There was something particularly creepy about the bathroom in the Senior Center's second floor men's room.
I should have played bass for CCR.
Scanned from an ancient contact sheet.
April 14, 2020: Still working on power washing the driveway. Covered in muck. Listening to @shannonkaiserwrites’s JOY SEEKER.
It’s been 0 days since my last emotional breakdown. I got really down at midnight, just overwhelmed, felt so lonely. Sometimes I feel so disconnected, so alone and I get into a really bad funk. I sobbed for such a long time laying in bed, feeling pain. Somehow I managed to do laundry which I don’t remember doing. Tomorrow is my birthday. I don’t want it to come cause I’m not sure I even want to try celebrating me anymore. I know I should not talk like that. But even though I know I’m improving I still feel like it’s a one step forward, two steps back kinda thing.
And this #photo is a part of my subverted selfie project of 2020, photo 105/366.

I found this photo in a forgotten archive from my old Sony point and shoot that I took with me on a trip to Newcastle.
The Introspection Tower, The Great Mosque of Xi'an, 23 April 2009. Also called the Huajui Mosque. It was built in 742 AD and rebuilt/extended twice in the 17th Century by the Ming Dynasty and the Qing Dynasty. The Chinese Communists turned it into a steel factory! It is now used again as a mosque by the Hui people but is also open to the public. The Hui are descendents from Central Asian and Middle Eastern traders who travelled on the Old Silk Road which ended at Xi'an. The speak Chinese with Arabic and Persian phrases.

Part of this project, for me, is to push myself to new limits and, hopefully, push through them. Journaling was a hugely important part of my life for a time. Today, I am picking it up again in hopes of better understanding my own thoughts by writing them down.
And what could go better with calmness and introspection than a nice pot of tea?
Today's been a day of contemplation and introspection. It's nothing to call home about, don't worry. It was more meditative an experience than anything. And being the naturally inquisitive character that I am, I find the thought process of leapfrogging from one notion, abstraction or feeling to another quite fascinating.
At the end of the day, the whole mental exercise ended up yielding satisfying results and I found it to be fairly therapeutic. I've learned yet again that setting some time aside to spend in ones own brain is always a healthy undertaking.
So, find that silence and immerse yourself in that deep thought. It's remarkable what you'll discover. Speaking of which, one of my other creative ventures has unexpectedly earned itself a new edge. There you go!
Go for it! x

I think I was at the height of my office career. Department Manager of a civil engineering group and I was never more miserable. I have nothing against civil engineering but I felt like my talents and gifts weren't fully realized.
I'm a walking dicotomy and I've struggled to reconcile the two. The creative vs the analytical, right vs left brain. Once I switched careers and started to do just that my life took off, but I still dragged a huge anchor with me.
I look so damn young here and probably weighed a lot less than I did. There's one big anchor holding me down. The biggest and the hardest to let go but I'm going to make that happen this coming year of 2022.
A sign which which is allegedly for the Introspection Tower, The Great Mosque of Xi'an, 23 April 2009.
... experimental in nature... awareness raised as the pieces of this ensemble came together. High contrasting pieces jolt the eyes and the contrast physiologically entices one to take a second look. to contemplate and examine... thought provoking, fierce and intense.
Rex is wearing Gizza's new Shalwar pants and leather boots, offer a hint of Asian flavor with a dashing trendy belt offering a contemporary look. He coupled this with Aeneas 2 from Tableau Vivant. The Mandala Sinra 2 by kikunosuke eel and yula Finesmiths "The Flash- acunputure provide an edge to this presentation. Topped off with Cruel Mohawk by Nikita. Pose by Avante Poses.

...néctar glorioso
si me besara
y poseyera
al fin, mi alma
de un solo tajo...
...con su güadaña.
