3-shot HDR of the isolation block, a set of primitive rooms with only a bit of daylight spilling in from above.
Isolation cells at the Constitution Hill Prison, Johannesburg. Prisoners could be confined in one of these for a month, or even longer.
The light switches are on the outside so that prison guards could turn the lights on at night and off during the day to further disorientate the prisoners.

I've been away for a little while; life's taken a few twists and turns which has made photography take a back seat.
I've not been out with the camera in months, but have trawled through the archives for photos in need of some work. This is an old shot from earlier in the year. This cottage is alone on a hillside above the beach between Llangennith and Rhossilli on the Gower. We went on a day trip earlier in the summer, a typical Welsh summer, which was misty and rainy. The mist on the hillside gave such a sense of depression and isolation. I've been in a bit of a black and white mood lately, literally and photographically, hence the monochrome of the last few uploads.
This shot is a homage to Major P who takes inspirational monochrome images.

I had a very nice Mother's Day and got to spend it with my wonderful family. As for my project, I was able to stop at a field on the Atlanta Highway in Montgomery and snap a few nature shots. Although I love doing this project, I did want to enjoy today with my family and especially Rylie. So, I fired off several shots of some crazy huge dandelions and this ladybug, who had plenty of his/her friends around. I know I[ve already posted a ladybug, but I really find this composition so dynamic and paired with the color isolation treatment, I just had to use this one. I cropped a little off the bottom left side, isolated only the reds and boosted their luminosity, and added some vignetting to emphasize depth. (all editing done in lr2) 1/250sec@f/5.6 ISO100 FL:50mm

Die Kontextloslösung oder Metonymie ist der erste Schritt zu einer objektiveren Gestaltung oder zu einer Desubjektivierung. Den ersten Ansatz lieferte Henry Fox Talbot. Er fotografierte ein durch Fenster von innen. Kamera machte Bild- nicht er. Die Kamera ist das Objekt, er ist nicht, wie früher die Maler, das Subjekt. = Loslösung von Handschrift des Künstlers/der Künstlerin. Somit bekräftigte sich seine Aussage, dass er Kunst machen konnte, ohne dass er im Mittelpunkt stand bzw. Subjekt der Kunst war. Früher hatten Die MalerInnen eine eigene Handschrift, Signatur, Pinselstrich oder anderes Merkmal, was er jedoch gekonnt durch die Arbeit auflöste.
Die objektivere Gestaltung ist ein Gewohnheitsbruch, weil der Geschmack überwunden wird. Dieser Bruch kann die Grundlage, um Neues zu entwickeln, sein. Denn: Wenn man nur nach seinem Geschmack oder in seiner Gewohnheit arbeitet, hängt man quasi fest, und kann nichts Neues entwickeln.
Durch die Loslösung vom, in dem Fall, Strommasten, erscheinen die Stromleitungen als Teil der Komposition und lassen d en/die BetrachterIn weiterdenken.

I didn’t see a soul today, I normally ride my bike and see 100’s of other people exercising, today I chose to paint something quick and simple and was probably “safer” than most.... Do your thing, just do it wisely ?
They say we're safer at home, but are we. What if this shelter in place means you're not stuck full time with your abuser? What happens if you depend on things like support groups to handle your recovery? What if you live alone. What if you live alone and you're sick. How bout depression? What if you have depression? What if all this isolation has caused you to develop depression.
We are humans and we need human contact to survive normally, if that's a such thing. When this is removed from long periods of time, what are the circumstances and why isn't anyone coming up with ways to effectively help folks cope with it. I don't mean simply prescribing medication which only numbs a person, not actually help a person. We will not be able to meditate our way out of this.

This marble is the isolation of the mind. It's feels as though it's alone in a dark place, having nothing except an infinite darkness of it's surroundings. The composition of the surroundings and the position of the marble itself makes the image and give it a feeling of loneliness.
Standing on cold and windy bridges is a thing of the past ... for now anyway .... and rightly so. So a little man-cave trainspotting at Dairybeck and Holcoates with a 60's flavour.
The final leg of my China journey as part of my December 2019 visit. After the incredible beauty of Mount Huangshan and the fascinating man-made tapestry of Xiapu (see other albums), it was off to the mystical Tianmen Mountain before making my way up into the mists for a visit to the "Avatar Mountains" Zhangjiajie.

My life feels so derailed and it's not getting better. I do lots of praying and lots of crying. Been burning so much sage the smell is in my hair.
I said to friends that I feel like I'm at a rodeo I'm not at all familiar with, after really I feel like I'm in a boxing match with the heavy weight champion of the world and I'm getting the shit beat out of me.
I feel like I've aged so much in a matter of days, shaved years off my life and I did everything right. I was adherent to care, never missed a dose of medication, unless I didn't have access to it and this time not having access to it could very well end my life or I'm going to have to deal with other medical things I've never dealt with before and have no history of in my family.
The only thing this has to do with Covid is that everything cannot be focused on it. Especially when millions are already battling other conditions.
