It Was A Dark (Non)Stormy Night ... - IMRAN™

(My 122nd Flickr Explore!)

It was a dark and non-stormy night. The clouds covered the moon and stars.

I turned off the lights outside the home on the pool deck. I wanted to check out how the two solar-powered LED lights I had placed to highlight the white waterfall.

Not a bad 2x$10 investment. Who knows how long they will last, but for now they looked good at my blessed home on Tampa Bay.

They are just in the process of trying to raise £90,000 to have their very special organ mended / renovated.

We met one bloke who is going to cycle to every St Paul’s church in the country to raise money for the organ. About 3000 miles. He has a just giving page.

We also met the chief bell ringer, and the church warden. They were meeting and greeting potential new vicars for their interviews today, four in total.

An interesting visit to this lovely church.

The swallow dome (lantern dome, tüteklikli) of the Erzurum Grand Mosque, dating to 1179, was built using the corbelling technique, in which square or nearly square, rectangular spaces are protected by an overhead covering that is built of pieces of wood (or stone) overlaid on top of each other diagonally, starting from the corners.

THE NEED OF BEING VERSED IN COUNTRY THINGS

Robert Frost

The house had gone to bring again

To the midnight sky a sunset glow.

Now the chimney was all of the house that stood,

Like a pistil after the petals go.

The barn opposed across the way,

That would have joined the house in flame

Had it been the will of the wind, was left

To bear forsaken the place’s name.

No more it opened with all one end

For teams that came by the stony road

To drum on the floor with scurrying hoofs

And brush the mow with the summer load.

The birds that came to it through the air

At broken windows flew out and in,

Their murmur more like the sigh we sigh

From too much dwelling on what has been.

Yet for them the lilac renewed its leaf,

And the aged elm, though touched with fire;

And the dry pump flung up an awkward arm;

And the fence post carried a strand of wire.

For them there was really nothing sad.

But though they rejoiced in the nest they kept,

One had to be versed in country things

Not to believe the phoebes wept.

Leading Lines - the rain was keeping many folks inside the shops or in cafes around Windsor, plus some going round the castle inside so avoiding the rain.

Shot is sadly slightly spoiled by the scaffolding but the Range Rover does improve the shot, plus the person with the umbrella right on the focal point of my leading line.

This road - Castle Hill, has become a timeless image in some respect as no double yellow lines in this area, but you will quickly get moved on if you try to stop here for very long!!

Late in the year, the fog can often be seen in the mornings in Solothurn.

Just some fallen leaves.

To see a butterfly already in February is unusual.

This morning I have mainly been concreting 💪

This is the base for a new shed that I’m going to start building, in a couple of weeks.

It took 3.5 tonnes of crusher run hardcore, and 3.2 cu M of concrete.

I had the concrete arrive by a system called ‘Barrow mix’, whereby the concrete arrives mixed and the barrow mix people wheelbarrow the concrete to the location, then we lay it… (I actually jumped on the wheelbarrow work too!)

They were due to arrive at 8.00 this morning, they arrived at 7.45 😀

My father in law and myself laid the concrete today, and we sorted the hardcore and damp proof membrane (DPM) yesterday .

Fingers crossed that it doesn’t rain !

Early Morning Playtime With Neo, My Brother's German Shepherd Puppy (360°x360° VR) - IMRAN™

(My 126th Flickr Explore!)

During my recent trip to Pakistan, I spent some time at my younger brother's home in the Sukh Chayn Gardens area of Lahore. This was the morning after our niece's wedding. It was relatively early in the morning, when I came out to play with his one year old very active German Shepherd puppy. I captured about 2 dozen pics with the iPhone and stitched them together in Lightroom for a quick panorama 360x360. You can see Neo doing his zoomies run in this action moment I captured him in.

Frankfurt Opera House with a minute long exposure time ensured that anyone crossing if front of me would vanish as long as they kept moving. iPhone ReeXpose App used.

But apart from the cyclist looking on his phone for guidance the foreground was empty, which is what I wanted. A couple of ghosts standing on the steps on the left hand side, adds to the mystery.
