This is the image that I initially saw when going over the Loxahatchee River bridge at 5 AM. I knew I had to come back here to do this, even though I was staying in the next town to the north in Stuart,FL.
I had planned a trip to our FL. east coast for some low tide coastal rocks shooting with Claudia (fraggle Red). this past weekend.
Having arrived at 5am and a little spare time, I thought I would check out this LH. When I went over the high bridge the image I saw of this LH was awsome...well lit with side lighting, this LH's reflection in the water was something I had to shoot at night.
This of course is not that shot, but I also wanted to do a sunset and having found no suitable location with Claudia in tow, I went back later that day to find this location at an apartment complex. Not the best sunset becasue of the storms, but a lot closer than my initial choices.

Jupiter Lighthouse was lit up with blue light last night in memorial of a city councilman that died suddenly last week. We got there way too early thinking we could see it at sundown. Duh, not so. We finally got some good lighting on it around 9:15 pm. The trees around it were blue too. The line through all the pretty colors on the water was from a boat passing by. Funny how it didn't get the boat in the picture and surprisingly there were several boats on the water last night. This is only a 15 second exposure. I liked it better than the 30 second one.
I'm an early morning person, but I really enjoyed some long exposure night shooting. I'll be back to birds in a couple of days.

Yesterday morning I got some crazy colors during sunrise. This was probably the most colorful sunrise I've seen in a very long time. I stopped at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse first to test out my new 18-270mm lens. With this lens and my Canon Rebel T3, I think I have the perfect combination for a small DSLR setup for traveling. I plan on using this setup for two months in Thailand starting June 8th! The detail with my Rebel T3 isn't as good as my 5DMK2 but the color is just as vibrant. And that's what I'm looking for because Thailand is a very colorful country so this setup will work perfectly for my trip.
