David, my son is an expert in isolation. He's autistic and has been self isolating since birth. Life is good though as he's watching 'The Lion King' for the zillionth time.
Isolation bunker with registration desk, medical check-up and torturing cells on the former Dachau Concentration Camp close to the city of München in the south of Germany.
I found an abandoned train down the road from where I used to live. I would have ventured farther in, but the floor was collapsing so I thought I'd play it safe and take a shot in the last train car that I could walk through. This shot ended up being one of my favorite of the bunch of photos taken during that trip.

While wondering around aimlessly Downtown in search of a story I found myself in an alley. As I approach the other side I start to see a woman sitting down. From my perspective she was tucked away so I made sure to get her at more of an angle. She was really engaged to whatever was happening on her phone because I took many pictures without her noticing. If this were not street photography I would have gotten on my knee and would have placed the background more strategically. However I was on the move so I wanted to take this photo fast. The background really gives this photo more of a story. She is obviously a lady on a smoke break of sorts on her phone. Without the context of the street in the background the viewer would not know that she has tucked herself in this isolated area. With that added feature this photo becomes very visually appealing. I was really happy to come home to see that this photo turned out how I hoped it to.
No matter how often I look at this picture – I cannot figure out the purpose of this isolation chamber that looks like a phone booth without phone – but some strange equipment mounted on the wall… Together with the electric bathtub just across the hall it looks not too “wellness” to me…
Besides being alone and human contact is very minimal, there's the fact that I'm sick with further isolates me. In turn all of this has taken a huge toll on my overall health and wellness, most importantly my mental health.
We've made everything, absolutely everything, about Covid and have not truly considered the consequence of folks already dealing with pre-existing conditions.
Being alone is when my mind just goes wild. If I'm in any pain from my Sickle Cell things can get bad quickly.
More and more I'm forgetting things like where I am, who I am and who my friends are. My pain crisis last longer and are more frequent.. I've never had anxiety before but it gets so bad I can't control my breathing. I get dizzy and often times I fall.
The stress of being sick and alone is truly getting to me.
today was a day I woke up, but was in s much pain. I sat in front of the window by my bed from 9AM until 11AM. Stuck, I really couldn't, then finally the uncontrollable coughing stop, main pain cleared just enough for me to walk to the bathroom and back to my bed. I drank from my jug of water by my bed my friend Allison replaced after walking my dogs. I know she was here cause I think we spoke. Her voice can be so calming at times. I finally got out of bed about 8pm. Still in lots of pain but this time I'll get to see my friend when she arrives to walk my dogs this evening.
This has been a pretty stressful week for me. I lost a very close friend of 35 years, I learned my ex has lost his best friend to a pool accident and my locs had been falling out but Monday I woke to a bunch of them on my pillow. To think I haven't even started chemotherapy yep.

On the steps of the Grand Arche at La Defense, this man was on his own listening to his IPod and looking down not paying attention to anything around him.
I had expected to find new adventures and what not when I moved into a big city. Yet, I find myself isolated in a tiny motel room.
Where to start? I suppose I just find excuses not to do things sometimes. I think it'll be different though. I feel a lot more outspoken. The lack of friends and a stable job makes me reach out more often. Things will get better though! No worries.
The only sidewalk connecting campus to the tiny, forgotten student housing complex I call home was impassable.
He tends to take things very literally and doesn't easily get jokes, exaggerated language or metaphors – he is often lonely and isolated. He has excellent language skills, speaks at a level much beyond his years and loves making literal puns. Adults love him – kids don’t.
