I'm singin' this borrowed tune
I took from the Rolling Stones,
Alone in this empty room
Too wasted to write my own.
~from the song "Borrowed Tune" by Neil Young
Neil Young wrote this song a few days after the death of a close friend.

The theme for the 'Me Again Monday' group ( www.flickr.com/groups/1688111@N24/ ) this week is 'Borrowed'. When I'm struggling with a creative idea I'll often 'borrow' an idea/concept from a talented musician.
(BTW: This shot is NOT autobiographical.)

A man,who realizes the potential of his mind by means of introspection and contemplation, he does not lack self-confidence. He has control over his mind and he is able to realize it's full potential. ”
this image is part of my Introspection series about fears and trying to get over them. it portrays my fear of losing someone very dear to me, not because one of us dies or things happen, but because i did something so bad that i deserve to be abandoned.
smoke is made out of smoke bombs and an awesome custom brush i donwloaded from Phlearn! :)
Poeka was enjoying the last sun of the day, looking in from the window sill outside. The blinds added a nice effect to the image. The scene was also a reminder to clean the windows in the not too distant future.
Inside A Faded Yellow Rose
I just transplanted a Super Yellow Rosebush and it needed to be cut back severely... Roses in different life stages were saved for the kitchen...
Unfortunately, there were no buds...

My favorite frame from this session. The 50mm lens makes one vulnerable to verbal disapproval if the subject is not interested but I think it also yields a wonderful intimacy of the moment, and wonderful tones. I find myself enjoying it more and more. Newark, New Jersey promises limitless photographic possibilities, and a trip is for me far less expensive, and closer than one to New York.
This is one image that exemplifies doing "candid portraiture at events"
(in Technique).
A 'rorshocking' portrait of introspection, utilizing selective focus 'bokeh' bokeh overlay effect to complete the effect (but she's really just watching an event).
My personal faved best photo of 2004 (added to the 'Cream of the Crop' pool) because it combines utilizing a photographic medium techinque with basic Photoshop technique to create something much more than the sum of the parts.

Modeled after a Dutch artist, I couldn't resist using a touch of classic Delft pottery in her blouse.
Marion for Julia Kay's Portrait Party,
I still have a bit of cleaning to do, then will attempt some better pics. I couldn't wait to shoot a few.
I'm really happy with how the grout brought this portrait to life.

The drinking straw is a device used for sucking up a liquid - usually a drink. A thin tube of plastic (especially polystyrene) or other material, straight or with an accordion-like living hinge, it is employed by being held with one end in the mouth and another end in the drink. Muscular action reduces air pressure in the mouth, whereupon atmospheric pressure forces the drink up the straw. The first straws were made by the Sumerians, and used for drinking beer (as to avoid the solid byproducts of fermentation). Argentinians use a similar device called bombilla that acts as both a straw and sieve for drinking mate tea. The modern drinking straw was patented in 1888 by Marvin Stone.

The more I learn about myself, the more I fear myself. I’m told I should remain neutral. A Switzerland of the mind.
This is a departure from my normal uploads. The original shot (see comment box below) looked a bit bland, so I decided to take a crop and then one thing led to another... I was unsure whether to use the version in the comment box below, but settled on this one for my chosen theme of Introspection.
Introspection is the examination of one's own conscious thoughts and feelings. In psychology the process of introspection relies exclusively on observation of one's mental state, while in a spiritual context it may refer to the examination of one's soul. Introspection is closely related to human self-reflection and is contrasted with external observation.
Introspection has been a subject of philosophical discussion for thousands of years. The philosopher Plato asked, "…why should we not calmly and patiently review our own thoughts, and thoroughly examine and see what these appearances in us really are?"

The Netherlands is home to a wealth of contemporary art, often ‘hidden’ in private collections. Museum Singer Laren brings together a selection of these works of art in My World. The exhibition offers a unique insight into some of the most important private Dutch collections with top-quality international contemporary art. It features work from all over the world by artists including Yayoi Kusama, Charles Avery, Ai Weiwei, Zanele Muholi, Marlene Dumas and Anselm Kiefer. The exhibition was curated by art critic and curator Hans den Hartog Jager and highlights the world that an art collector builds and continues to expand.
