Good evening, Flickr!
I'm super excited!
Introducing........
my newest camera! :D
A Pentax K1000. I really want to play and experiment with film photography. This camera appears to be in almost brand new condition, for $13 at a Goodwill thrift store. Those of you who followed my previous Flickr account may know I also own an Argus C3. My "brick" camera was missing a tiny piece on the top which was letting a bit of light in, giving my photos a hazy effect (which in some cases was almost kind of nice). I plan on finding a way to fix that camera, then be able to experiment with both film cameras. :-)
I originally wanted a vintage-feel to this photo, but not quite sure I like the processing I ended up with. Any thoughts? I think maybe it's a little too dark...?

The 1991 season marked the introduction of the FIA’s new, and controversial, 3.5 Litre Formula which replaced the highly successful Group C category that had been used in the World Sports Car Championship since 1982. However, due to a small number of entries in the new 3.5 litre formula heavily penalised Group C cars were allowed participate in the newly created C2 category for the 1991 season but Jaguar participated in the new formula.
To comply with the new regulations Jaguar produced an all-new car, the XJR-14. It was designed by Ross Brawn and John Piper, and was built by Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR).[1] In the past, TWR's Jaguars had been designed under the direction of Tony Southgate, while Brawn worked with a large design staff (12 according to John Piper); a paradigm shift (albeit small) in its own right and reflective of Brawn's Formula One background.
The abandonment of the Group C fuel consumption regulations meant a change in aerodynamic design philosophy. Coupled that with vastly different packaging requirements for a small, light, normally aspirated engine meant that concerns over drag became a secondary requirement to downforce. The new design, lower kerb weight of 750 kg (1,653 lb) and higher downforce levels meant that the XJR-14 was a lot faster in corners compared to the previous Group C front runners.

Precious Moments! This was sudden & I was not expecting this.
I noticed Sohail was standing at the far end of the ridge on lake with Hala in his hands. He was literally introducing 7 months old "HALA" to the Waterfalls & Glacier of Rati Gali lake.
Salute to the such courageous & determined Kashmiris. May Allah help them to achieve their dreams.

Rags hissing at Bastian to tell him, who's the boss around here. All in all Bastian has been very peaceful and patient, as if he understands he is the newcomer. :)
The "bringing together" of Bastian and the Somalis have been completed according to plan and in relative harmony - i.e with a minimum of hissing and growling and no serious fighting. They don't love each other, but they can be in the same room - well done for adult cats aged 5 to 8½...

With this weeks introduction of the first of the East Coast Azumas there will be a degree of displaced stock on our railways. The 90's have deputised in times of shortage so I can't help thinking that they will be the first to go from our rail scene.

Whew... quite a path to get here... This is my first picture from Taiwan. We moved here... three days ago, and are still in quarantine, but I can see this view out the window if I try hard enough. I'm looking forward very much to getting outside and amongst it all!
"Lab 19 Iris II" might sound like a specialist wing of the Porton Down Experimental Establishment but this was in fact the name of a DMU converted in 1991 from a power twin Metropolitan-Cammell class 101 unit (units 53222-53338). Rebuilt by the Research & Development Division of British Rail at Derby as a test train, it was initially used for radio survey work particularly with the National Radio Network (NRN) and later for video survey work including extensive signal sighting on the WCML prior to the introduction of 125 mph. Bearing the BR Research's silver and grey livery, it is seen passing through London Bridge station on 23 March 1993. Withdrawn and stored at Derby's Railway Technical Centre, it was sold by Network Rail to a private buyer in early 2008. After a short spell at Dunster station on the West Somerset Railway, it was moved to the Barry Tourist railway.

Introduction
According to the historical records of ‘Samguk-sagi,’ Anapji Pond was built during the 14th year of King Munmu (in power 661-681 AD) of the Silla Dynasty (57 BC-935 AD). Small mountains were created inside the palace walls, beautiful flowers were planted, and rare animals were brought in to create an exquisitely exotic garden fit for royalty. The pond was originally built in Wolseung Fortress (erected in 101 AD during the Silla period), but the fortress was destroyed and now lies in ruins. In 1974, an excavation project revealed large spherical shapes (measuring 200 meters in diameter and 180 meters in height) which indicated that 3 islands had been located in the pond. Thanks to these important findings and existing historical records, Anapji Pond has been restored to nearly its former glory.
Imhae jeonji
As one of the detached palaces of the Silla royal family’s main palace, this structure was used as the crowned prince’s palace. Imhaejeon is historically the most important building on the property and records often refer to the whole area as ‘Imhaejin.’ An excavation resulted in the discovery of several buildings: Hoerang (corridor area), Anapji Pond, and five towers in the western part of the area. Some sites have been restored while others have been left in their natural state with only the cornerstones poking out from beneath the ground.

The Svalbard reindeer (Rangifer tarandus platyrhynchus) is a small subspecies or species of reindeer found on the Svalbard archipelago of Norway.
Males average 65–90 kg (143–198 lb) in weight, females 53–70 kg (117–154 lb),[2] while for other reindeer generally body mass is 159–182 kg (351–401 lb) for males and 80–120 kg (180–260 lb) for females.
The species is endemic to the islands of Svalbard, where it has lived for at least 5,000 years and has become well adapted to the harsh climate, being found on nearly all non-glaciated areas of the archipelago.
They are the only large grazing mammal in the European High Arctic, and this makes them exceptional for studies concerning the introduction of pollutants to changing ecosystems.
During the short Arctic summer, Svalbard reindeer feed on a lush tundra vegetation of vascular plants, including grasses, herbs, sedges and deciduous shrubs in the lowland plains and valleys, to accumulate fat for the winter.
The fur of Svalbard reindeer contains elements and chemicals picked up from the vegetation they digest. They are relatively sedentary, and are thus highly vulnerable to changes in local conditions.

The second shot in this little introduction before the new series proper. Taken once everything was out of our old flat and I was waiting for the end of lease cleaners one Friday morning. The windows you see projected on the wall were those that sat above my desk where I've talked to you all from since my very first day on flickr.

All art is but imitation of nature.-- Seneca (Letters from a Stoic - Letter LXV: On the First Cause)
The universe itself is God and the universal outpouring of its soul. --Chrysippus (Quoted by Cicero in De Natura Deorum)
Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For Summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells. --To Autumn. by John Keats
Last summer I assisted a school trip in Scotland. It was a privilege being able to share my favourite things with 11 year olds: nature and outdoor activities.
I specifically remember this moment. It was when a couple of boys ran up to my mother and I shouting, "We found a lizard! Come and see!"
Racing down to a little pond, we were greeted with Newts in the palms of children's hands. I couldn't help but smile at the joy and inquisitiveness that was unashamedly depicted on their small faces. My mum and I then explained what the amphibian was and taught them how to handle the animals carefully.
After that, they all patiently had turns holding or gently capturing one Newt at a time before analysing it together. No fighting, no whining or selfishness. Just pure respect.
What a beautiful introduction.
