I am milking this full moon shot to death! Here's the final version of the full moon rise from the Jupiter Lighthouse. This version is combination of the single RAW exposure and HDR image. Basically I took the best of each image and merged them into one HDR photo. This one has no noticeable halos with more detail in the bridge and trees. Also this HDR photo is more vibrant with more contrast in the moon. And to top it off, this set of exposure has a person on the lighthouse looking at the moon :-)

Turned out there was one more of these shots rattling around, so here it is, for completeness.
As a traveler, its sometimes easy to overlook the photo opportunities in your own backyard. This was captured just north of where I live, in a little town called Jupiter here in Florida. Much has changed in this town since I lived there and went to high school, but the inlets still there and the fish are still biting!

Here's the HDR version of the full moon rising at the Jupiter Lighthouse. The HDR version came out a lot better than I expected. There is a slight halo around the trees and a purplish cast around the moon but I'll take care of that later. Compared to the single shot, it don't look all that bad. The colors are a tad over the top but that was just me playing around with the image. I think a combination of the HDR and the regular shot would make this image perfect. The printed version of this HDR looks fantastic, the detail is amazing! It actually looks better than the regular photo, minus the halos of course.

It is always a special time when you get the right type of clouds in the sky at sunrise. - LSMITH_1966-HDR
Here is one of my favorite film captures that I found in some family photo albums. This depicts the Jupiter Inlet, as seen from DuBois Park, back when we still lived in Jupiter, Florida. The actual date of capture is unknown, however, I would assume that this photo was taken some time in the very late Nineties. Interestingly, that would mean this photograph was shot before I was born!
Some other details to note:
-Jupiter Lighthouse in the center
-The Jupiter Federal Highway Bascule Bridge is retracted
-Higher presence of Australian Pines by the lighthouse
-The fabulous scenery!

By the way, this picture has been re-uploaded, as I realized that the picture was not properly scanned, thus I edited it.

The Jupiter Chief of Police, Frank Kitzerow, purchased my Jupiter Lighthouse Full Moon photo on canvas to hang in his office. The Chief loved this photo so much that he wanted the Captain to personally sign it for him. I don't sign any of my photos because I feel it distracts from the image. But if some one wants my signature, especially the Jupiter Chief of Police, I won't say no.
If you would also like to have this photo hanging on your wall you can purchase it at the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Museum.

Sunrise from May 25 2014 along Palm Beach County at the Jupiter Marina, Juno Beach Pier, Dubois Park and Jupiter Lighthouse. HDR image processed in Photomatix.
I was in for a treat this morning during the sunrise over the Jupiter Lighthouse. While I was shooting, a school of Dolphins came through playing. They stayed for about 15 minutes before moving further into the Loxahatchee River behind camera.

The Jupiter Lighthouse in the Jupiter Inlet. Isn't it wonderful? I got some great shots from the top, too. :) 105 steps; that's nothin! ;)
My usual browsing of images in que for posting had me slam on the brakes as I came across this one. I captured it a while ago, processed it a few days ago, and heard some disturbing news this evening. Apparently, there are some controversial plans on the table for this unique marina setting. As I spent a good 10 years of my life around this area growing up, I have a special bond with its older Florida feel. Are the new "yacht condos" that are in the plans really the best vision for the area? This blogger thinks not. Looks like big money is gonna win this one though....doesn't it always :(
I think I'm gonna have to capture a bit more of this area before change happens.
