My Morty Moment.
An urban legend is born.
About seven years ago l tried the internet dating seen, to say it was interesting was an understatement.
For one summer l got to travel all over the state and have dates.
Despite being over two hundred pounds or 105 kg s l would still phone a friend, to say where l was, and that l was going on a blind internet date, just in case she turned out to be a female John Jarret rerun of Wolf Creek, and had a sledge hammer for my ankles if l tried to get away.
It was around Christmas, and l had a date, part of the date was to go to Woodend for lunch, and have some craft beer at the Holgate Brewhouse.
Before we caught up, l thought l would walk around and do some Christmas shopping.
I don’t mind cooking, although l am not the best at it, the process is relaxing, and l always find eating a meal l have made myself rewarding.
I found a homeware & kitchenware shop, and spotted the vegetable knife pictured over the map.
On an impulse buy, l bought it, and it should be noted that it is an excellent kitchen knife!
The part where it gets like a George Costanza skit out of Seinfeld, is we met at Woodend, and l had nowhere to stash the mini cleaver.
Doh!
We went to lunch, and she thought l had bought her a gift for the date and Christmas. She asked what l had, and pestered me to see what l had bought.
She was a little set back when l told her l had bought a mini cleaver, but she was a trooper, and was very cool considering her blind date had what looked like a meat hatchet.
Yes! l took a meat cleaver to a blind internet date.
Funny enough the date went well.
Happy New Year everyone, and hope you got a smile and laugh out my Morty moment.

i'm not very pleased with the result i got - in my mind this picture was supposed to be different, but yesterday i didn't have time to work it out. that's the worst part of running a 365 project

Taken with a 90mm macro at f2.8, 1/125 sec ISO 160.
The forks were on a plate of glass on a black surface. I used the speedlight with a diffuser on camera but bounced it off a sheet of white foamboard.
Exactly an inch :) as was this weeks theme.
The letters are on a kitchen canister from around 1940.

This man works as porter at Bangkoks Klong Toey Market.
Khlong Toei Market (also Klong Toey Market, Thai: คลองเตย; ) is Bangkok's biggest fresh market. It is located on Rama IV Road near the Khlong Toei and Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre MRT stations in the Khlong Toei neighborhood. The market offers low prices on raw meat, seafood, farm produce, and a few other items (clothing, kitchenware, etc.) and is open daily from 6.00 am – 2.00 am. In January 2010 CNN listed it as one of the most authentic markets in Bangkok as well as a place to avoid when hung over.

This adorable jar is marked ESD and MR 7239. I love his blonde hair and big brown eyes. He looks very much to me like he was produced for ESD by PY/Miyao; what do you think?
He is about the same size as my other jars, with a lovely shiny glaze. He really brightens up my kitchen!

This was scanned many years ago from a vintage magazine. Wouldn't it be fun to set a picnic table at a barbecue with all the onion dishware?
This still life display features enamelware, which I remember using as a child. I found these interesting facts at mysoulfulhome.com/enamelware-collectors-guide/:
* Enamelware was the first mass-produced American kitchenware.
* Production began in the 1870s, and continued through the 1930s.
* Items such as pots, kettles baking tins, and ladles were stamped from thin sheets of metal, then coated with enamel, which was fused in a very hot oven.
* Much lighter than the average kitchenware, easier to clean and less fragile than china, enamelware was very popular.
* Made by several manufacturers here in America and abroad, enamelware was known by many names. The names Agateware and Graniteware caught on and came to be used interchangeably with generics such as porcelainware and speckleware. Graniteware remains the name most widely used by collectors today.
I have combined images here from two museums:
Bodie State Historic Park, Bodie, California
www.desertusa.com/bodie/bodie.html
And:
The Austin Historical Museum, with permanent displays of artifacts from mining, ranching, the railroad, Native Americans and the old school as well as a printing press, artifacts/information on the USS Lander, old journals and books. All of these displays have either been loaned or donated by citizens around Austin, Nevada.

Cute overload alert! These adorable shakers are unmarked PY and match a headvase, planter and full bodied shakers. They have corks in their bases and stand about 2 1/2" high.
I would be a happy lady if there was a cookie jar . . . can you imagine?!

Explore #1! This became my most viewed and "most interesting" photo. Thanks for all the faves and comments.
I've merged two different shots in Photoshop (one with flash, one without) to get the orange glow underneath.
Single off camera flash (SB600) fired from left, flash zoom set at 50 mm, TTL mode. Black cardboard background.
