I was so bummed that Jetlag Palm didn't end up playing, but Jude's amazing solo set made up for it. I've been playing the heck out of their four-song demo since I discovered it at KUGS in May, but I had never seen them live or met anyone in the band... With a pop scene as small as Bellingham's, this is a bit of a rarity.
I highly recommend checking out Jetlag Palm's My Space page.
Anyway, Jude played a rad set. He clearly knows what he's doing up there. Very confident. Good arrangements, guitar tone, singing, etc. Erika and I speculated which songs would be the hits as he played through a bunch of new/unreleased material.
Jetlag woke me up around 3am the morning after we arrived, and Rick was awake not long after, so eventually I dragged him out on a photo expedition down the street.
Jetlagged in Civic Centre Park. We got shooed off the grass shortly after, but at least we got coffee!

Is this hotel welcome platter going to be part of my breakfast, lunch or dinner?
Here is a terrible but accurate picture of me at the end of that first day at the school. I had never been so seriously jet-lagged, and it took me over a week to get over it. I felt exhausted during the day and then at night I couldn’t sleep. It wasn’t very fun but my family’s dog, Barney, kept me company. In this picture it isn’t down but every night we had to have mosquito nets around our beds to keep malaria-carrying mosquitoes from biting us. Prior to going I hadn’t known that that type of mosquito is mostly only out at night. I was grateful that I didn’t get malaria but the nets were much more annoying than they seemed initially, because they would get loose and hang over your face. Quite a claustrophobic feeling!
