One of my favorite 'dark rides' of this park is this simulator attraction located in the area Streets of New York; Time Riders. The pre show is very well themed to get into the mood of the experiment of inventor Horace Garrison to travel back in time.

Time Riders

Time Rider (previously Batman Adventure) is a simulator in the German theme park Movie Park Germany and is in the theme area Streets of New York.

The attraction opened in 2005 consists of three parts. Two pre-shows and a main show. The main show is a ride in a simulator, in which the illusion is created that visitors sit in a time machine and fly among other dinosaurs.

In total there are eight simulators within the attraction. There is room for up to twenty people per simulator. This theoretically means a capacity of 970 persons per hour.

The story behind this attraction is that inventor Horace Garrison invented a time machine and wants to test it on his visitors. This is what the inventor tells the audience. Horaace Garrison is performed by the actor John Cleese.

Fawlty Towers was famously inspired by a rude hotel proprietor called Donald Sinclair who John Cleese encountered whilst away filming with the Monty Python team . The Monty Python cast met the Sinclairs while staying at the Gleneagles Hotel in May 1970 ; they were filming in nearby Paignton . Donald Sinclair was reluctant for them to stay , but his wife argued in favour of them , as the Monty Python cast's three week stay in the hotel represented a considerable amount of business during the hotel's off-season . Due to Sinclair's attitude towards them , which included criticizing American Terry Gilliam's table etiquette and throwing Eric Idle's briefcase out of a window because he thought it contained a bomb , all of the Monty Python cast left the hotel for other accommodation apart from John Cleese and Eric Idle. Cleese stayed because he wanted to observe Sinclair further and later used some of Sinclair's mannerisms . Unwittingly, Donald Sinclair became the blueprint for Basil Fawlty, the epitome of the frustrated, social climbing middle-Englander .

The setting was a pretty ordinary 'hotel' in Torquay , with Fawlty constantly struggling to inject a touch of class into his tawdry surroundings .

Basil was the perfect vehicle for Cleese's comic talents : mixing the biting verbal tirades against his wife and guests with the physical dexterity utilised to charge about between self-induced disasters .

Prunella Scales , as Sybil , was also magnificent : nonchalantly gorging on chocolates in bed , gossiping into the phone to her friend Audrey and spitting the word "Basil" out as if it were venom .

Part of the success of the show can be attributable to the fact that it ran for a mere twelve episodes , so never ran out of steam .

The location of the building used for the outside shots was the Wooburn Grange Country Club in Bourne End , Buckinghamshire. After a fire in 1991 , developers quickly turned the site into 8 homes . In 'The Kipper & The Corpse' an error occurred at the end of the episode when a laundry truck leaves Fawlty Towers and a large entry sign can be seen which reads "Wooburn Grange Country Club" !

John Cleese of Monty Python and "A fish called Wanda" fame is probably the most important comedian, author and actor in the field of intelligent entertainment, that GB gave the world in the last 83 years. Nevertheless I passed the chance to see him. It would have been my only time and I hate to see old stars repeat their repertoire for the 5000th time.

Today, 7/20/14, is the final performance of Monty Python at the O2 Live in London and their last performance as a troupe. I was so fortunate to be able to attend opening night in London and fulfill a bucket list item that I've had since I was a young lad. Getting to meet them after the show was a bonus.

And now for something completely different (John Cleese when introducing the next Monty Python sketch) On the 3rd June 1965, John Lennon took delivery of a black Rolls Royce Phantom V, in typical rock star fashion he had the interior bespoke to his own requirements featuring television, telephone fridge and a custom sound system to name a few of the features. In April 1967, he sent the Phantom to the Surrey coachbuilder J.P. Fallon to have a new paint job. The new psychedelic paint job was revealed a few days before the worldwide release of the new Beatles' album Sgt Pepper's on 1st June 1967. John Lennon also owned a white Phantom V.

This sweet poster arrived this morning, which commemorates the annual "Crazy For Cult" art show at Gallery 1988 in LA. Mike Mitchell did a great job in capturing the likenesses of all of the characters & put them into a clever context.

Classic British comedy troupe Monty Python returned to the stage one “last” time (or ten, as the case may be) for a final farewell to the surreal comedy gold sketches first made famous in the 1970’s and 80’s.

The remaining original line-up of John Cleese, Terry Jones, Michael Palin, Eric Idle and Terry Gilliam all returned for the series of shows at East London’s O2 Arena playing out famous sketches, including Dead Parrot, The Lumberjack Song, Spam and The Spanish Inquisition as well as famous songs including show closer Always Look on the Bright Side if Life.

While a familiarity with the classic material would have heightened the show to an unparalleled level, a good time was had by all as classic original sketches and animations were shown on screen in-between the live acts.

The Monty Python boys were joined on stage by “the seventh Python” and former Miss California Carol Cleveland. While various special guests will join the show over it’s run, tonight’s guest was Mighty Boosh star Noel Fielding.

John Cleese as Basil Fawlty & Andrew Sachs as Manuel. Andrew Sachs was seriously injured twice while filming the 12 episodes, once by John Cleese hitting him in the head with a real cast iron skillet instead of the rubber one he meant to use.

Headlining the Just For Laughs Festival (along with Bill Cosby, Lewis Black, Martin Short, Whoopi Goldberg, Russell Peters, Jim Gaffigan) , John Cleese hosted the All-Star Galas in Montreal.

Due to illness, John had to cancel his first appearance and was replaced by Lewis Black (who did a brilliant job). The Festival authorities was kind enought to give those attendiees free tickets to the another John Cleese show.

So apparently, I'll be soon on 'Comedy Central', with my 1 second of fame - in the TV audience. The video camera kept flying over my head. Now I know how 'Video killed the radio star'.

So for this week I thought i'd post a selection of photos from Tate Britain gallery in London.

To start with a humourous shot. I was composing this shot when this chap suddenly decided to do a funny 'John Cleese' style walk. Suited the title of the gallery perfectly.

One of my favorite 'dark rides' of this park is this simulator attraction located in the area Streets of New York; Time Riders.

Time Riders

Time Rider (previously Batman Adventure) is a simulator in the German theme park Movie Park Germany and is in the theme area Streets of New York.

The attraction opened in 2005 consists of three parts. Two pre-shows and a main show. The main show is a ride in a simulator, in which the illusion is created that visitors sit in a time machine and fly among other dinosaurs.

In total there are eight simulators within the attraction. There is room for up to twenty people per simulator. This theoretically means a capacity of 970 persons per hour.

The story behind this attraction is that inventor Horace Garrison invented a time machine and wants to test it on his visitors. This is what the inventor tells the audience. Horaace Garrison is performed by the actor John Cleese.
