Thought I'd take a break from posting bird pics, instead show off my feisty four year old, June! She's always ready to "pose" for me.

The GCR tried a new event last weekend running trains continuously overnight Saturday to Sunday. I was rostered to sign on at 04.00am on BR Standard 5 4-6-0 73156.
We headed the 05.00 Loughborough to Leicester North service but after running since Saturday morning the fire was clinkered and 73156 didn't steam as well as it normally does. On our return we went on shed where I serviced the loco cleaning the fire & emptying the ashpan. We are now ready for our next trip to Leicester at 09.30.
Another BR Standard, 2-6-0 78018, is also simmering away on shed after working through the night.

Mama was out there with it but Ryan and the dog spooked her. Ozzy sniffed and nudged the baby but he would never hurt any tiny critter. I fed and kept an eye on the community ferals when they came by and then went back to check where the baby had been. He was gone, hopefully to mama and siblings. Now I need to find out where the brood is hanging out.
Two photos of a lovely young mother, June Ann. This one is more recent. Thanks, JA, you're a beauty!
Ovid provides two etymologies for June's name in his poem concerning the months entitled the Fasti. The first is that the month is named after the Roman goddess Juno, wife of Jupiter and equivalent to the Greek goddess Hera, the second is that the name comes from the Latin word iuniores, meaning "younger ones," as opposed to maiores ("elders") for which the preceding month May may be named (Fasti VI.1–88).

Lately I've grown quite fond of this June sculpt. Well, since this little shoot in May I added one more June to my little bunch :D I love how different every version of her is and how beautifully diverse :)
My last appearance on graduation was in June of 2000, and that was not even my graduation. Whether i don’t like the experience or being claustrophobic but I’m not graduation person. After that year I lost all feelings for graduations. Give me my diploma & call it a day. No feelings, no memories. Leaving that graduation in Brooklyn college & walking out of that gate choking on pain I said to myself “never again”. Call me strange but I don’t like two things; graduations & traditional weddings (unless it’s somewhere in the nature or by the water, NO CATERING Halls!)
