of the wings, and bricks on their sides for the rest: this resulted in 2-plate thick wings, which give the ship all its slenderness, especially seen from lower angles. At this scale, and given how compact the ship is in-universe, I wanted to respect the slim and sharp look of the original design.

Making a functional cockpit with comfortable space was the most daunting task as I needed to securely attach the fin section and both angled fuselage parts that surround the cockpit without using any vertical space, where Obi-Wan sits. I also managed to incorporate a dashboard that doesn't obstruct the pilot's view and depicts the screen fairly well.

The model features detachable landing gear to be displayed on the ground, as well as a canted stand for a more dynamic pose. The model is very stable overall and perfectly swooshable.

Instructions for the Delta-7 are available on Rebrickable!

Ok, ok, I confess. I've been playing video games all this time :3

But I'm back in my 'crafting table'! The starship is about 80% complete. I'm trying out different greeble techniques. :)

Lego Star Wars Advent Calendar 2017: Day 6.

1993’s Blizzard Baron enters the LEGO City from Ive Planet 2002!

An OG Hoth snowspeeder, who doesn’t love that?

This set has a couple classic Ice Planet prints, cool minifig with accessories, and a decent amount of neon transparent orange elements for a little ship!

Not only is it a capable little snowspeeder, but it has a detachable communications base/portable science lab. Simple, but a good use of a few parts to bring more story elements to a small build.

I’m happy to have this guy added to my Ice Planet 2002 fleet. Did you have this set? Does it hold up as interesting to a modern audience? Anyone know why it’s also called the Ice Planet Vx122?

I’ll be looking at more retro LEGO soon, including more Space!

1993’s Deep Freeze Defender from Ice Planet 2002 enters the 2022 LEGO City!

It’s a particularly cold winter day today, take a look at this retro ice-themed SPACESHIP!

Honestly, this large spaceship may be my favorite from LEGO’s Space theme. It checks every box for me: Excellent color scheme, detachable base of operations, simple smaller “escape ship”, rover(s), useable interior space, and great action features!

My only critique for this set is that there is no droid, built up or mini-fig. Unless you consider the small satellite/Superlaser a droid? It roughly works in height.

I had this back in the day, super excited to have it back!

1991’s Blacktron II little battle pack, The Two-Pilot Craft. What a name.

This fun little craft is about as basic as it gets. No printed pieces, other than the minifigs, but the weird thing has charm!

Blacktron II is a great space sub-theme with the black, white, and neon green color scheme. Really screams retro LEGO to me.

Acquiring this set was really just to grab a couple more of these minifigs for cheap, but I’m happy with this funny little craft.

More ‘90s LEGO to be featured soon, including more (larger) Blacktron II

My U-wing V2.0 is officially complete! This ship is one of the best things to come out of the Disney Era of Star Wars and I wanted to do this amazing design justice. I originally created a U-wing Moc ~7 years ago and while it was fine for the time, looking back it has some major issues. New part releases and some greater experience helped me craft my version 2.0.

I'm also excited to announce that INSTRUCTIONS ARE AVAILABLE at www.brickvault.toys. if you're interested, please feel free to head over there and purchase them so you can also build this for yourself!

I will be posting more of this one as well, so also keep an eye out for that. I hope yall enjoy!

Here's a cool little blog about my Blacktron fleet, featured on the website Color It Blacktron. You can find the blog here: color-it-blacktron.blogspot.com/2023/12/the-shipyards-hav...

Finally a Amy Sedaris minifig!

(Seriously, she’s awesome)

First Naboo Starfighter I’ve build in, what, 23 years? LEGO has stepped up the experience. A very sleek build that is larger in hand then I expected.

Positives: minifigs- we finally get a Brown Eyes Pascal head. Build is not completely symmetrical, cool technique used in the engines. Storage space is sufficient on this thin ship. Swooshes. Good projectile integration.

Not as positives: gaps at the canopy. No extra hair element for Mando (I added one for the shoot). Price… The yellow coloring to homage the original ship looks a little off to me.

All in all very cool set, larger than I expected, and a nice building experience

Shout out to PopToys for having this set available before launch!

NeoClassic Space popping up in the Monkie Kid theme with Chang’e Moon Cake Factory

With the build-up to the release of the Galaxy Explorer 2022, I’m looking back at a few builds over the past year that harken back to Classic Space- NeoClassic Space

I’m not necessarily the demographic for this kit, but the neon transparent elements and color scheme caught my eye for MOC potential. When viewing it through the lens of a medium-sized spaceship from early ‘90s, I can appreciate the set as a compelling plaything.

The Bunny Mech, while not meant for minifigs, carries two intended bunny-pilots or a resting minifig. The butt of the ship can pop off to reveal either an energy fuel container or storage for valuables (if not just a microwave in a strange place).

The ship has interesting shaping, especially with the legs, and that great large dome element. Escape pod box gets checked. Stud-shooters are there to good effect as well.

The side-base, a moon cake factory, build is simplistic but charismatic and effective. There is a conveyor belt that might not be captured by my photos, which looks really good for the few elements used.

Simple carrot-rocket and hover-control station/Live-stream station are simple but effective small builds to add to the play value/storytelling.

A funny medium-sized kit with some good MOC potential. What do you think?

Instructions for the Venator are available at BrickVault!

The Venator is probably my favorite capital ship in the SW franchise. So what better tribute to this ship than bringing it to life a second time? And since this version will likely be the last, I wanted this build to set a milestone in my work. A proof of my dedication to a spaceship I love so much. Enter the Ultimate Venator-class Star Destroyer!

At almost 7,000 pieces and 85cm (33.4") long, this model is a faithful, screen-accurate replica of the Venator featured in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Neither quite UCS-sized nor Midi-Scale like my Negotiator, it had to be the most refined Venator I could possibly make. I modeled it closely after the source material to capture all the proportions, angles and intricacies of the original design at a reasonable size.

Although this isn't a direct update to my Negotiator but a separate model, the 25% increase in size gave me a lot more wiggle room, opening the door to drastically more complex design choices: fully SNOT wings on both the top and underside, clean tapers and angles, brick-built Open Circle Fleet symbols... although challenging, this intermediate scale offered just enough space to achieve the prop look I strive for.

And the best part is, this model scales perfectly with 2mpaired's Eviscerator ISD. I realized this shortly after settling on the size... the idea of pairing such a beauty with a matching-scale Venator made me even more motivated about this project.

Although it's a pure display model, its sturdy integrated stand makes it easy to handle safely. Lateral hangars can be switched between closed doors and deflector shields for variety. In addition to the classic version, the all-gray variant of the ship is also included for all you Empire addicts.
