Shot from Fort Zachery Taylor Historic State Park. The park closes at sunset, literally! I shot the picture and the park ranger said it was time to leave. He very gracious and kind, even gave me a ride out.
On my walk through the old town section of Key West I passed this building. It had been and possibly was still was a single family home. I was too shy to interrupt the gentleman from his reading to inquire.
The sign says Wm Rowan Architecture but that could mean the house was an architecture office or that it had undergone some work by that firm.
I also noticed the American Flag resting on a plastic bag so perhaps it was wanting a pole for hanging.
In any event I liked the house because it was the only one I came across that was not painted but stained a natural wood color and it was in good condition and looking as if it had recently been restored, perhaps after the recent hurricanes.

This is also my most stolen picture. I don't want to sound unfriendly, but please, please respect my copyright... I'm selling the rights to some of my pictures, and it's very important that people buying them can feel secure that it won't show up other places (even if it's "just" in a blog)... Sigh...

A morning view of the back of Leiden Central Station. The busy hart of Leiden, students rush over the cyclist lanes towards their college, and people are going to work with the public transport. This place is always buzzing with energy.

Navy Club Monument
Le triangle de terre formé par Greene, Whitehead et Front Strees à Key West, et connu sous le nom de Mallory Square, contient le plus ancien monument de la guerre civile de l'État et certainement l'un des plus anciens du pays. Ce monument a été érigé en 1866 par le Navy Club de Key West.
Selon un article publié dans le Army and Navy Journal en 1865, le monument a été financé par la vente de biens au moment de la fermeture de l'East Gulf Blockading Squadron, dont le siège était à Key West. Le monument aurait été à la mémoire de "ceux de leurs camarades tombés lors des graves épidémies de Yellow Fefer, qui ont visité la station pendant la guerre".
Le monument se trouve en face du musée d'art et d'histoire de Key West dans l'ancienne maison de la douane et du musée Mel Fisher.
The triangle of land formed by Greene, Whitehead, and Front strees in Key West, and known as Mallory Square, contains the oldest extant Civil War monument in the state and certainly one of the oldest in the country. This monument was erected in 1866 by the Navy Club of Key West.
According to an article published in the Army and Navy Journal in 1865, the monument was funded by sales of property at the time of the discontinuance of the East Gulf Blockading Squadron, which was headquartered in Key West. The monument was said to have been in memory of "those of their comrades who had fallen during the severe epidemics of Yellow Fefer, which visited the station during the war."
The monument stands across the street from the Key West Museum of Art and History in the old custom house, and from the Mel Fisher museum.
We were exploring in the Florida Keys and this Key Deer was resting in the shadows of a mangrove tree.
