アーティストルーム”野菜”を担当した中村眞弥子と、彼女も所属するオランダを拠点に抽象絵画を 探究するアーティストグループ "The Act Of Painting"の 日本での2回目の巡回展です。”直感"を テーマとした作品を発表いたします。
*The Act of Painting "絵画と行為"(TAOP)は、世界を巡り展覧会を開催しながら活発に活動 する国際的なアーティスト集団です。 TAOPは展覧会ごとに、都市の特徴を踏まえた関係性を模 索しています。各地のアーティスト、思想家、科学者、キュレーターの方々と交流をしながら 抽 象絵画について考えます。 TAOPのメンバー構成は絶えず変化していますが、わたしたちにとって重要な要素は、直感的な制 作過程と作業方法です。その制作は、アーティストの魂である個人の意識と密接に関連しています。 TAOPのもうひとつの重要な活動目的は、抽象絵画の意味の探求です。展覧会では、現在の抽象画 について 毎回異なる視点から調査・探求したいと考えています。 (主催者:レイモンド・ケホパーズ)

The Act Of Painting- 現代絵画の可能性を追求するわたしたちの活動にとって "直感"は とても重 要なものだ。わたしたちは無意識を可視化することに関心を持っている。絵画を制作する過程で、 無意識から生み出される”直感”は、思考の遥か前からはじまっている。身体意識の延長として筆を 用い、絵を描く者は絵画の中で自己の存在を再確認する。美術家は、自ら創り出す空間の一部と なると同時にそれを観察し、自身の行為について考え、評価している。よって、生み出される作品 はつくり手の個人的な意識に限りなく結びついている。作品には表現者それぞれの感性により、 身体性や構築性が強く現れてくる。
今回発表する紙作品には 無意識を反映した抽象的な概念が 挿入、適応、具体化されている。紙に 描いた作品は、美術家の個人的な記録、記念碑的な作品のための日記や習作として鑑賞すること もできる。それらの作品は 直感的思考そのものであり、変化しながら追求される掴みどころのな いイメージでもある。更なる実験の余地があり、例えば油彩画と比較すると柔軟性を帯びている。 この柔らかさ故に、作品には”直感"が反映されている。

この度、ギャラリー枝香庵 Flatにて オランダを拠点とした
The Act of Painting "絵画と行為"(TAOP) の日本での2回目となる展覧会
"The Act Of Painting INTUITION (Works on paper)" を開催させていただく運びとなりました。
TAOPは、抽象絵画の意味を探求しながら、世界を巡り活動する国際的なアーティスト集団です。
今回のテーマは "直感"と"紙の作品"
みなさまとご一緒に抽象絵画について考える機会になりましたら幸いです。

We are pleased to announce the exhibition "The Act of Painting “Intuition” (Works on Paper)" at Gallery Echo-Ann (Flat) Ginza Tokyo. It is the second traveling exhibition in Japan by the artist collective, "The Act Of Painting" (TAOP) based in the Netherlands.
TAOP is an international artist collective that travels around the world in search of the meaning of abstract paintings. Their theme for the traveling exhibition in Japan this year is "intuition" reflected on works on paper.
We hope this will be an opportunity for you to feel/think about abstract paintings.

The Act of Painting, Intuition (works on paper)
Intuition covers a great deal of what The Act of Painting collective's exhibitions and projects are about. Selected artists are concerned with making visible the unconscious. In the process of painting, the act itself is often hundredths of a second ahead of the thought. With the brush as an extension of the body's awareness, practitioners create a painterly environment in which their own presence is essential. They are part of the space they are creating and are simultaneously observing, appraising and considering their actions. Thus the works they create are closely related to their personal consciousness. Depending on existential differences the works may have a gestural appearance or a more constructed figure.
In these works on paper the abstract notion of the unconscious is being inserted into the image, adapted, materialized. The works on paper can be seen as personal notes of the artists, journals, studies for large-scaled monumental works. They are thoughts, volatile, searching, non-fixed images. There is room for experiment, the works are less loaded than an oil painting for instance. The lightness provides the brain an opportunity to manifest itself in a more intuitive way.
In this series of exhibitions, starting in Tokyo at Gallery Echo-Ann and continuing at Park Hotel Tokyo, and Takarazuka Arts Center the artist's collective The Act of Painting establishes itself as an international platform for abstract artists. Furthermore, the collective explores new ways of approaching painting. By inviting Japanese artists to participate in the shows, The Act of Painting is merging the eastern vision with the European notion of intuitive painting. The fusion can prove to be a fertile ground for further development in defining intuition.

Intuition Summer Festival 2009. Het was weer een topfeest. Hemelse trance onder een strak blauwe hemel. Jammer dat het geluid in de buitenarea niet echt top was. Binnen was het net een dampende sauna 's avonds. Dat bleek wel want alle lenzen besloegen, waardoor het focussen binnen lastig was. Al met al toch nog een aardig setje, dat de sfeer van de dag goed weergeeft. Beleef die topdag en jullie party-momenten nu nog één keer opniew, door de slideshow te draaien. Thx. again Paul voor de leuke foto's! En Menno en Alda, respect! Jullie zijn er weer ingeslaagd om een topfeest neer te zetten. Pachtige line-up met de beste trance van het moment! Klasse! En last but not least, thx. to all nice partypeople and dj's for the nice photo-opportunities. Het was weer fun om jullie allemaal ontmoet te hebben :) Vooral de mini-after in de camper van Anja was erg gezellig :) Leuk om nog even door te gaan tot 03.00 uur op de parkeerplaats. Thx. Have you ever trusted your intuitions? Sometimes trusting your intuitions can prove to be the right decision. A lot of people have shared their experiences of trusting their “sixth sense” which proved to be the right decision for them. A lady once reported that she had to go to out with her husband for the long weekend to some distant island. They had booked their tickets and were ready to leave. The lady said that she was feeling nauseous and she felt like something signed her not to go. It was her sixth sense or her intuitions that told her to stay but she did not herself believe in these signs. The next morning when she woke up she was feeling sick and therefore they canceled their plan. One of the lady’s friends suggested that he could go in their place with his wife and they all agreed. The next morning news arrived that the boat which was ferrying to the island drowned in the sea, the same boat which was carrying that couple.

This was taken with the new Nikon 50mm f/1.8!! Because my Canon 50mm f/1.4 was broken in the accident and I liked the build of the Nikon 50mm f/1.8.
This shot was deliberately underexposed as a 3 exposure bracket for HDR, but I liked the underexposed version by itself.

The Act Of Painting- 現代絵画の可能性を追求するわたしたちの活動にとって "直感"は とても重 要なものだ。わたしたちは無意識を可視化することに関心を持っている。絵画を制作する過程で、 無意識から生み出される”直感”は、思考の遥か前からはじまっている。身体意識の延長として筆を 用い、絵を描く者は絵画の中で自己の存在を再確認する。美術家は、自ら創り出す空間の一部と なると同時にそれを観察し、自身の行為について考え、評価している。よって、生み出される作品 はつくり手の個人的な意識に限りなく結びついている。作品には表現者それぞれの感性により、 身体性や構築性が強く現れてくる。
今回発表する紙作品には 無意識を反映した抽象的な概念が 挿入、適応、具体化されている。紙に 描いた作品は、美術家の個人的な記録、記念碑的な作品のための日記や習作として鑑賞すること もできる。それらの作品は 直感的思考そのものであり、変化しながら追求される掴みどころのな いイメージでもある。更なる実験の余地があり、例えば油彩画と比較すると柔軟性を帯びている。 この柔らかさ故に、作品には”直感"が反映されている。

§ The main western gopura of the third gallery resolves itself into an elevated square plan of pillared halls with two diametrical corridors—one on the longitudinal axis—crossing each other at the center to create four open courtyards, one on each quadrant • When observed inwardly from this viewpoint, we were imposed to the aesthetic impact of the corridors which responses directly to the hints of its spatial constraint • Our perception forced our physical activity to approach straight forwardly to the open door and staircase far ahead • It is a limited liberty of movement to the volume of non-physical enclosure that affected in our consciousness • But as we walked through the corridor, our emotive reaction to the associated space of the courtyards that bandage around us stipulated our intuition to the hint of the exterior space and the adjoining volumes • The architect succeeded in creating a linkage of real and imaginative space by extending our bodily movement that satisfied our aesthetic experience • It is a discerning synchronicity of ‘inside’ and ‘outside’ space which we construe it as ‘the architectural space’ •
§ Nevertheless, the anomalous height of the ceiling above the corridors—enthused with reliefs of myths and divinities—creates a separative space imitating the celestial night sky above us • As a pragmatic being which concerns ourselves with earthly plain horizontal space that we normally move, this spacious space—in accordance with impression to its vertical scale—is deliberately contrived to be a state of ‘preconceived contemplation’ in our intuition •

This special event brings together artists and curators from the "Intuition and Ingenuity" touring exhibition to discuss the impact of Alan Turing's life and ideas on contemporary art.
2012 is the 100th anniversary of the birth of Alan Turing, one of the greatest minds Britain has ever produced. Between inventing the digital computer and helping to decode the German Enigma machine, to founding the science of Artificial Intelligence, the world today would have been a very different place without him and his ideas. His work on morphogenesis (the biological processes that cause organisms to grow in a particular shapes) and the now famous Turing Test for machine intelligence have captured the imagination of artists for decades whilst his technological developments have given them the tools to create new kinds of artworks. This exhibition, which takes its name from Turing's own writing on the subject of mathematical reasoning, brings together a number of important artists from digital art pioneers to emerging contemporaries.

Sue Gollifer
Sue Gollifer is an artist an academic and a researcher at the University of Brighton, UK, and an early pioneer of new media art, her work is in national and international public and private collections. She is the Director of the ISEA International Headquarters, and is on a number of National and International Committees, including (CAS) the Computer Arts Society, (DAM), Digital Art Museum, (CAA) College Arts Association, USA, Executive Board and the Vice President for Annual Conference, and CoLab, AUT University, New Zealand and SIGRAPH Art Gallery, Emerging Technologies and Computer Animation Festival review committees and a member of the Board of the ACM SIGGRAPH's DIGITAL ARTS COMMUNITY (DAC). She has been a curator of a number of International Digital Art Exhibitions including, ArCade, the UK Open International Biennale Exhibition, of Digital Fine Art Prints 1995 - 2007 and the SIGGRAPH Art Gallery Exhibition'04: Synaesthesia. In 2006 she was awarded an iDMAa Award, The International Digital Media Arts Award for her 'Exceptional Services to the International New Media Community'. Anna Dumitriu
Anna Dumitriu is an artist whose work blurs the boundaries between art and science. Her work has a strong international exhibition profile and is held in several major public collections, including the Science Museum in London. She is currently working on a Wellcome Trust funded art project entitled "Communicating Bacteria", collaborating as a Visiting Research Fellow: Artist in Residence with the Adaptive Systems Research Group at The University of Hertfordshire (focussing on social robotics) and Leverhulme Trust Artist in Residence on the on the UK Clinical Research Consortium Project "Modernising Medical Microbiology". She is also a contributing editor to Leonardo Electronic Almanac, co-chair of the Alan Turing Year 2012 Arts and Culture Subcommittee and a member of the Alan Turing Year 2012 International Advisory Committee. Alex May
Alex May works with light emitting technologies, computer programming, math, power tools, and physical objects as a canvas to create hybrid collisions of images and unexpected context. Developing his own software to combine 17th Century scientific theories of perspective and projective geometry with the real-time possibilities of readily available technologies such as high power graphics cards, Arduino, and Microsoft's Kinect, Alex's work uncovers and explores new artistic mediums that offer joyful extensions of the human experiences at best, and darkly invasive and upsetting self-reflection as its shadow.
Gordana Novakovic
Originally a painter, with 12 solo exhibitions to her credit, Gordana has more than twenty years' experience of developing and exhibiting large-scale time-based media projects. Her artistic practise and theoretical work that intersects art, science and advanced digital technologies has formed five Cycles: Parallel Worlds, The Shirt of a Happy Man, Infonoise and the ongoing Fugue. A constant mark of her work throughout her experiments with new technologies has been her distinctive method of creating an effective cross-disciplinary framework for the emergence of synergy through collaboration. Gordana exhibited and lectured at leading interdisciplinary festivals and symposia, and artistic and scientific conferences. Her works from the ongoing Fugue Cycle (www.fugueart.com) has been widely presented and exhibited. Alongside her artistic practice, in the last six years Gordana has been artist-in-residence and also a Teaching Fellow at Computer Science Department, University College London, where she has founded and curates the Tesla Art and Science Group www-typo3.cs.ucl.ac.uk/research/tesla/. Ernest Edmonds
Ernest Edmonds was born in London in 1942. He has a PhD in logic and has been inspired by Alan Turing throughout his career. He is a research professor at UTS, Sydney, and DMU, Leicester. His art is in the constructivist tradition and he concentrates on systems and computation. He first used computers in his art practice in 1968. He first showed a generative time-based work in 1985. What do you do after striking gold with your first solo album, wrapping your third season starring in a hit series and earning raves for your movie debut? If you're Selena Gomez, you dance. At least, you get the world on its feet with "A Year Without Rain." A follow-up to "Kiss & Tell," Selena’s gold-certified Hollywood Records debut CD, "A Year Without Rain" shows Selena and her band, The Scene, in a whole new light, this one pulsating, multicolored and ready for the mirrored ball.
"I really wanted something that felt good to perform, but had a techno/dance vibe," Selena says. "I wanted something that had meaning and melody, and more empowering lyrics." That’s exactly what she delivers in "A Year Without Rain." Working with top producer/songwriters like Tim James & Antonina Armato, Kevin Rudolf, Toby Gad and Jonas Jeberg, Selena kept to a more quickened tempo, exploring themes of love, freedom and the joy of living for the moment.
Selena credits the album’s neo-techno leanings to her 2010 platinum-certified single, ‘Naturally," which pointed the way for her. That track "really helped me figure out where I want to be," she says. "There’s a feeling when I perform that song that I love, so when I was going back in the studio, I had a better understanding of where I wanted to be musically."
She gets right to it with the opening track, "Round & Round," an upbeat synth-driven song about reaching the limits of indecision in love. The plaintive "A Year Without Rain" may be more subdued, but its beauty impressed Selena enough to make it the title track. "When I got the song, I went through the roof," she recalls. "Everybody has that one person they can’t live without. It was exactly what I wanted to say." That goes double for the Spanish version of the song, Selena’s first recording in that language.
Having turned 18 this year, Selena has matured since making her professional debut at age 7, but girls still wanna have fun, which is what songs like "Spotlight" "Off the Chain" and "Summer’s Not Hot" are all about. "Rock God" features none other than Katy Perry on backing vocals, while "Intuition" boasts a duet between Selena and rapper Eric Bellinger in a tricked-out double-time salute to a positive attitude.
Selena slows things down on "Ghost of You," a ravishing ballad about a breakup so rough, no amount of "living crazy loud" can crush the memory. "It’s very beautiful, very raw," Selena says of the song. "Shelly Peiken co-wrote it. She knows me, knows about everything I go through, and knows how to express it in a beautiful way."
On the flip side, Selena comes back strong with "Sick of You," a Matt Squire-written and produced track about losing a loser ("You know fairy tales don’t come true/ Not when it comes to you"). The album ends with "Live Like There’s No Tomorrow," an epic power ballad expressing the creed by which Selena has built her life and career.
A Dallas native, Selena Gomez started acting at age seven when she landed a role in the popular television series "Barney & Friends," on which was a regular for two seasons. She landed her first film role in the 2003 sci-fi action adventure film "Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over." She made her mark as an actress playing girl wizard Alex Russo in the hit Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverly Place," which premiered in 2007 and has now completed three seasons. Selena and her cast mates won a 2009 Emmy Award for Outstanding Children’s Program.
Selena then made an indelible impression with her starring role in 2010 comedy "Ramona and Beezus." Says Selena, "I wanted something completely different from my show. All these incredible actors, being able to learn from them and get my feet wet in the film world. It was the perfect way to get into it." Next up, a starring role in "Monte Carlo," in which she plays a teen on vacation in the romantic European principality. And of course, Selena is gearing up for the fourth season of "Wizards of Waverly Place."
Selena has branched out into fashion with the premiere of her new clothing line, Dream Out Loud, sold exclusively at K-Mart. But her instinct for charity remains strong. She is a proud UNICEF ambassador, and will appear for a third year at UNICEF's Trick or Treat bash, this time to kick off UNICEF's 60th anniversary. And with the new album comes a new tour with her band.
Having her own band has been a comfort for Selena as she hits the road with "A Year Without Rain." Scene members; Ethan Roberts (Guitar), Joey Clement (Bass), Greg Garman (Drums) and Dane Forrest (Keyboard) back her on tour and help shape her emerging sound. "On my TV show we have an ensemble cast that’s like a family," she says. "If anyone’s missing, you feel it. I wanted that family feel in my music, and we definitely have that with the Scene."
That family feeling had grown to include fans around the world, each of them all in when it comes to following Selena Gomez on her amazing artistic journey. Where’s she headed? She’ll let you know when she gets there. "I’m still figuring out who I am," she says. "I love expressing that through music, and through film. I feel at this moment in my life I couldn’t be happier."
Selena Gomez took her sweet time before recording her debut album. After all, she had her hands full starring in her hit Disney Channel series "Wizards of Waverley Place," not to mention appearing in a string of movies and other TV shows. Still, music had been a core passion of hers going back to childhood. A child no more, Selena comes on strong with her Hollywood Records premiere CD, "Kiss & Tell." Intuition Summer Festival 2009. Het was weer een topfeest. Hemelse trance onder een strak blauwe hemel. Jammer dat het geluid in de buitenarea niet echt top was. Binnen was het net een dampende sauna 's avonds. Dat bleek wel want alle lenzen besloegen, waardoor het focussen binnen lastig was. Al met al toch nog een aardig setje, dat de sfeer van de dag goed weergeeft. Beleef die topdag en jullie party-momenten nu nog één keer opniew, door de slideshow te draaien. Thx. again Paul voor de leuke foto's! En Menno en Alda, respect! Jullie zijn er weer ingeslaagd om een topfeest neer te zetten. Pachtige line-up met de beste trance van het moment! Klasse! En last but not least, thx. to all nice partypeople and dj's for the nice photo-opportunities. Het was weer fun om jullie allemaal ontmoet te hebben :) Vooral de mini-after in de camper van Anja was erg gezellig :) Leuk om nog even door te gaan tot 03.00 uur op de parkeerplaats. Thx.
