My tramping buddy leads the way along the ridge as we head for Tama Peak (high point to the left). I follow behind, stopping to grab a shot here and there then hurrying to catch up...

Receding waves provide the leading lines along the golden sandy beach on Kauai. Shutter was dragged for 0.3 seconds. F/18 or so. ALOHA!
I took this photo on the Rham-Plateau which makes up part of the former fortifications of Luxembourg city. It is inside a tunnel that leads to higher ground on the city wall and a munitions depot. When I explored it I immediately realized that the light and rails would make a great tunnel photo. But there was nobody there! So I waited at the entrance for people to come by and asked them if they were up for a short impromptu photo shoot. Amazingly, they went for it. I was very happy. This is one of my favorite photos from the trip.
Sixty years ago toward the end of July each summer, my folks packed me into our faithful dark green 1951 Buick Special and dropped me off for a week long Bible Camp at Lake Koronis near Paynesville, Minnesota. The week was a great respite from the drudgery of farm work that filled my days on the farm.
The camp was where many aspiring young people eagerly met to sort through a pool of potential mates from several surrounding states while innocently using Bible study as a method of approach.
Each morning except for closing day on Sunday, an amateur trumpet player would irritate us campers as he pierced the early morning hour waking us up for a day of festivities.
The first order of the day called for everyone to groggily assemble on an open part of the campgrounds where we were led by a dear man, Jay Walden from Minneapolis, who had a great voice he used to lead the campers in calisthenics that he exuberantly started off with jumping jacks while atop a picnic table.
There was a great variance in enthusiasm from his audience. There were a few compliant campers that were like this swan but for the most part the majority were more similar to the half dozen ducks directly behind the swan to the right who are quite content to sit and watch and probably make murmured comments.

Russia. Moscow. Resurrection Gate.
The first stone gate leading to Red Square was erected in 1538, when the Kitai-gorod wall was being reconstructed in brick. When the structure was rebuilt in 1680, the double passage was surmounted with two-storey chambers crowned by two octagonal hipped roofs similar to the Kremlin towers. In 1931, the Resurrection Gate and the chapel were demolished in order to make room for heavy military vehicles driving through Red Square during military parades. Both structures were completely rebuilt in 1994-1995.
Santa Fe B40-8W 514 was leading a westbound stack train across the Mississippi River on a dreary day in Fort Madison.
The BNSF merger was looming on the horizon at the time but at least the Santa Fe went out looking mighty fine.
This was a day spent in the Fort Madison area and was one of the busiest days that I ever experienced on the Santa Fe, which saw near constant action and seemingly endless variety.
They truly were the best of times.

Saturday challenge - Leading lines
52 in 2022 challenge/27 Pointing the way
After catching BC Rail 4653 leading A419 through Flatbush, and BC Rail 4646 leading A418 through Dapp, I stopped at this iconic spot just north of Westlock, Alberta, where the old Northern Alberta Railway telegraph lines steal the show. Although the whole subdivision is lined with them, this particular stretch is always my favourite.

Emily and I spontaneously decided to drive up to Lancelin yesterday just to explore and spend the day doing something out of the norm. Of course I brought the camera along just in case I found any interesting dunes. Between all of the dunes covered in tyre tread marks from the motorcyclists, this dune stood out and caught my eye.

I shot this in color and B&W during the blue hour facing west after sunset and decided that monochrome worked best, the lines were gold so I needed to tone them down a bit.
Leading the way... It is thought that one reason geese honk is to encourage one another in their journey. The position of lead in the “V” formation changes frequently as this goose does not receive the benefit of less drag that his followers do and thus, tires more quickly.

This weeks message is "Go With the Flow"
A Taoist story tells of an old man who accidentally fell into the river rapids leading to a high and dangerous waterfall. Onlookers feared for his life. Miraculously, he came out alive and unharmed downstream at the bottom of the falls. People asked him how he managed to survive. "I accommodated myself to the water, not the water to me. Without thinking, I allowed myself to be shaped by it. Plunging into the swirl, I came out with the swirl. This is how I survived."
I had a different plan for this weeks photo, and it did not work out. I had this idea last night, and it also did not come out as planned. I became so frustrated with the details of the photo, and my inability to achieve the results I wanted, that i don't even remember what point i was trying to make. So, I begrudgingly accepted what I had and posted it. After sleeping on it the message became clear.
We cannot always control the events of our lives. even the little details tend to go awry. A zipper breaks, the road is closed, they are out of your flavor of ice cream, or you photo is not what you wanted. It is by accepting what comes our way, and going with it, that we will reach our destination.
So, I am not thrilled with the photo, but I get the message, and that is good.
Lesson 2
When all else fails, laugh at yourself!
