I know this seems like I'm repeating myself with images......I'd taken a few of this drop that seems so perfect........this was my other favorite......but I use an l.e.d. light with it to enhance the colour and light.......like I do with some of my other macros
Thank you for all your wonderful reactions.......comments and invites to the last one.................so hopefully you won't mind me posting this one as well.......
Christmas is making a slow exit from our place. Today I took down the lights that were strung around the cat tree. I sort of dumped them on the chair where Tessa has taken to sleeping in a box. Next thing I know she's in her box surrounded by a bright rainbow of colours. And that's the way it's gone all day. Tessa comes out of her box and then she goes right back under those LED lights when she returns. The lights give off just a little bit of heat but it's enough to make Tessa quite happy.
Yes, Christmas is making a slow exit from our place.
The name of this springtail is Heteromurus major. Heteromurus major begins with the first letter of my surname.
Based on these characteristics you can recognize a Heteromurus major :
- It has scales, scaled species can survive longer in dry conditions.
- 3rd antennal segment is about as long as the other antennal segments.
-1st antennal segment is subdivided.
In this specimen, the left antenna (for the viewer right), is a partially recovered broken antenna.
The FlapJack 1x1 creates very pleasing diffused portrait or interview lighting right out of the case. Check out our Fotodiox YouTube or Facebook page to leran more about this new light.

Not yet visible... whacking great cloud in the way... thought I'd take a photo of the clouds as they passed by.
Runied bulding by the roadside, out in the wilds of Perthshire at Sheriffmuir.
Taken for the theme 'Bread' in Macro Monday group on Flickr... A good old Naan being used to eat my lamb and chickpea curry which is my youngests favourite tea at the moment.
Today's Macro Monday theme was B&W.
I was thinking of metallic things that I could photograph to get a metallic feel in the image and thought it would be interesting to see the state my wedding ring is currently in.
When it was bought it was a mirror finish and every now and again I take it to the jewellers to be re-polished and usually, because it's so bad, they have to check if it's supposed to be a polished or a matt finish.
I have possibly one of the least manual jobs in existence so I've no idea how my ring gets in such a state with dings and scrapes, but I never take it off when doing stuff as I know I'll only lose it!
HMM!

This morning I was following this little springtail in live view on my camera and suddenly it was bending over and I could see an "egg" coming. After exact 13 minutes the "egg" was a little darker and not so smooth anymore and then it was suddenly laid.
Don't tell me it is something else. :-)
I found this springtail in a swampy part of the forest where the soil is still soft and humid but now passable due to the drought.
It was not easy to get the light in, because there was a leaf partly over it like a cover. I could not remove the leaf and take the risk of frightening the springtail.
