This has been built for the Tinymasters Building Contest on Instagram (www.instagram.com/tinymasters.contest/). The theme for the round was "Tom Hanks movies" and I chose The Polar Express because I really liked the visual style.

I decided to build four things from the movie that stood out to me:

- Santa's HQ on the north pole

- The train arriving at the town square

- Santa's sleigh

- The huge Christmas tree including the wind rose base with all four arrows pointing towards south

You can find detail views of each module in this album: LEGO Polar Express

I updated my LEGO model of the Colonial Department Store (which rented space in the Cunninghams Drugs building). I added the large Art Deco blade sign and added the zigzag effect on the roof line of the building. I also converted the model into a semi-modular (The LEGO company's modular buildings line started with the Cafe Corner set). The ground floor is a separate unit with an interior (work in progress) and the roof is removable for access.

The building model measures 12.5 inches wide by 14.5 inches deep by 22.5 inches high (31.75 x 36.8 x 54.5 centimeters).

See my Flickr post preceding the photos of this model for images of the real building.

The building to the right is my revamped David Stott building model built in a slightly larger scale that the previous version (still a work in progress as well at this time).

Finished what I think are two of the most complicated sections in this design. The roof peak and the balcony had so many details on angled surfaces it took all my tricks to figure out how to fit it all in.

This is an Ancient Temple from India. This is the Nagara style of Architecture which was fully developed in the 10th century. Such Temples exist till date and are very much in use as a place of worship and pilgrimage. In Hinduism the devotee offers flowers and fruit to the 'deity' as a form of worship. Therefore we always see stalls selling garlands, flowers and fruit outside a temple. A visit to the Temple is not a sombre event, and could be and evening outing for the family or a 'picnic' Therefore one finds a 'fair' like atmosphere around the entrance.

Entirely made with pieces from the Imperial Hotel.

Thank you for your likes and comments! I wish you a happy 2020!

This is a Lego modular of the F-town Building located in Sendai, Japan by architect Atelier Hitoshi Abe. About 8500 bricks of which over 3000 are white 1x1 plates. 😂 Computer rendering but only existing bricks were used. Reference images.

Rumor has it that the devil offered to help build the church in return for revenge on God. He promised to build it as big as humanly (or devilishly) possible in order to impress the Lord. But he wanted the church’s architect to omit every window for the church to be as dark as a cave. The architect pretended to make the deal with the devil. When the church was finished, the devil came to see the work. He stood in the mighty doorway and grinned with glee as he could not see a single window in the walls; and he stomped to the ground in triumph. The marking of his hooved foot is still visible today in the marble floor; on the only spot in the church where columns block away the view to all windows.

The model consists of 1,559 pieces, is built in scale 1:650, and features a removable roof to access the detailed interior, including both organs and the marble altar.

I've build this interlude especially for a LUG venue in about 1,5 months.

From what you see 95% is new. I only reused the fountain, the gondolas and the street lighting from my previous Venice moc. The rest is new and build from the ground up.

Even the water had to be rebuild because it fell apart when i broke down venice part 1 in 23'

I hope you enjoy what you see, and if you have any technique breakdown requests. Let me know

The city has grown around the railroad and the Brickester City Council has decided to expand the station, preserving and restoring the old facade and covering the old hall with a new iron and glass structure.

This newly-restored station has quickly become the most important meeting point in the city. Thousands of people pass through every day. Some patiently await the journey home, others rush by to get to work on time, some people-watch with curiosity, whilst some anxiously anticipate the too-slow arrival of a loved one. Yet others carry all their worldly belongings in a suitcase ready to embark the train to a new life.

After 22 months of off and on construction, the LEGO Guardian Building is complete. The model is 8 feet (2.46 meters) high to the roof.

This model will be displayed for the first time at the Henry Ford Museum starting on November 24, 2014 and ending in early January 2015.

"Gathered friends... Listen again to the Legend of the BIONICLE."

A microscale landscape build with a central location from the island of Mata Nui, with a minifigure trophy part representing Takanuva, Toa of Light.

Taking inspiration from different depictions of Kini Nui temple from three separate BIONICLE media: the temple hidden in the jungle as depicted in commercials for the first BIONICLE sets, the four-spired temple in Mata Nui Online Game, and the area across the stream with the sand pit and the giant Toa head carving that features prominently in BIONICLE: Mask of Light.

Main temple structure was originally built for New Elementary Parts Fest

In a glade shadowed by pine trees lies this house. It has a large terrace (to some extent inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater) and a cosy conservatory with garden view.

It might not be my most complex build so far, but it's still one of of my hardest to finish. In April, after years and years of hard work as a legal counsel with high speed approach and self-imposed performance requirements, I ran out of energy. My brain stopped co-operating and I lost my ability to focus. Since then, I have been struggling to recover and to find a balance both at work and in my creative process with LEGO. Thus, finishing Pineglade House MOC means a lot to me and I'm glad that I'm now on a more sustainable path ahead.

Rock done with plates only.

On a recent trip to the coast, I noticed the many ways in which Land meets Water.

This MOC is an attempt to mimic rockwork as arches using plates. The result was a bowl shaped island which I made into a self sustained island village.

The very first BUILD Insights post, highlighting the rebuilding of my Transamerica Pyramid piece, is up on my Patreon page! Available to all IONIC patrons and above, this is the first of many posts to come that highlight the engineering involved throughout the building process, providing extensive documentation and diagrams to help shed some light on previously unrevealed techniques.

I can't tell you how happy I am to finally be able to pull back the curtain a bit on a platform that doesn't strictly limit image resolution or continual text!

Festina Lente!

This modular building is inspired by the modern Scandinavian architecture of the Rosendal neighborhood in Uppsala, Sweden. The wooden house consists of two parts, a cafe and apartments. About 3500 bricks. Computer rendering but only existing bricks were used.

I have wanted to build this house in Lego for a long time. However, the house is too big for minifig scale and a lot of details would be lost in micro scale. But when I saw this recently taken photo of the house, with the beautiful pink flowering tree in front of the house, it felt like a perfect alternative to build the tree with the house in the background.

A year ago I decided to only use existing bricks for my digital MOCs. But this time I really wanted to capture the original color of the house together with the color of the tree. Therefore this build is an exception from my rule. However, this is how the house would look if only existing bricks were used.

This historic precedent of Colonial Georgian Architecture sits at the heart of Philadelphia's old city center. Independence Hall also played a crucial role in the founding of the United States, as its storied assembly rooms witnessed the signing of both the Declaration of Independence in 1776 and the Constitution in 1787.

"No infected for almost five years. Compared to back then, the streets feel even more so empty.

I am the natural resistance in this time of isolation and doubt. With every change mankind achieved, even more stayed the same. A new identity past the war, a new life and never the less the unaltered destiny of the deserter. Those in the shadows still hide behind their false safety; they deny the unwritten history of their regime. The hunt is on and they will find me, for the sole reason that I want to be found.

No infected, but one."

This installment follows the protagonist as he is about to turn himself in to the state he once served for, a point central to his plan for vengeance. The half stud offset stairs and the plate stone texture was strongly influenced by Tayasuune.

I put this on Lego Ideas, because I think it might be a nice display model. So check out the link if you want to see it succeed. Thank you for your support!

So I won a place in the LEGOLAND Billund Gallery and the entry I chose was actually too big to fit. Ever tried shrinking a model? Yeah, you better start from scratch. At least that’s what I did. I laid out the size it can have, so that I could transport it in a box and within that frame I started to build the base again. The build is now in a cabinet at LEGOLAND for the season 2022.

With this building I wanted to create a single-color house and instead of colors using a lot of structure on the facade. The building can be opened at the back and when fully opened, the two parts of the back expands the facade on the front and it becomes a 64 studs wide building. On the ground floor there is an architecture office and above that a large apartment. About 9700 bricks. Computer rendering but only existing bricks/colors were used.

Yes, this is the Beast's castle! So dark, so baroque, so majestic! It's a MOC created by me starting from another one, the one by jm_rkuhtect that you can find and download from Rebrickable website. I fell in love with it at first sight! I modified it in colors and dimensions, shrinking it and bringing it back to the same Architecture scale of the other sets and castles.

Check out the other MOC on jm_rkuhtect's page! He is so talented!

“An old knight is enjoying his retirement and pursuing his hobbies after years of battles and quests.” Howdy flickr! I’ve built with Lego for as long as I can remember, but I’ve only recently gotten back into it, and this is the first castle MOC I’ve built in a long time. I would appreciate any comments or feedback, hope you enjoy!

The most recognisable building in Australia, built at a 1:2200 lego scale

The house is a calm and silent place to call home. The livingroom is hovering above the still water of the swimming pool. The living area is divided into different floor levels. Kitchen and toilet are located on ground floor. Landing, livingroom, bedroom and bathroom can be found on next level. A combined music and reading corner is hosted on the highest level. A friend of mine told me that she imagined this house to be located in Italy. I think that Italy is a very good guess.

Pièces : 2150

Dimensions : 63cm * 15cm * 14cm

The white flowers surround this split-level house inspired by 20th Century modernist architecture. The SNOT windows along the livingroom and bedroom started this build and it is almost a little brother to my previous Artsand House MOC. As always, I've spent a lot of time working on the interiors and I'm pretty fond of the combined kitchen and livingroom myself. I hope you like it too!

Second photo shoot.

My LEGO replica of the Detroit Public Library, Main Branch is part of the Michigan Lego User Group (MichLUG) display in the Henry Ford museum from Nov. 20, 2016 to early January 2017.

This is the first time my complete model of the Cass Gilbert designed Detroit Public Library has been on display. I have not modeled the 1960s additions with the exception of the Cass ave. entrance.

The iconic museum designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, in 62 bricks.

One thing I love about exploring new cities is the refreshing feeling of wanting to know more about its history and the landmarks which have weathered it all. Philadelphia was no exception for me in this regard after spending a full day scouring its streets last September. What was exceptional, however, is that I took enough inspiration with me to channel into not just one, but TWO all-new works depicting some of the city's most historical sites!

You can be the first to see both of those new works, and get access to exclusive rewards when you become a patron on my Patreon page!
