The Gurney Stove, invented by Sir Goldsworthy Gurney which he patented in 1856, was extensively used to heat a wide variety of buildings. The stove's most interesting feature is the use of external ribs to increase the surface area of the stove available for heat transfer. A number of these stoves are still in use to this day, in the cathedrals of Ely, Durham, Chester, Hereford and Peterborough.

I walked in & found her sitting in her dresser drawer...it is a wonder why this piece of furniture broke...darn Ikea.
Here's a first proto of my electronic drum kit. You can see 4 of 8 possible front ends with 2 sensors attatched. The big chip is an Atmel AVR programmed up with a right clever little bit of code I invented. I've made the acquisition of hit levels completely in hardware so almost no delay between two drums. It actually samples the 8 inputs faster than MIDI can put out the notes so no delay when you hit two drums at once. Also has velocity sense. Hit harder, sounds louder.

Tenho 36 anos, moro em Porto Alegre e sou jornalista. Quando eu era piá, há muitos anos, no interior do Rio Grande do Sul, eu ia seguido na fazenda do meu tio. Lembro que meu programa preferido era ir até a criação de abelhas dele para pegar mel e chupar até o favo. Em um destes passeios, vi um homem coberto de abelhas, dos pés à cabeça, sem proteção nenhuma. Ele estava calmo, sem medo. Achei aquele homem todo coberto de abelhas uma cena pavorosa e ao mesmo tempo fascinante. Ele parecia ter saído de um filme de aventura, um homem destemido, poderoso, concentrado. Achei aquilo incrível, especialmente porque tenho alergia a picada de abelha, nunca poderia me expor tanto. Deve ser muito interessante passar horas só ouvindo aquele murmurinho, com concentração. As vozes de milhares de abelhas. Os problemas devem ficar miúdos, agente deve se sentir bem. Meu pedido é ter podido fazer como aquele homem quando eu era piá e ia passear no sítio: me coberto de abelhas para pegar mel.

Quando eu era criança sofri um acidente. Tive que ficar na cama por uma semana. Ficava só olhando, através da porta, o aquário que ficava no corredor. Não conseguia entender como aqueles peixes conseguiam viver em um espaço tão pequeno. Tinha pena. O mundo para mim, que era criança, era imenso. O mundo daqueles peixes me parecia minúsculo e entediante. Todo dia eu olhava estes peixes. Pensei que aquele quarto também era um aquário. Passei a descobrir cada fresta, cada textura, cada detalhe. Me dediquei à tarefa de alargar aquele quarto de hospital, fazer meu mundo ficar maior cada dia. Depois, quando tive alta, fiquei até triste. Os peixes tinham me ensinado a imensidão. Hoje tenho 55 anos. Estou doente e não posso mais andar. Queria voltar a ser peixe. Queria aquele prazer de quando eu tinha 8 anos e conseguia transformar o quarto em um mundo inteiro.

Penn State York celebrated the launch of Working Class, a makerspace partnership, to a crowd of more than 100 on Aug. 9 on the stage of the Pullo Family Performing Arts Center (The Pullo Center) at Penn State York. The winners of the 2016–17 Start-Up Challenge, a business pitch competition for students, were also recognized during this celebration of entrepreneurship, leadership, partnerships, and innovation. These projects received $50,000 seed grant funding from Invent Penn State, an economic development initiative across the Commonwealth. Penn State President Eric Barron, Penn State York officials and Erin Casey, co-founder and board member of Working Class, took part in the ceremony.
