So, those of you who know me, know that I often wander off in the woods and hills for hours on end camera in hand. Unfortunately on this occasion I made every mistake imaginable, wrong kit, kit missing, wrong settings and rushing to catch the light.

At first glance, you may think I’m crazy. The image looks decent enough right? Look closer and I’ll list everything that went wrong with this excursion.

1 - Wrong lens. I have been working with one focal length lately as an exercise to improve composition. This scene would have been so much better on a wide angle, but I only had a 40mm Macro lens with me.

2 – No tripod. I decided to pack light one camera, one lens, no tripod. I normally take a full bags worth of kit on a hike

3 – I shot in Jpg instead of Raw. The previous night I had decided to check the shutter count on my Nikon D7200. For some reason this only works 9only ways I have found to do this) is to upload a jpg to an online service that can then tell you. Foolishly I forgot to change back to Raw before I went out the next day!

4 - Rushing the shot. As it was getting on in the afternoon, the sun was dropping really quickly. I was already on my way out of the woods when i spotted the scene. With the combination of falling light and wrong lens, I rushed to get an image as quickly as I could

While there’s nothing wrong with shooting in jpg format. It really doesn’t leave a lot of editing doors open for a final image. Especially when shooting directly into the sun in a scene like this one. So, I decided to publish this as to always remind me to check and double check everything in the future.

I'e decided I will be writing a blog post to go into more detail about my "faux pas" later this week

"Know One"

Now it's clear they live without me

I'm not sure the stars align

They just fear that it's not easy

The stage is empty all the time

The world feels different when you're crazy

Make it work and sing the lines

And their ego fascinates me

We all pray to stay alive

I don't wanna fix it

I don't wanna fix it

I will never turn back time, no

I can't change the way they look at me, look at me

I won't show you what you'll never see, never see

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

Waste the life I dedicated

On the five I turn the page

I'm not so confident to argue

I won't miss you every day

I don't wanna fix it

I don't wanna fix it

I will never turn back time, no

I can't change the way they look at me, look at me

I won't show you what you'll never see, never see

In my eyes, in my eyes

It takes one to know one, right?

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

I will never lie awake again

Dreaming I'm alone

I won't let the voices in my head

Drown the pain I've grown

I can't change the way they look at me, look at me

I won't show you what you'll never see, never see

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

I can't change the way they look at me, look at me

I won't show you what you'll never see, never see

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

In my eyes, in my eyes

They just let your heroes die

As you know, tattoos have been around for a long, long time dating back to the antiquity of the Egyptian Pharaohs. People have been using different inking styles for many years. However, there are different and unique flower tattoo design ideas to commemorate an specific event in your Second Life or to simply add beauty to your body.

Chest tattoos for women on the upper side are beautiful locations on the female body that attract attention. Tattooed body parts have become new trends in the whole fashionable world.

Case in point. check out this gorgeous BOM Howlett Design's Angel Floral Chest VII Tattoo. I am also adorning Howlett Design's Butterfly Belly Tattoo to complement the butterflies in my hair. Additionally, I am wearing Alge's Fish Eyeshadow in Pink to pair flawlessly with the beauty and magic of these wonderful tattoos.

The Howlett Design's Angel Floral Chest VII & Butterfly Belly Tattoos and the Alge's Fish Eyeshadow are available at the SWANK Hollywood Glam Event this month. Come see the fabulous new creations there!

I know it's difficult... ;P

He's been curled up...mostly completely under all the covers, since 7am.

I was folding laundry all morning, and doing chores, and he just stayed there.

I don't think he's very fond of cold, wet weather. He was sitting by the floor

heat vents this morning, when I invited him up on the couch - he likes :)

All I feel is emptiness here...

searching for what you want me to say...

I'm terrified of their eyes when they stare...

this loneliness won't go away...

I've realized nothing I do feels right...

lost in my head and out of sight...

dreaming of the day when I leave...

and what the world has left for me ... Nobody knows who I am...

I've got intentions of gold..

with my plans...

You know the saying......

"Work with what you've got"

Well here in Hartlepool I have no Glencoe mountains. No Harris beaches.

But what I do have is the well captured Steetley pier.

Trying to find something a little different after all these years, is becoming increasingly difficult

But hey, I love a challenge

So off we set last night back down to our usual haunt.

I'd expected it to be busy, due the warm weather, which usually brings out people in their hoards.

Not the greatest of evenings

Doesn't it annoy when those who come decide to leave their bags full of rubbish.

Idiot folk setting light to things, so the local Fire Service need to attend

Then two foul mouthed youths decided it was fun to walk not past but onto the posts I was stood photographing

Sadly a sign of the times we live in now

But hey, I spotted this reflection under the pier which appeared to show a little more of the underside and due to the low tide, it's the section furthest into the sea

Yes, I know, they look the same every year, but what can I say, I love grapes ! :) About the grapes in this photo I mainly like the colour, a rather unusual shade of blue for grapes. There is also a wasp in this photo but I only saw the insect on my computer screen when I enlarged the picture.

You will see some more photos of grapes on my photostream in the next weeks but I will try to restrain myself.:)

Everybody knows that the dice are loaded

Everybody rolls with their fingers crossed

Everybody knows that the war is over

Everybody knows the good guys lost

Everybody knows the fight was fixed

The poor stay poor, the rich get rich

Thats how it goes

Everybody knows

Everybody knows that the boat is leaking

Everybody knows that the captain lied

Everybody got this broken feeling

Like their father or their dog just died

Everybody talking to their pockets

Everybody wants a box of chocolates

And a long stem rose

Everybody knows..

I know it hurts

It's hard to breathe sometimes

These nights are long

You've lost the will to fight

Is anybody out there?

Can you lead me to the light?

Is anybody out there?

Tell me it'll all be alright

You are not alone

I've been here the whole time singing you a song

I will carry you

I will carry you

I know you can't remember how to shine

Your heart's a bird without the wings to fly

Is anybody out there?

Can you take this weight of mine?

Is anybody out there?

Can you lead me to the light?

You are not alone

I've been here the whole time singing you a song

I will carry you

You know the words "once upon a time"

Make you listen, there's a reason

When you dream there's a chance you'll find

A little laughter, or happy ever after

You're a harmony to the melody

That's echoing inside my head

A single voice

: Single voice

Above the noise

And like a common thread

Hmm, you're pulling me

When I hear my favorite song

I know that we belong

Oh, you are the music in me

Yeah, it's living in all of us

And it's brought us here because

Because you are the music in me

Na na na na

Na na na na

Na na na na

You are the music in me

It's like I knew you before we met

Can't explain it

There's no name for it

I sang you words I've never said

And it was easy

Because you see the real me

As I am you understand

And that's more than I've ever known

To hear your voice

Hear your voice

Above the noise

And I know that I'm alone

Oh, you're singing to me

Ooh, yeah

When I hear my favorite song

I know that we belong

You are the music in me

It's living in all of us

And it's brought us here because

Because you are the music in me

Together we're gonna sing, yeah

We got the power to say what we feel

Troy: Connected and real

Can't keep it all inside, oh yeah

Troy: Ooh, yeah

It's brought us here because

You are the music in me

All I know is that this is the husk of a tropical nut. I had the privilege of visiting a wide range of tropical forests earlier in life and this was a nut I found beneath a tree during one of those visits. It must be about 30 years old and you can still hear the nut rattling around inside. Please comment with any ideas if you recognise what husk it might be. It's about 60mm (2-1/2 inch) in its maximum dimension. Strange how one hangs on to these small mementos! Maybe I should plant or open it!

Many thanks for all views, fav's - and particularly comments - all are greatly appreciated!

Happy Macro Mondays to you all!

I assume this is a rooftop restaurant, but I don't know. I just liked the lights reflecting on the water tanks.. Maybe my NYC friends might know the name of it. Photo taken at 28th and 6th.

I know not another 1 but its a blackcap.Taken years but finally a male out of the shrubs.

The blackcap is a distinctive greyish warbler, the male has a black cap, and the female a chestnut one. Its delightful fluting song has earned it the name 'northern nightingale'. Although primarily a summer visitor birds from Germany and north-east Europe are increasingly spending the winter in the UK.

Please do not use my images in any way without my permission they are copyright protected !!

Thanks to everyone that takes the time and makes the effort to comment and fave my pics its very much appreciated

I know this is corny but I love Christmas. It is such a magical time of the year. I know some would disagree with me. Their argument, it is crowded, commercialized and people are cranky. Perhaps.....but, everything is in perspective. Let me explain....yes, I have been alone and sad on Christmas. I have felt times where buy buy buy commercials have frustrated me. Moments where if I got hit by one more person and their rushing cart, that I might lose it. Trust me, I too have been there. But I started to realize, I could either focus on the bad, or the good. Instead of wallowing in self pity because I am alone on Christmas, I can instead go to the local church parish or nursing home and see if anyone needs anything. Someone else is surely lonely too and needs a tender word or a small gift to cheer them. When we see past our own circle around us we tend to see things a little differently. You can truly have your own "Christmas Carol" experience if you only soften your heart. Allow the real magic of Christmas to envelope you this year, see where it takes you. It will be an adventure you won't soon forget.

There are people who speak ill of the fog of Milan. I don't know that of the other countries, but this in Milan is a great fog, nice, affectionate, friendly. Allow everything like a caress. And then it seems to me that the fog invites to intimacy, optimism, confidence.

Gannets at Bempton in Yorkshire getting to know each other

They pair up for life

As you know it’s rare for me to post a black and white photo as I usually find myself thinking that the colour version is so much prettier. Then there’s the other reason- can’t possibly post that B&W version as there’s so many of the you post far superior monochrome images. But sometimes it’s just worth trying at least I suppose, so this is a B&W image of the bluebells that I posted a few weeks ago. I did find it quite interesting though that the blue turned white.

I know in some countries flowers are blooming already, but here is the same old and beautiful winter.

Waiting forward for spring, but in the meanwhile a photo of today's walking. Night temperature in this weekend will be -22°C, but days are sunny and beautiful.

I know this man

Who is dear to my heart

Suddenly one day

It was torn all apart

This man taught me everything

That I needed to know

But I never really listened

Until he had to go

He gave me love

And touched my life

It's all over now

He no longer has to fight

He tried to teach me

Right for wrong

The day he left

I wasn't that strong

He is gone now

It is hard to believe

This man is my dad

Who I will never see

But I will see him again

This I know

The day will come

When it's time for me to go

So, I'll hold him dear

And close to my heart

Cause the day we meet

I know we'll never be torn apart.

I know this is not the best shot because of the comp. I was on a backstreet in Woodstock ON and saw this and shot it quickly. Cool huh?

I know! It’s that time a year again when the bonnets are out in force, as a flower I regard them as a weed, but as a subject for a photo or 50 I love them. There are a couple growing up through a garden bench, this is one of them, expect a few more photos in due course. Thanks for stopping

I know that the cracks in this asphalt appeared before the plants poked their green stems up to the sunlight. However, I do appreciate how small plants will appear through concrete sidewalks and asphalt. The roots of the plant will take advantage of existing microscopic cracks. New cell growth takes place at the tips of plant roots. As the root system grows and develops, these tips act as feelers, seeking out the path of least resistance for expansion.

Did you know that Pine Siskins can survive in very cold temperatures? The metabolic rates of this species are typically 40% higher than a "normal" songbird. When temperatures plunge as low as -70 degrees C or -94 degrees F, they can accelerate that rate up to five times normal for several hours! (CornellLab)
