Joined by Reps. Debra Heffernan, Deborah Hudson and Mike Barbieri, Sen. Patricia Blevins and Secretary Landgraf, Gov. Jack Markell signed legislation adding e-cigarettes to the state’s public, indoor smoking ban during a ceremony July 7 at Tutto Fresco Restaurant in North Wilmington. Delaware will become the fifth state to ban e-cigarettes from public places, including restaurants and bars, when the measure becomes effective in 90 days.
The bill’s primary sponsor, Rep. Heffernan, said she got the idea one night when her daughter, Charlotte, asked her why someone was smoking inside a restaurant. The smoker was using an e-cigarette. “That’s why I think every restaurant owner … [is] really happy to be able to do this, so that their customers and employees breathe clean air,” Rep. Heffernan said.
Gov. Markell said the bill, which enjoyed bipartisan support, is necessary to protect the public health, including that of a growing number of Delaware teens who are trying e-cigarettes. The number of young people using e-cigarettes has tripled since 2011, jumping to 14.3% in 2014. Young e-cigarette users also are far more likely to continue smoking cigarettes than non-e-cigarette users are. The Governor added that one in five youth using e-cigarettes was not previously a tobacco user.
Secretary Landgraf thanked Rep. Heffernan for her passion and dedication in getting House Bill 5 passed. “This, indeed, is another step that will enable us to keep Delawareans healthy,” Secretary Landgraf said.
Adding e-cigarettes to Delaware’s Clean Indoor Air Act protects the public from toxic emissions and sends message that nicotine in any form is not safe, said Public Health Director Dr. Karyl Rattay, who could not be at the bill signing, but testified numerous times in support of the legislation. Nicotine from e-cigarettes can remain on indoor surfaces for weeks to months.
The dining room features a long bar and open kitchen, but will soon be joined by a patio in warmer months.

Dr. Elliot McGucken's Hero's Odyssey Fine Art Landscape Photography! The breaking Malibu mist was epic!
Hero's Odyssey Fine Art Landscape & Nature Photography for Los Angeles Gallery Show !
Will be busy printing and framing in nice large, matted formats and frames and museum glass! Five of these photos will be printed on 40" x 60" floating wall mounted metal sheets! I think I know which--will share photos of the photos hanging on the walls!
And I am mounting some on plexiglass/acryllic--front mounting them! Some I am printing on lossy fuji-crystal archival paper too, and then front mounting 40"x60" versions to plexiglass--will send photos!
The secret to HDR photography is that you want people to say, "Woe dude--that's unreal!" And not, "Dude--that's not real!" "Unreal" is the word they use when they're trying to figure out the photo--what makes it cool--is it a photo? Is it painted? How'd it come to be--how'd you bend the light that way? "That's not real," is what they say if you have the saturation/HDR/ etc. turned up too high. :)
Some (almost) final edits for my Los Angeles Gallery Show! Here's how I do it:
Print: Fuji Crystal Lightjet Metallic front-mounted to 1/4" Acrylic.
Acrylic: 1/4" with regular polished edge
Backing: White aluminum 3mm
Hanging Mechanism: Silver aluminum float box
I'll be using the top-of-the-line, museum-quality gallery format consists of the highest-quality prints on Fujicolor Crystal Archival Paper, front-mounted to UV-resistant protective acrylic, backed by a solid aluminum sheet, and fastened to an aluminum silver frame "float box" for mounting on the wall.

Joined by Bishop David Walkowiak, on Sunday, September 22, the parish community of Blessed John Paul II in Cedar Springs celebrated Mass with the Rite of Blessing of the Church and Altar. The property is the former home of Pioneer Christian Reformed Church. The first informational meeting for the new parish was held in May and under the leadership of Father Lam Le, the parish has been preparing the church over the last several weeks in anticipation of the Sept. 22 Mass. "I am in love with this new little church. God bless all the parishioners, workers, and volunteers," said Father Lam when all the preparations for the Mass were completed. (Photography by Eric Tank)

Please join us for a CSIS Statesmen's Forum, featuring Prof. Yannis Maniatis, the Greek Minister of Environment, Energy, and Climate Change, on the shifting energy dynamics in the Eastern Mediterranean and Europe. As Europe seeks to develop an Energy Union and to enhance its energy security and diversify its supply, recent energy discoveries in the Eastern Mediterranean could offer an alternative. Greece has taken considerable steps to explore its own energy resource base and develop its energy infrastructure to enhance its domestic energy security. What are the prospects for energy sector development in Greece and across the broader region? How can Greece contribute to the expansion of Europe's Southern Gas Corridor? What impacts will the recently-announced Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) have on Greece and the rest of Europe? In light of the current geopolitical tensions with Russia and instability in the Middle East, will regional political dynamics hinder resource exploration and development? Minister Maniatis will share his insights on these topical issues.

Join us for the next in F5's series of bike jaunts through Shanghai, stopping at conveniences stores for a cheeky beer and rolling on full of irish merriment.
If you've been on one before you'll know they're awesome. If you haven't; they're awesome. We start 2pm at Factory Five (876 Jiangsu Lu) and will ride until sundown or so.
This year the Boxing Cat have kindly offered to put a green-beer pump streetside so we'll be stopping there for a cheap drink... as well as a basically random string of convenience stores at which we'll be pausing for drinks and music and mirth.
Bring your bike, some pocket change and smiley faces. All are welcome regardless of what you ride as long as you're in full control and it's self-propelled. We love helmets; safety never takes a holiday so bring it along too.
Joining the club - my #2015bestnine featuring my garden, some art, some craft, some house painting, some cooking, some nature and some family. Funny about that! No ceramics though, must fix that next year!
