The jumping spider family (Salticidae) contains more than 500 described genera and about 5,000 described species, making it the largest family of spiders with about 13% of all species. Jumping spiders have some of the best vision among invertebrates and use it in courtship, hunting, and navigation. Though they normally move quietly and fairly slowly, most species are capable of very agile jumps, notably when hunting, but sometimes in response to sudden threats. Both their book lungs and the tracheal system are well-developed, and they use both systems (bimodal breathing). Jumping spiders are generally recognized by their eye pattern. All jumping spiders have four pairs of eyes with particularly large anterior median eyes.

Lads will be lads. This bunch of lads were having a whale of a time jumping into the sea at Manarola. Quite surprisingly a couple of spectators tried to stop them, but as you would imagine the lads knew best. Thankfully they all seemed well as they retired for the night.
Females lay a clutch of 125+ eggs. The spiderlings stay in the nest for about a month after they hatch; the female guards the nest and dies shortly after the young leave it.

A very rare hare sighting in my front yard. He waited for me to get my camera, posed nicely and then he/she was off in a flash.

Here's a moment to cheer from this year, zoom in on the jump it's worth it.

Kids playing on the famous teak wood bridge in Kanchanaburi province, near the border to Myanmar. The kids, with many in tribal dress, earn some extra income for the family by posing for tourist pics, whilst balancing flowers on their head. i prefer the unposed moments inbetween :)
p.s. i did give them a little something, quite a bit later, unrequested and unexpected, long after the play had ceased.

Unfortunately this photograph is not sharp at all. It was a few minutes after sunset, my flash was backed in my backpack. And this guy was really skittish and was moving really quickly. But for me this photo is a souvenir from my wonderful vacation.

I've never had a dog that after 3 days of camping still had anywhere close to this much energy. She actually swam for at least 45 minutes nonstop right before this, while I was wading chest deep fishing.

I was at the beach again. This time to work and participate in an amazing charity shootout.
And I loved it.
The sound of those waves, the smell of the sea, the feel of the wind and the constant CLICKING of my shutter--- has a therapeutic effect like none other. And this is Rosina, not me. But it is exactly how I feel.

Something I've been meaning to try for some time... Jumping Pine Marten! Ideally I was after some daylight shots of them doing this but they either didn't play ball or I wasn't ready.
Fortunately it worked well at night though - once I'd eventually got the settings right!

Up the hill from Grammy's house in Allentown, PA, is a large covered water reservoir that is surrounded by a park. D is jumping off of one of the reservoir ventilation pipes.
This is a place steeped in memories for Stephanie. She visited the park with her grandfather and her father during her childhood visits. Now, it has become a special place to visit with C and D. We had a lovely morning playing with the camera and singing and playing into the reservoir pipes.
