No matter where you look he is there.
Short: CHEERNO SHORT GARDEN TMD EVENT
A couple of weeks ago I went on a photo trip to the Blak Forest which I really miss since moving to Mannheim. My photo buddies Dennis and Scotty went with me and even though the weather was a mixed bag during our trip we had a lot of fun. It really felt great revisiting the locations I enjoyed so much while still living there.
Before heading back home we went to the Ravennaschlucht near Freiburg which is a small canyon that despite its many visitors looks almost like it wasn't touched for thousands of years. It's one of the few areas in Germany where you can really get a grasp of how things must have looked in the past. While I had hoped for fall colors everything was still green. Still, it was for me one of the highlights of our trip.

Jungle river
As a child I had a very good friend , twenty tree books and hundreds of comics.
My friend and I played Tarzan , no, we were Tarzan , the twenty tree books were , ofcourse , the Tarzan series by mr. Edgar Rice Burroughs and the comics, well, you can guess what they mostly were.
Climbing in the trees, which were for us trees in the jungle ,swinging from branch to branch like monkeys and dreaming from a life in the tropical rainforests of Africa was our childhood.
When we were seven or eight years old, we even thought that we could stowaway on a fright ship to Sierra Leone and then we would be so close to Tarzan's jungle. The rest of the trip we would walk, no problem, only a thousand kilometers for us youngsters.
Things ofcourse turned out differently. I lost track of my childhood friend , but I'm sure the both of us did not loose track of the Tarzan stories. For me, there are only some differences, the jungles of Central Africa were changed to those of South-East Asia , my Jane is a Filipina but my dream to be in the jungle came true.
539) Eyebrowed Jungle Flycatcher
Eyebrowed Jungle Flycatcher, Vauriella gularis
Another Bornean endemics.
Just off the road down a small track from the sheep I found myself in a little reserve and there was a feeling George of the Jungle might swing by anytime. Now that reference ages me :)
The jungle surrounding Cobá is very hot and humid. We arrived early and a bit of mist from the night was still in the air.
I really loved creating this cake!! It's been awhile since I last modelled animals and have to say that I was a little rusty at it! I'd forgot how much fun it was to make kids birthday cakes!! Anyhow this cake is all about fun bright colours and jungle animals having an awesome time with their little pal Jackson. The candy stripe poles have been inspired by the Dots gorgeous creations (Cupcake by design) =)

Combination of two jungle dragon sets (nr. 71746)
I bought two of these mostly because of the color 'Teal', which I had none of. While building the set, I really felt like I could make an upgrade if I combine the two, so I did it.
Only with a small number of my own parts (ball joint connectors and mixeljoint connecters) I only used the parts of the actual sets, which was a fun challenge for myself.
I got rid of the wings, mainly because I didn't like them on the set and a wingless jungle dragon fits more in my view.
Hope you enjoy these shots, I definitely did!

Abused, Abandoned Jungle Dogs.
Boney Baloney aka Captain Gray Beard
is testing the air for any cobra scent.
This takes place next to our place
here in the jungle beside a river.
Having only one good eye adds
to the mystique of his reputation.
A fierce jungle warrior and one
of the best snake dogs ever.
[Of course The Worm takes
top billing for the best ever.]
At this stage in life Mr Boney Baloney
relishes in taking senior citizen naps ;-)
I'll have to go back and do the numbers
but I think Boney is around nine yrs old?
And that my friends is real old for a jungle
dog. Especially a rescued jungle dog that
arrived with only 24 hours left to be alive.
And lets not forget he recently Frog Marched
to large pachyderms off our property at 2:30AM.
When friends show up he picks up a leaf or small
twig and brings it to them as a gift of friendship.
If a stranger shows up he stands his ground
and demands they recite the code word
for the day. If they can't he politely
asks them to leave, asap !
He loves Pumpkin Pie and Mr Larry the Monkey.
We have been very fortunate to have Boney
in our lives. Another special internet Star.
Thank You.

Taken in the Rainforests of Dominica, Virgin Islands, on my way to visit the Emerald Falls. It is so shady, wet and dark in most areas it is hard to get a well exposed shot...Didn't have good luck with the Falls, much too rocky. It was impossible to set up my tripod even though my daughter obediently carried it!
Large Pencil-tailed Tree Mouse (Chiropodomys major) - Danum Valley, Malaysia
A particularly photogenic mouse stops scrambling through the vegetation and takes a second to look at me. These mice live off a mostly vegetarian diet and keep to the trees. The reading I have done states that Chiropodomys is in general an uncommon and seldom studied genus, in contrast I found these mice to be relatively common in the jungle at night. Atleast this was the case during the second field season, during my first field season I never encountered them, its anecdotal evidence but I think perhaps because it was a mast year with many trees producing fruit and seeds that these mice were easier to encounter as they moved around looking for food.
