One of CN's two military tribute units is leading CN 310 as it approaches Turcot Ouest, where it will set off cars for CN 400.
This image was made in response to the August 23 Macro Mondays group challenge, "Leading Lines."
"Leading lines are lines that appear in a photograph that have been framed and positioned by the photographer to draw the viewer's eye towards a specific point of interest. These lines often draw the viewer's eye in a specific direction or towards a designated portion of the photograph." -- masterclass.com

A Southern Railway Class 387 in Gatwick Express livery crosses the viaduct at Cams Mill in Fareham working 1N23, the 11:14 Fareham – Brighton service, starting short due to late running of the inbound service. 22 October 2025.
After hearing that 4145 would be leading this afternoons 852, I got ready to leave to shoot it, however it seemed the weather decided to have a massive thunderstorm and some tornado like weather, causing severe alerts and backing interstate traffic up bad. I thought my chances of catching 4145 were as good as none.
However, 4145 was also not having a great time. Due to either the massive storms ahead, or a signaling issue (or both) the train was stopped outside of Riverdale for 20-30 minutes, allowing the storm to pass and giving me time to get trackside.
The product is a not half bad shot of P852 on the Thomas Viaduct.
Dongji Island, Zhejiang, China 东极岛——中国浙江
The Dongji Islands are a few small islands in the far east of the Zhoushan archipelago. The small communities on these islands have recently experienced an upsurge in tourism because a movie called "The Continent" was filmed there. Still remote, the islands are far enough out to sea that the silt of the Yangtze River Delta doesn't reach the sea around them, giving them nice blue water, a rarity in this region of China.
We were camping at Bear Lake, Idaho, when a thunderstorm approached from the west. There were beautiful curtains of rain, dramatic wind, and lightning. When this bolt hit the water near the shoreline about eight miles away I packed up the camera and tripod and took shelter. I loved seeing the purple glow around the lightning.
A little sunrise foray into leading lines, silhouettes, and reflections. Created several versions of the same photo. I like them all for different reasons.

Sunrise on a very Summery morning. Been in the mid 70's for much of December and we're told Christmas day will be the same.
Well, I'm back after converting us to a computer system which forced us to "upgrade" to the Windows 10 64 bit Operating system. Its not too traumatic if you're coming from Windows 7. In fact, with some workarounds, I've been able to eliminate "Tile World" and get back to the Windows 7 style desktop. Life is good again.

Something different now, a little break in my colorful Dubai cityscapes. I felt it had more impact in B&W. The buildings on the background are Dubai Marina (where I live) & Jumeirah Beach Residence.

Metro-North Railroad SC42-DM no. 301 is seen charging out of the Park Avenue Tunnel portal with Hudson Line train 847 to Poughkeepsie. The locomotive is the first of the Siemens Chargers to enter service on the railroad, with a total of 27 - plus 6 purchased by the Connecticut Department of Transportation - planned to be delivered by 2027 and ultimately set to replace the aging P32AC-DM fleet.

Finally got a new camera and immediately went to Great Sand Dunes National Park to have fun playing with the shadows, contours, and textures. I had forgot how much fun it is shooting these scenes. A new scene would present itself every couple of steps.
My new camera set up is a Nikon D850. My Canon gear got stolen out of my truck back in December and I had been thinking about switching to Nikon, so this provided a good opportunity. So far, I'm very impressed but there are a few things that I'm getting used to. I have a lot of images from the sand dunes coming.
