So, say you have a electrical gang-box that needs upgrading, located behind some wooden panelling that ends about 10 inches below the box with no obstructions. Do you:

a) Remove the old box, slightly enlarge the wall opening to accomodate the dimensions of the new box, and push a new flush-mounted box into the panelling in the place where you want to install it, snaking the wiring up under the panelling to the box?

or

b) Say, "Screw that", and simply take a Sawz-All to the (original, probably irreplacable) panelling so that now there's all the space in the world to install a stud-mounted box?

Guess which option my electrical contractors chose?

The really annoying thing is that a different crew on Monday installed a brand new double gang-box outlet in the wall under my computer table, having to cut a new hole for it through the exact same type of panelling and run wire from under the subfloor, and they did an awesome job. In a place where no one's likely to notice it. As opposed to this box, which is in the most visually-prominent spot in the kitchen.

Grr. So if you were me, what would you be demanding from the contractor right now?

- Repair? I don't know if it can be repaired without looking like an obvious patch - and besides, the section they took out is unusable and I don't know if it's possible to find matching replacement panelling (this stuff's 50 years old).

- Ask for a discount - which does nothing to fix the cosmetic problem? Or get a quote from a remodelling contractor and ask that the electrician pay for it?

- Have the Corian countertop backsplash run high enough to cover the damage? That would probably look silly.

I'm stumped. Suggestions?

Dance pictures in the Salt Lake Masonic Temple. limited budget, so I bought the 23w compact fluorescent bulbs from the local Home improvement store. (120w equiv) They were about $8 each. it would have been better if I had 250w equiv or 300w equiv. I would have used the umbrellas and reflectors. I know studio strobes would have been even better but it was nice to always have the lights on and it didn't get hot...... ;) The drape background was out of a bedroom that was being remodeled on the pretense that they weren't going to be returned... the Ugly guy?? Well he was cheap too ....

Students from Croydon College will be signing for top London football teams thanks to a groundbreaking business deal with six of the capital's clubs.

A total of 60 new coaching jobs are being created for 18 to 24-year-olds at Tottenham Hotspur, Fulham, West Ham, Arsenal, Charlton Athletic and Brentford as part of the Government's Future Jobs scheme.

As part of the 'Future Jobs' scheme, they will be employed for 6 months and given training and work experience as well as receiving a salary.

Successful applicants for these jobs will work as Coaches within the Clubs' Community Trusts. At the end of 6 months, all the clubs have committed to offering permanent employment for at least 50% of the young people under this scheme who will then undertake a full apprenticeship programme which will be delivered by Croydon College.

The partnership has been endorsed by the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur Foundation as the lead partner for the clubs.

Filler primer applied. This primer has aluminium flake mixed into it where hot spots occur (eg. above the catalytic converters) to spread the heat and reduce its localised intensity. The next stage is to flatten it all back again and then to apply a black epoxy primer a basecoat for the colour.
