Thank You.

These Toms are an early birthday present from Marzena. Yesterday she arrived at my house (complete with a Spongebob Squarepants balloon, my favourite Vanilla Milk and Caramel Shortbread and Vanilla Flavoured Syrup from Starbucks) after telling me she was going for a haircut and could only meet me later on in the day. She knew this would make me angry and that's why she did it Haha About 20 minutes before, I had to make a phone call about a job and I found that I could only have an interview later yesterday afternoon. So unfortunately, our fun day was partially spoilt because I was interviewed at 1500. Thankfully, I got the job and I start on Monday. After my interview we went back to Manchester and Marzena bought me a pair of Toms (her new favourite obsession!) and then ingredients for my favourite meal, Carbonara which she made me for tea, sorry: dinner. We watched Outnumbered which was hilarious. Then I found out that I had to cancel my night out tonight because a lot of people had bailed on me for numerous different reasons. Instead, we are going to stay at home and have Chinese takeaway! Marzena let me call de Duizendpoot (mistakenly telling me that she had free minutes to America, liar!) who cheered me up and put a smile on my face, and we will celebrate in Holland in August which I am sure will be awesome. Ik ben overenthousiast. This morning I received a card from her lovely lovely self from "Amsterdam, NL", I'm not really sure how that's worked but it was a brilliant surprise and my wonderful week continues.

how you feel when you are at a job interview?

Job seekers are eager for getting a good job, but they rarely stop to figure out why they still have a good one, do they? So, now is the time to think why "we" still don't have a good job. There are three questions you should ask yourself.

What do I really want to do and want to be?

What can I do for this company and will this company give me exactly things I want?

Can what do I want to be equivalent with what I can do?

In fact, before job interview, the candidates should first of all figure out "what do I really want and who I really am. That can be called self-positioning. Generally, most of us will spend the most part of our life on working, which has a great impact on our life, physically and spiritually. Therefore, to find out "what do I want" is the most important thing for now, and you From this point of view, the salary should not be your most concern while looking for a job, particularly, your first job. If don't know yourself, you will always be the follower, following what is said to be the best.

After positioning, you then ask yourself why you apply for a job in this company, not other companies instead, and what can you contribute for this company. Actually, this is what interviewer concerns most. In addition, you imagine that will this company give you exactly things you want.

Lastly, can what do I want to be equivalent with what I can do, or rather, demand meet supply? As for the employers, they love people can give more to the company than what they ask for. As for the job seekers, they need to think carefully and then make a choice.

The first one I want to say is the dressing. You should remember that never dress casually. According to the psychology, the first impression will always generate a permanent effect. So a good interviewee should know how to leave a good impression on the interviewers so that they will hire you out of so many competitors finally.

I am off to face yet another job interview for a job I don't want.

(also- this photo looks completely different than what I am looking at. I have previewed it in a few different programs, have tried saving it elsewhere and no matter what when I upload it to flickr it looks like this. My hair is more red than that... this makes no sense)

I didn't get the job, but that interview went well...

For some reason, Starbucks is a popular spot to conduct job interviews. Very private and professional.

Business on top, party on bottom. The miracle of Skype video calls.

The job interview went ok - on the plus side, I was the only French speaking candidate they had (useful as they're often in contact with scientists in the Congo for gorilla reintroduction projects and have a fair few documents in French to deal with), on the minus side, I would need to move to Kent and buy a car as the park is quite remote.

Why Body language?

More than 90% of our communication is conveyed by non-verbal means. Body language is the main factor in such communication. This is an ancient form of interaction that is even more evident in the animal world. The non-verbal messages are mostly perceived in our unconsciousness leading us to a hunch or a feeling regarding a person or a situation: “I don’t like him, I can feel he is lying” or on the positive side, “I immediately felt connected to her”.

Body language can be used to improve your negotiation skills, your presentation ability and in different social interactions, including a romantic date.

If it is a natural form of communication, why do I need to learn it?

Only a small percentage of the population perceive the non-verbal signs at the consciousness level and can use body language as a tool to “read” others and to present themselves and their messages in a reliable way. These people can create empathy, detect lies within seconds, and feel immediately when it’s the right time to close a deal. Others can learn it; many politicians practice body language techniques and use personal training for these purposes. Similarly, police and security experts are trained to understand body language as a tool to detect lies. In the corporate world, body language interpretation is a key tool in the interview and hiring process of new employees. Some companies even have a body language expert present during interviews and as part of a negotiation team for large-scale deals.

Why cards?

Mastering the secrets of the body language might be complicated. Body Language is a visual mode of communication- you cannot learn it just from reading- you need to see it. Body Language Cards do just that; they flood your consciousness with the visual gesture and connect it to its meaning.

Most important: It works!!!

Body Language Cards are used as an integral part on professional body language courses; they are practiced as an educational devise in corporations; Body Language Cards are even used in psychology courses in colleges all over the world as they were recently translated in 4 additional languages

We will be Your hands we will be Your feet

We will run this race for the least of these

In the darkest place we will be Your light

We will be Your light

We sing

So now I have realized that I have some rather sickly looking feet. =D It's so gross! ack! Oh and yea those are chocolate flavored cereal pieces..yum! So yea the inspiration for this picture came from the song "solution" by Hillsong United. Hey it's a great song and Joel Houston does it OH, so well. The Lyrics are rather meaningful as well which is totally awesome.

OK, so I just got up from a rather newsey video shoot and am rather happy that it went well plus I got to play multiple characters which was rather weird but fun and hopefully funny. ;) indoor football is fun as well except for when it hits the spotlights. OUCH! yea my kicks are getting better..heh So I just got off the phone with a job interview with the Bank and I am like freaking out cause I might actually get this job! Ha! and yea I am so so nervous. My interview is on Monday and my Dentist appointment is on Monday and I am getting my computer test registration on Monday. I feel...um pressure. but it's great that I got this job interview and I'm gonna make my teeth shiny *sparkle sparkle* =D Hopefully all goes well yea? so HELP me God!

Friday morning, I was looking for strangers. Got a pretty bad start with three strangers declining to be photographed; one of them was a lady garbageman driving a big truck. I was about to give up when I saw Rachel and quickly approached her.

Rachel's inital reaction was – doubt. After explaining my 100 strangers project she asked what would happen if she declined. Then I'm not gonna take your picture, of course, I answered - nothing's gonna happen but I'd be disappointed.

She chose to reject.

I gave her a card and told her she could look up my other photos and see what it would have been like had she agreed to the photo. I started a last try and said, come on, it's only a photo and this isn't even gonna take a minute.

She asked me what I did for a living and wondered why I didn't work right now. I explained that I enjoyed flexible working hours and just thought this was a nice friday morning to look for a stranger for my project.

But, she objected, why me, I know I'm not pretty. Of course you are, I disagreed, I think you'd fit my project and, what's more, you haven't seen how I do my portraits yet. What about my coffee, she said. Your coffee's good, I replied, just keep it in your hand.

Finally, she agreed.

Rachel is from Malaysia. She finished her studies here in Germany and was right on her way to a job interview at an engineering office.

Thank you, Rachel, for participating in my project. You certainly made my day! If you don't mind, please drop me an email and tell me how your job interview went!

Today was one of those days where no matter how hard thesis is, no matter how much I am ready to graduate, or how frustrating the pile of homework I have is, I remember that I have a badass, amazing group of people in my corner.

I had a job interview today for a job I *really* want after graduation, and last night my friend Steph decided many people should tweetbomb the company reasons they should hire me right as I went in for my interview.

And they did. It's one of the most awesome things that's happened to me on twitter.

After the interview, I went and hung out with reedie economics majors to celebrate the juniors who just took their junior qualifying exams. I *never* hang out with Reedies in a "partying" way, but this was fun. And reminded me just how smart and thoughtful most Reedies are.

Especially the economics majors ;)
