What you see is a chinese mini key to unlock an ancient and traditional Chinese lock. The lenght of the lock is 2,5 cm = 1"

A Chinese mini key typically refers to a small, traditional key used with vintage-style Chinese padlocks. These are common for decorative boxes, antique-style furniture, or small chests.

"Macro Mondays" "High Key"

With the key of softness unlock the locks—with a whisper,

Set ope the doors, O Soul!"

Long time without them:-) the rest of them are here

It's been a while since I posted a monochrome image so here is one of my favourite subjects in a high key format.

I had originally aimed to catch the Belhaven Bridge in bad weather with heavy skies and stormy waters but the forecast was so far off that I was met with sunbathers and the flattest seascape I think I've ever seen. Not a ripple!

Still, I alway say that you need to make the most of what is available so instead of mean and moody skies we have a bright light image of soft clouds and smooth milky water.

[MACRO MONDAYS] [Low key]

Four keys I dug out of a keepsake box. Two of them are from my first car, a 1974 AMC Hornet. The other two opened a campus building and an office I once used in my undergraduate days; just never got around to returning them I guess.

Whilst woodland is a place to pause for some, it's a rush of vibrant activity for others. Go Dad!

Crazy Tuesday - keys

Well I used the "High Key" scene setting on my D750 on this minute bunch of dried flowers I found on the way home from dog walk. Like little sundials. The whole bunch is 3 inches across

On a quiet September morning, Mara clipped the leash to Ollie’s collar and stepped into the misty light. Ollie—a shaggy mutt with a nose for the extraordinary—tugged excitedly down their usual forest path, his tail a metronome of anticipation.

The woods smelled of rain and soft decay, and the world was muffled, as if it were holding its breath. Fallen leaves crunched underfoot, but Ollie paused, nose twitching, then darted into a patch of tall grass.

“Ollie!” Mara called, but he had already disappeared behind a low thicket.

She followed, brushing aside damp branches—and stopped.

There, nestled in a clearing no larger than a picnic blanket, bloomed dozens of tiny golden flowers. They were unlike anything Mara had ever seen—delicate, star-petaled, and each shaped like a perfect miniature sundial. Their centers glimmered as if catching sunlight that wasn’t there.

Ollie sat beside them, unusually still, his eyes wide and thoughtful.

Mara knelt. The flowers seemed to hum faintly, and as she watched, one slowly turned, its face tilting ever so slightly toward the sliver of sun breaking through the trees.

"They move," she whispered.

She reached to pick one, but stopped. It felt wrong—like interrupting something sacred.

Instead, she sat with Ollie, quietly watching as the tiny sundials turned through the morning. For a moment, time felt suspended. The world outside the clearing didn’t matter.

Eventually, Ollie stood, tail wagging again. They left the glade the way they came, the golden flowers vanishing behind them, as if they had never been there at all.

Back home, Mara checked every wildflower book she owned. No match.

But she didn’t mind.

Some things, she decided, are meant to be found only once.

Crazy Tuesday - Keys

Looked for a key with a bit of a 'different' cut out....... found this one that is used to secure the tow-hitch on a caravan - I did learn something when trying to photograph in an interesting position.......because it is metal it could stand 'on end' on my 'magnetic' tablet cover......who knew !!!

So just to make it a little more interesting, it stood proud in front of a bottle of cherryade!!

When the day has come to change your life and you are finally ready to join the Light Side of the Force - and you can't get the key for your Snowspeeder, because the craftsman has installed the new key rack beyond your reach. Inspired by the current situation at home: craftsmen and renovation work. Makes me want to join the Dark Side of the Force.

Yes. I did it, I went to the toy shop and bought Star Wars Lego. Just for MMs. The Stormtrooper figure is really tiny, just 4,5 cm (1,77165 inches), and the key, a pendant (a present from my brother), is even tinier, 1,5 cm (0,590551 inches).

Size of what you see in the frame: 7,5 x 7,5 cm (2,95276 x 2,95276 inches).

Thank you for your comments and faves, they are highly appreciated!

A Happy Macro Monday, Everyone!

Established in the early 11th CE, Key monastery (4,166 mts) is one of the most prominent Buddhist religious institutions in Himachal Pradesh. Over the years, the main structure suffered considerable damages on account of at least three wars and a devastating earthquake and except a few murals of ancient time and basic structural pattern, the monastery bears the evidences of restructuring and renovation in its architectural content.

It started out as a poorly composed low key image and I post processed the crap out of it, imho. I like it now.

Key Falls is a 50 ft. high waterfall near Brevard, North Carolina. I visited it with a true waterfall enthusiast/photographer and friend, Reid. If you visit this one, do so ASAP after plentiful rainfall to catch it like this, full of water.

Macro Mondays - Redux 2016--My favorite theme of the year.

The theme title I'm redoing is 'In a Row'.

The teeth on a key are in a row.

Taken with my Christmas present, a 90mm macro lens. First picture I have been able to contribute a true, with a macro lens, macro photo to Macro Mondays.

This was my take on the theme originally. flic.kr/p/MoU9bJ

i wanted to take an interesting polaroid of some of my vintage key collection. i am NOT happy so far with the results!

Here is my monthly non long exposure shot. While many of us would like to have seen more sea fog at the Golden Gate in recent months, there have been a few key events to marvel at. It's a very simple phenomenon, to be sure, but makes for interesting photography, nonetheless.

The thing with this moment (and do mean moment) was the way the hill just seemed to grow a fuzzy wool sweater of fog.

Thanks for having a look!
