My kitchen, I love poppies and the splash of red they give to break up cream and white on the walls and ceiling.

Open and bright kitchen has granite countertops and a large island with a butcherblock top. The island has electrical and phone outlets and seating for 3-4 people. The window over the sink overlooks the deck and the back yard, where quail, rabbits and many species of birds are frequent visitors.
The kitchen ; the heart of the house. A room set on display in the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery, Hanley, Stoke on Trent. A room that would have been replicated thousands of times in small 19th century terraced houses across Britain right into the 20th century.
The crucial open fire with oven ; source of heat and means of cooking. On the floor a stone hot waterbottle for transferring some heat to the otherwise unheated bedroom. The mantel clock proudly displayed above along with the ornaments. A heavy-framed monochrome print on the wall. All the utensils ready on the table for a baking and cooking session, including a hare which would doubtless then have been skinned by the housewife ( no prepared supermarket meat in those days). And looming above, the pulley-raised drying rack with damp washing taking advantage of the heat of the fire until it was fit to iron ( the iron being heated in hot coals).
On the table a hand sewing machine for making clothes for the family. Not much rest for the diligent housewife in those days.

25 brave volunteers gathered at the Seattle office of the American Red Cross on January 31 to prepare and cook a meal for 300 from the trailer of a semi. Here, they prep trays of chicken parmesan.
The volunteers--from Red Cross chapters across Washington, the Southern Baptist Disaster Relief Team, and the WA State Chef's Association--were learning how to use Henry's Kitchen, a 53-foot self-contained mobile kitchen that can produce up to 12,000 meals per day. After classroom instruction from 4 trained disaster kitchen instructors, they cooked chicken parmesan, garlic mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables and dessert, which they donated to a local Salvation Army shelter.
The truck will spend the next several winters in King County, while a significant flooding risk still threatens the Green River Valley. For more information on disaster preparedness, visit www.seattleredcross.org.

This is a picture during the build. faucet and related plumbing has been replaced. ceiling fan has been replaced. Walls are now grey and the wainscoting is white. Looks super nice. The tile floor has a rectangular section that is not the same as the rest. We dont know if this was a previous repair or a "feature" when the tile was laid. There is zero water damage below this area when viewed from the basement. It shows well and the tenants during screening and walk-throughs have complimented this kitchen highly.

Small in size this fit-out required a sensitive approach towards the scale of the space. Some of the strategies included hoisting the base-building ceiling [just below 8’] up to 10’ in some cases; incorporating the use of glass to allow transparency and visual continuity in the space; and, the use of a limited palette of warm colours, materials and lighting to minimise visual clutter.
